WARNING Do Not Camp Here! SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!
This past weekend was our first time camping at the Sandhills we stayed Friday and Saturday night. Friday night we arrived around 7pm to check in. My husband went in to check in and the woman staff member Sharon was extremely rude and offensive right from the start. Her comment to my husband was "Do you always look this negative?" Who says that to a customer that you just met 2 minutes prior? Our intention was to stay for the 2 nights but after the offensive comment and bad vibe, he decided to pay only for the one night in the case we decided to leave.... Moving on to Saturday morning, we decided we would try to stay another night considering we had not had a chance to experience the park or hills. My husband went up to the office to pay for the second night and informed her that we had family coming to stay. She once again was snarly with him and made a second rude comment waiting until after he paid saying "You know you're taking up 2 campsites right!" Once again, my husband was offended because her father the owner escorted us to the site Friday night and told my husband where to park our trailer. Why can't this woman not just talk politely? Why was he attacked at every encounter with her? Saturday afternoon our guests arrived 2 adults and a 10 month old baby. Upon arrival, they were charged $30 to enter the campground and the same woman told them if they planned to stay the night, they would have to come to the office before 8pm to pay another $30. What? $60.00 to stay in our trailer on our site that we already paid $70 for? We were double charged for the site...Nevertheless, hang on it gets even better! We enjoyed the Sand Hill and our walk along the beach, as we were fall camping so using the beach was too cold. Around 9pm around our campfire after the 9-month-old baby fell asleep, we had realized that our guests had forgotten to go to the office to pay the other $30. My BIL walked down to the office but no one was around. When he arrived back at our site, I just said to him "just pay in the morning on your way out it should be fine." Boy was I wrong! As our guests were leaving before even reaching the office/exit the father/owner John pulls their car over and accuses them of trying to be sneaky and trying to sneak out. My Brother in Law explained and said his intention was to stop at the office and pay on their way out. The father/owner called him a liar about going to the office the night before and demanded he go to the office and pay now. When he got to the office, the woman Sharon informed him that because they were trying to be sneaky she was adding the sneaky fee onto what they had to pay. So instead of it being $30 more for the overnight stay (again in our trailer on our site that's already paid for) she charged him $55 to leave the park- that's a total of $60 for less than a 24 hour stay plus a $25 (SNEAKY FEE!) Therefore, overall for one site with a trailer on it, we paid $70 -Friday night (1 night), $70 Saturday plus my BIL was charged $85 so Saturday night cost $155 for the 1 night! On top of these outrageous charges, the woman told my BIL not to ever come back! Check out the other reviews on google before wasting your time here I wish we would have. read more
