Best head and face straight razor shave I've ever had. The attention to detail was amazing!

I'm new in town and had some bad luck with barbers in the past but when I walked in I was seated right away and easily given the best haircut of my life for an affordable price. I will definitely be returning next time I need a haircut. Vicente did an amazing job replicating the photo I showed him for reference. read more

I NEEDED a haircut badly, but my regular barber was booked. I looked on line and everywhere was booked or too expensive . Fantastic cut and barber. He takes his time and you can tell that he is passionate about his profession. Would go again.

terrible haircut. do not go. i gave him multiple reference photos and he could not figure it out and then deflected from the fact he screwed up. and then i still had to pay him thirty dollars for giving me an objectively bad haircut read more

Can't recommend this place enough. Vicente and Sanchez are great at what they do, and the shop has a very cozy, welcoming vibe.

Today was my first time in Vicente's chair, and I'm really happy with the results! What I thought would be a routine haircut and shave felt more like a day spa experience. Vicente was focused with precision and attention to detail. If you're particular, go see this guy! read more

I have had my haircut here twice. Each time the service was great. I will keep coming here. I highly recommend this barber shop

I have lived in Buena Park for almost six years now and have been going to Mr. Sanchez for five out of those six years. My only regret is not being his customer my first year in the neighborhood. Mr. Sanchez has to be one of the most friendly individuals I have ever known. From the first moment you enter his barber shop, he is warm and welcoming - "Hello my very best friend!" The shop is almost like home - safe and comfortable. I am always more than happy to wait for a chair. Oh, and I have never left his shop unhappy with my haircut. Through the years, I have come to know that Mr. Sanchez is a proud father, originally from Mexico who has been cutting hair in the neighborhood for decades. (a little known fact is that in his younger years, he was a body builder - look on his walls for old photos) If you're a guy who's new to the neighborhood or you're sick of the usual Supercuts mistake, Mr. Sanchez is as real as it gets and you will not be disappointed. read more

I lived a few blocks away from Sanchez Barber Shop when I was living up in Lakeview, so I went to him for a couple years. Mr. Sanchez is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, however, I'm evaluating on his skills as a barber. About 3/5 times, he'd fade me up evenly, and the other 2/5, it'd be very uneven. A few times, I mentioned that one side needed to be evened out, and he took his clippers and went up with a couple strokes, making that side even more uneven. So I chose not to open my mouth after that experience and let him do his thing. Since I fly every week for work, it was certainly more out of convenience that I'd go to see him on weekends, but now that I'm in River North, I'm pretty happy with the new venue that I've found. Hit or miss on his cuts, evaluate at your own risk. Best, Charlie read more

Mr. Sanchez gave me a perfect shape-up and cut the sides the length that I wanted. He is older than old school. He uses a straight edge blade with old man's shaving cream, that smells like coconuts, to line you up. He gives you a mirror to hold up the entire time so you can tell him if he needs to do this or that. This gentleman's gentleman shaped up this lady perfectly!!! FYI: I was a walk-in and only waited for about 10 minutes. He charges $15. read more

Mr. Sanchez is an amazing barber. I was initially skeptical about an old-school barber with such a low price, but I can honestly say this hidden gem is not only a "gem" but also the best value you will get in the city. You can't beat an amazing $20 cut. Plus you get to watch whatever you want on Netflix via the huge 60"+ screen he has set up in front of the cutting chairs. Mr. Sanchez is almost too friendly and gives you the exact cut you ask for. I routinely ask for "a medium buzz on the side and a trim on the top" and it comes out looking better than any haircut I've asked for in the past, including those from more well-known barbershops and franchises. Even if I were to move away from Wrigleyville / Uptown, I think I would still find a way to get my haircut here as it is just that good; I really can't recommend Mr. Sanchez enough. read more

Dre gave me an awesome cut after growing my hair out for 2 years. Great place with friendly staff with an awesome atmosphere, couldn't recommend this place any higher! read more

