But when you do a drive by, you see the Kelsey's restaurant sign right in front. That is most definitely deceiving, because that restaurant is closed. The interior of it has been gutted to make way for the hotel lobby. So, why is the restaurant sign still out front? In the door is a small paper sign tacked on the window, indicating that they are open. For heaven's sake, get that Kelsey's sign down, put the hotel chain name up thare and blare the lights that it's ALL hotel/motel, why don't you?! Worse than that, it was definitely not obvious that that was the entrance to the hotel, so I tried a door that had a sign above it indicating that it was the Entrance. However, it was locked. A boy opened the door for me, and I wandered all through the hotel, main floor and 2nd floor, before realizing where the lobby was. Definitely confusing! Ok, so we finally got in. They charged $150.00 a night through one of those internet discount hotel finders. That price IMHO was high. The rooms were big enough - we had 2 queen beds, a desk, TV, free wifi, and a pool. I believe the reason they get away with the price is because they are the only hotel of only 4 in Simcoe that offers a pool. They also have a hot tub. There weren't enough chairs around the pool. Meanwhile, they've been doing a lot of construction here; the floors have really neat designs in the tiles, and parts of the hallways are carpeted. A section near the lobby was blocked off because they were stil working on the tiles. There was no furniture in the lobby, no plants - and I believe this is because of the construction they've been doing. The bathroom is teeny-tiny, again with that setup that I'm not fond of: toilet and tub in this tiny space divided from the sink by the door. The sink is just outside the toilet and tub area. But it's the tub/shower combination that was really awesome in this setup!! Although it does not have jets, the tub was a Jaccuzzi!! And the showerhead was big and wide, and the curtain curved out in the centre so that you didn't feel squashed as so often is the case. And the tub drained well. I'd have to say that the shower was 5-stars!!! Amazing! The hotel does offer a continental breakfast which was fairly standard, with hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, jam and PB, juices and coffee. Sufficient to fill. Edited to add one bit I forgot to add: when I checked out, the clerk asked how our stay was, and I told her the pillows were too soft (there were no other choices but these mushy things). I was rewarded with the strangest expression on the woman's face: she plastered a fake smile on her face and responded, "That's funny! We usually get compliments on our pillows!" Why on earth bother asking for feedback if it's thrown in my face! Never mind... it's not like I'm in a hurry to go back :-( Our stay was comfortable enough, but IMHO I thought it was a bit pricy for what we got. Maybe it'll be better once the construction is done?

However, there are some front desk staff that need to learn how to smile and acknowledge the guests. The room that I had was rather musty (don't know why!). Bed was comfortable but tv remote was a mystery to operate. It took several minutes to figure it out! Breakfast was adequate but the breakfast room WAS WAY TOO SMALL! They need to knock out the east wall and double the size of the breakfast room!

We reported this situation to the management office. They offered us new rooms and washed our clothes. After spending the second night in new rooms, that is situation repeated. We asked them to cover our expenses regarding the purchase of new luggage, shoes and stuff that cannot be washed and must be replaced in order to avoid bringing these creatures back to our homes. They denied us this help. We have checked out and we won't return there. We have booked another hotel.

About seven pieces of perch, fries and celery bread. They forgot to give me the celery bread until I asked for it and promptly brought me a piece. Everything was tasty enough but I found the fish a bit soft and soggy and lukewarm . I like the fish a bit more crispy and warm. The local cider was very good also. In 2000, it was bought a renovated into the restaurant and inn. It's really cool inside. The owner and his friend fixed everything themselves ... it's very rustic. We sat in the dining room that overlooked a brook. The menu is varied. Apparently it's the place to go if you want a meal of fish. I had lasagna ... it was okay. Our server was friendly. Most of the rooms were very nice however none of the pullout couches have bedding leaving me to sleep on the floor, they should not be advertising that some rooms can sleep 4. Even jf you tried to sleep on the pullout couch you would collapse in to a V shape. My roommate enjoyed a bed however they complained about the bedsheets not being very comfortable and "Cheap". We had to ask for ketchup, and it was brought in a cute, teeny tiny container. When my mom asked for some for her own omelet the server responded with "Can't you just share?" And then said something about not having much left. The mimosa was flat. They said they had about "three left" and urged us to order quickly before they were gone. They gave us some cute little orange slices with breakfast, which was a nice touch, and a carnation for Mother's Day, which was really lovely. My sister enjoyed her French toast. The decor was dated. The table they directed us to had some egg on it from the last guests. They were lovely ladies and the coffee was good, but we won't be visiting again. There are a lot of awesome places to get breakfast in Dover.
