I can't say enough good things about this spa, this past week I've been traveling a lot and the plane rides have really gotten to me. I went in yesterday for a sports massage with Jerome and I feel like a whole new person! I had a hot stone massage at Sand Spa while I was visiting California and all I can say is wow. My massage therapist was Barbie and the woman has hands of magic! I literally left the place feeling like a weight was lifted from my shoulders. I floated to the car... The staff was friendly, warm and very courteous. Got a gift card for my 40th and was able to treat myself to a microdermabrasion & spa facial with Candace. I'd never had microderm before but I have had facials. She was very gentle at extractions, her massage techniques were wonderful, and she obviously took her time and did not rush through the steps. Since the treatment, I can feel such a difference in the texture of the skin on my face and neck, it is so smooth - totally worth it and I will return to her even though I don't have any money left on my gift certificate. This is a quaint and clean spa! The staff here is friendly and professional. I booked a massage with Robin and I thought I'd try the back scrub...Wow! I can honestly say that was one of the best massages that I ever had! Robin was an experienced massage therapist who only talked quietly when necessary. The scrub was especially nice because it was all natural and left me feeling invigorated. An added treat is that you can buy the body scrubs for everyday use. I highly recommend the massage with the scrub. You will not be disappointed. Parking is limited as in any beach city so arrive early. I will definitely be booking another massage soon! read more

I had a 90 minute massage and it was the best ever. I had Barbie and she was amazing. I added on the scrub for the feet which I have never had before and it was incredible. The best part about the Sand Spa are the owners, Megan and Gretchen. They treat every client like they are the only ones. The massages I've received at Sand Spa are thorough, the exact pressure I specify and always leave me feeling like a new woman. Each masseuse at Sand Spa has focused on my issue areas and methodically worked out the various knots and tension that I carry around as a result of my every day life. While the massages have been amazing, the thing that puts Sand Spa over the top is the customer service. I had an amazing combination swedish/deep tissue massage with Barbie. We discussed what I wanted her to focus on at the beginning and she did a great job - I feel so much better! I booked my massage same day and everyone I spoke with acted friendly and professional. This place is really cute and beach themed with relatively few frills - you change in the room so no extra amenities. This may be why the price is so much more reasonable than most other places. My friend Lauren who lives down the street from Sand Spa made us appointment for Saturday morning, at first I was a little apprehensive but, she promised i'd love it. AND I DID. I didn't realize when I booked the appointment online that there was no place to specify the gender of the massage therapist, so I was a little surprised when I was scheduled with a male (I always request female). They offered to reschedule me, but I decided that was silly. Jerome gave a great massage and went out of his way to make me feel more comfortable. Most unfulfilling massage ever. I usually go to Trilogy but my neck and upper back were sore and I needed a last minute massage and they were booked. I booked the Detox Massage at Sand Spa last minute. It's supposed to be a Deep Tissue using hot stones and essential oils according to the website. The massage was basically just being moisturized, the only essential oil used was lavender and the masseuse stopped in between each body part to take literally 3 minutes to mix more oil + lavender. The whole massage was this awkward long drawn out process of just being lightly moisturized with odd pauses/breaks so I'd get the right side of my neck rubbed, then the masseuse would mix oils, then he'd rub my upper back, then he'd mix oils, then he'd rub the right upper arm, then he'd mix oils, then the same on the other side. It wasn't just a quick squirt of the lotion or oil either. It took a bizarrely long time to do the mixing and each time he'd have to leave me and walk over to the counter. Super super weird experience. It was a 90 min massage and I'm pretty sure I got about 30 min of very light massage. Oddest most unfulfilling massage I've ever had. read more

Friday evening was the first time that my wife and I had visited Sand Spa - we are clients at other spas for massages three to four times per month. I have to say that the experience was way below expectations. I was a little concerned when the receptionist did not ask us as first time customers to fill out a survey with our preferences and with any health issues. My therapist was several minutes late getting me started - she didn't ask me any questions about where I would like her to focus or about any pain or other issues (as every therapist asks at other spas that I have visited). The massage itself was very mediocre, and I felt completely exposed to the air (with no sheet in a covering position) for at least a third of the massage. Needles to say, we will not be heading back to Sand Spa - very disappointing. read more

Was in town for an extended Christmas holiday with my family touring the great State of California. So since I had already been there for 6 weeks needless to say I was way of do for a manicure and pedicure. While out walking around sightseeing in Manhattan Beach my husband spotted the Sand Spa a beautiful salon so I decided to make an appointment the next day for a spa experience in Cali! Overall the experience was fair but for the services that was offered are WAY OVERPRICED!! Now when I was seated I was given a menu of services that had packages which didn't detail that each services in that package was an additional fee "deluxe manicure and pedicure " FALSE ADVERTISING. Now considering I am not from California but when I chose the service deluxe is a misconception to customers. If it was explained prior to services being rendered would have allowed me to choose another package but unfortunately I was not given that option. I want potentially customers to be aware and inquire before paying for "individual services " labelled as deluxe package. read more