Mr. Sanchez is hands-down the best barber in the neighborhood. He's not a stylist. He's not a hairdresser. He's a barber. An old-school, man's man of a barber. Not only that, but he'll probably also be wearing a suit an tie when he cuts your hair. Classy. If you want to get a good haircut at a ridiculously good price, go see this man. When you walk in the door, he'll probably shout "Hello, my friend! How are you today?" When you get a haircut, he does a great job, and even uses a straight razor. The shop has some quirk decorations and a couple big fish tanks, but it all works. He's also always playing a movie on a big old DVD/VHS combo TV and you can expect to see anything from Star Wars to a Jackie Chan movie to an old boxing match. No chick flicks here. Haircuts are $15, but give him $20, because the man earns a good tip. read more

I love this guy. $20 gets you a great haircut and unique experience. As long as I am living in Chicago, I will get my hair cut here. read more

First let me tell you that if you are not the person that gets fades, then this is not the place for you. I read many reviews where I read that Mr. Sanchez would always give you a buzz cut even if you didn't ask for it. Since I saw many other good reviews I decided to go and try out Mr. Sanchez. My hair was about three inches long. I told Mr. Sanchez that I just wanted to clean it up so cut about half an inch. He grabbed his clippers even though I said I preferred scissors, and he went at it. I realized it was just too late when I saw how much hair fell on my lap. So I had no choice but to let him finish cutting it. One thing I realized while I was waiting and getting my haircut is that all of Mr. Sanchez customers get a similar cut. Everybody that was there was getting that fade thing. So unless your hair looks like Lebron James' hair I suggest you try another place. My hair is going to take at least a month to get where it used to be so I know I will be rocking a stupid haircut for that long. I honestly don't know why everybody gives it five stars, maybe because it's cheap. I'd much rather pay three times more in order to get a good haircut. read more

One of best barber shop's I've been to, the service is exceptional and Mr Sanchez always cuts my hair so nice! I definitely would recommend him to any of my friends and family members. read more

Another hidden gem just across from Thorek Hospital on Irving Park Road. Lucio Sanchez is a true professional, and a great guy to boot. He knows haircuts - every kind of haircut. A former bodybuilder from Mexico, he's from a lineage of barbers and is old-school serious about his craft. He's a master of the the quick-snip, and his straight-blade finishing is second to none. His shop looks like something out of a David Lynch movie, with cages of budgies, tanks of turtles, every magazine known to man, a massage chair, and even old bodybuilding posters of himself in the 60s! He asks you what you want to watch on his vintage TV while you get an awesome cut! All of this for a mere $15 !! read more

I do not know how this place got such a good rating. I went in with a full beard. I wanted it cleaned up. I left bleeding in several areas on my neck. Their towels stink. I don't think this place should be legally operating. Photo of me usually and after. read more

Excellent hair cuts. Great service. An amazingly interesting barber. A entertaining environment. Sanchez is definitely a cut above the rest. read more

Just moved to the area from LA and was looking for a great barber who can do a proper taper and line up. Boy was I in for a treat. Señor Sanchez resorts to the tried and true straight blade, not just on my neck, but all around - behind the ears, lined up all across the front and back around. Plus, with the shaving cream and moisturizer, he really knows how to make you feel fresh. Great price, great convos, and something always entertaining playing on a giant tv in a room illuminated by a rainbow of incandescent light bulbs - aka great experience. I don't review places often (second review ever) but this place deserves your business if your looking for a good, classy haircut and a time to tidy up or to just treat yourself to a good old fashioned barbershop cut; definitely above the rest. read more

Old School barber shop- Mr. Sanchez is chatty and gives great hair. Plus the 'decor' in there will keep you totally amused along with his pet turtle and fishies. A wonderful little barbershop with tons of character.... read more

I see Vicente, an amazing barber who pays really close attention to detail and consistently gives a great fade. His cuts take a long time because he's committed to making you look your best, and he's masterful with the straight razor. I'll happily wait through several customers because he is that consistently awesome. The shop is also just good vibes; always great conversation and something interesting on tv. read more

Sanchez is a great guy and barber. Love his shop, it feels like you're in his home. He's super friendly, takes care to make sure you're happy, and always has the latest movies "legally" for you to watch on his bigass TV. Oh and there's a turtle and some fish. read more

Sanchez Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Definitely a great deal. $15 bucks for a skilled haircut. Sanchez was super friendly and really concerned with making sure you like the way you hair looks. The shop is completely old school but the funky vibe just works. Only reason he didn't get five stars is he didn't have the AC on and I was sweating bullets by the end of the haircut. Heads up: Its cash only, but if you forget, no worries, Sanchez will just tell you to bring it buy whenever you get the chance. What a guy! read more

