I lived in Norfolk County for most of my life and I didn't know this place exists. I came here with…read moremy nephews just to check it out. It has a variety of flowers, plants, trees, and birds. I highly suggest putting bug spray on as it is swarmed with mosquitos. I would suggest coming here in the spring and summer just to see a variety of flowers blooming.

Hey! Hey you! Do you like peonies? Wait, don't walk away, I'm talking about flowers!!…read more Yeah, yeah, come back... I just found this place, it's really cool, and I wanted to tell someone about it. It's all the way, uh, somewhere, but it's worth your time, I promise! You know peonies right? They're flowers, sometimes they look a bit like a big papery ball? They got tons here. Maybe it's the biggest collection in all of North America! Maybe! Because it's never been independently verified! But they got a lot! This place is really a big garden behind a house, so it's not super big. Arghh! Wait, don't run away dammit! Just listen to me, okay... It's not that big, but it's packed with peonies. You'll see every variety you've dreamt of here! What, you've never dreamt of peonies? Urgg... This place is quite nice as is, but it's still under construction a bit too. I saw a bridge being made, and you can see them still finishing up some areas. So don't expect it to be as nice or as big as the Royal Botanical Gardens. But for the $13 I'd say it's totally worth it, especially if you love peonies... So, are you gonna go? *Looks around* Oh, I'm by myself... Guess they... Left... Uh, go to Whistling Gardens!!!

darn I just saw a pic of the blueberry pie - did not get to try that…read more Went for a wine tasting .... was ok. Did not get any wine. It was interesting we also went for a meal and got a flight to taste - She seemed to pour each glass separately to taste after we finished the previous - (so no actual "flight" at all). What made it odd to begin with was that she gave me the glass of wine to taste while I was busy playing a bean-bag game they had there - which made playing the game difficult and tasting it difficult. Then when we sat down, she poured the next tasting ..... INTO THE SAME GLASS. Okay. That mixes you know but fine, save washing dishes... And what made it more odder was that each consecutive glass she poured was less and less. The last glass was literally laughable. As if someone left that behind when they were finished with their wine- thats how much she poured. I should have said something but I was a bit in shock. The couple near us had a real flight - On a wood board and full glasses but they had the cider so maybe that is why they had more. The taste of the wine was not to my liking and my bf felt the same. So why the 4 stars and why would I go back? great scenery and porch overlooking the field friendly staff - though the service was a bit odd. I would give them another chance with the wine and cider if I was in the area.... But what took them to a 4 was that they served not just the usual wine and cheese tasting but a meal. A DEEEELICOUS MEAL I definitely would be back for their 5 star pizza!!!Wholly molly! Perfect, from a stone oven, crust was amazing even if I think it was a whole wheat type but chewy and crunchy at the same time, thin crust yet filling. Toppings were simple yet went well together and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. I am not sure if it was because we were hungry, but man, their pizza is amaze! And we make our own pizza from scratch so we are pretty darn picky about our pizza ! If you are wine tasting in the area ........ GO FOR THE PIZZA!

The space was big enough to sit comfortably-inside or out- and dance. I loved the vintage decor on the walls (moose antlers, old tools, etc) and the animals (cows, a horse that stood perfectly still between the sign-super weird- and the cats) were sweet. The venue had a fun, laid back, and warm feel. I definitely recommend this as a wedding venue.

I had my wedding and got married here on May 17, 2014. The venue/barn is absolutely beautiful and…read morethe grounds are well kept and are very nice for photos. We didn't have food catered in as we had a professional bbq'r there so having the kitchen on-site was great. We could not have asked for a better place. HOWEVER.....what we did encounter that we were not at all happy about We had to hire THEIR bartenders at $150/per bartender. We HAD to have two of them and they would work for eight hours. This we knew. What we DIDN'T know was that it was the owner (Cathy) and her mother! They were not dressed appropriately in my opinion for a wedding. They were dressed like they were in a country barn hoedown. Cathy stayed for the whole evening but her mom left at 9:30-10ish. So we paid for the whole night but didn't get the two bartenders for the whole night. They had a tip jar out on the counter which I was not at all happy about! They told us we had to legally close the bar during the dinner time because we had our own wine on the table (so another two hours of paid time) but when we checked with the liquor store when we got the license this is NOT the case...but, not a huge deal as we had wine on the tables. So during this "paid" time, Cathy was outside playing with her cat. They (Cathy and her mother) then demanded silverware and ate our dinner. We had a buffet so this was not a huge deal, it IS however the principle of it!! This was never discussed nor where they invited to the dinner. Approximately 9:30, George (Cathy's father) came in to the hall and sat by the entrance inside the main hall and was dressed in "Johnny Cash", hat and all outfit. He just sat and stared at people. When someone would walk by him, he would stop them, ask if they were enjoying themselves then say "I own the place". He was the first person over to the late night buffet when it was put out on the table and helped himself to it and the desserts. During the evening, Cathy SNAPPED at a few guests to keep the doors shut because the heat was on (we had actually turned it off because it was hot) Finally at the end of the night, everyone had left when Cathy told me she had shut the fridge off but to have NO worries as this fridge holds the cold. It does NOT. When we arrived Sunday morning the fridge was warm. The slab cakes that we had piled on top of each other had sunk into each other because the card board boxes had become wet and soggy. 5 cakes flattened! Creamer and milk packets were warm, ceasar salad dressing warm and two lasagnas warm. I had to throw all of it away....it was all ruined!!! We had rented the hall for 3 days but were then told on Friday when we were setting up that we didn't rent it for Sunday but they would ALLOW us to come in and clean up but had to be gone by 12. This was not a big deal as we didn't want to be there long anyhow..again, it was the principle. All I can say is the venue is amazing and it is wonderful...the people on the other hand..... once committed to a venue and the invites are sent out. There is nothing that can be said and done when inappropriate behavior is happening. Especially in this case....I honestly didn't trust them not to kick people out if we didn't go along. I would give the venue 5/5 as it is absolutely beautiful however; because of the owners I feel they severely reduce the rating.