My roommate told me about this place and I stopped in for a mens haircut yesterday. It was my first haircut here and I was very pleasantly surprised. He cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and it turned out GREAT. Mr. Sanchez goes the whole nine yards and shaves the back of the neck (with a straight razor), does the thing with the hot towel, and you come away from the whole experience feeling like a million bucks. And he does it all for only $15 ($20 with tip - he earns it!). Just a couple of quick notes: It is a barber shop. The place is pretty basic - no frills (see other reviews). Having said that, the haircut is superior to most salons that I've been to and I would recommend this to any gentleman. read more

Paul Gallegos gave me the best haircut I have ever had! Good man, too. Feeling blessed to have met the man.

Came to the shop because I just moved here from Boston. It's has a great '80s nostalgic style friendly barbers. I had Paul cut my hair he gave me the best high fade pompadour. He knows a lot about the rockabilly style is very knowledgeable about barbering and explain how my hair works. All for just 20 buck I'll keep coming back. read more

Sanchez Barber Shop - The amazing goldfish at Sanchez Barber Shop. - Barbers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Just recently went here after months of going to a slightly more convenient place by work. I was sure that he'd wouldn't remember me after having been gone for so long, but he remembered everything about me - my family, my job, and most importantly, my haircut. Lucio is the best barber I've ever had. I'll admit that the first time i went there I was a little off-put by his collection of random odds-and-ends, but I quickly learned to love the place. $15 will get you a great haircut that's consistent every time (though I tip $5, even when I'm feeling short on cash). You might even catch an old VHS recording of random boxing matches while you're there. It's not your typical barbershop, but Lucio will not disappoint. read more

I have to agree with everyone else that Mr. Sanchez is a great barber and a great conversationalist. He treated me as if I had been going there for years and the conversation just flowed. And best of all I walked out of there with a great haircut. I just moved into the neighborhood and I'm happy to say that I've found my barber. He charges $15 and I gave him $20 - well worth the money. One thing to point out is that this place is nothing fancy . . . it's a barber shop and has a lot of stuff on the walls that may date back some 30 or 40 years. It's a quirky space with a great atmosphere. read more

Damn. I gotta take it down to three. After a fantastic first haircut, I thought I'd found my guy. Friendly, quirky, cheap, available. Three consecutive fair-to-bad haircuts later, I'm pretty disappointed to be saying goodbye to Mr. Sanchez. On one cut I said "short," and pretty much got a buzz. The next time I said "medium," and got a buzz plus about an extra half inch. Two haircuts ago he missed some hairs around my ear and on this last one he got a little overzealous with the clippers and the left side of the top of my head is definitely longer than the right. He's worth a shot; maybe my hair is just his Joe Frazier. read more

I'll give Sanchez a 3.5 on the basis that it would have been a 4.5 or 5 if he would have asked me more about how I wanted my haircut besides do you want a little hair on your sides or almost no hair on your sides. Thank god I said a little hair cause otherwise I feel like I would be shaving my hair tonight. So outside of that, the man knows how to cut hair! Very professional, cheap, and I walked in and immediately sat down with no appointment. Only takes cash and has some strange movie playing most of the time and the atmosphere is "unique" and I'm pretty sure the guy knows nothing but "come on in my best friend" in English, but all in all a very good haircut and a awesome experience. read more

I want to give it five stars because I love every aspect of this shop except one. The hair cuts. But I love everything else so much I don't care. I always ask for just a little taken off and end up with a lot taken off. But I am so busy staring at the strange turtle or watching a fight on TV to care. He has never given me a bad cut, he just takes a little more off than I want. Bit it's hair, it grows back and everytime it does, I'm right back in his chair again. Tip the man. Just because he doesn't charge much doesn't mean you shouldn't tip him. I usually hand him $30 and walk out. I'm not exactly sure how much the hair cuts cost. He seems happy and within a few days I'm happy. read more

Mr. Sanchez is the man! I'll be back 100%! He will let you hold up a mirror before hand to tell him exactly what you want, and if you're not sure he'll help you explain what you are thinking. He also let me play stuff on Netflix off the tv during the cut which was a pretty nice touch. read more
