Lot's of chaos to find essentials like a table, absent coffee cups or someone to ask for assistance (and if fortunate, expected a tip). Food was mediocre and high carb (no sight of ANY type of breakfast meats on the line, including tip-option omelette bar w/ long wait). Scrambled eggs were overcooked and dry. Had decent coffee, the green Chilaquiles, fresh fruit and a pancake. To be fair, the price for my single trip was $185MXN plus I tipped my server for bringing me more coffee/milk. Could find a single plate breakfast with better selections elsewhere for that price, but probably excluding beverage. Can purchase green Chilaquiles (w/ pico) from morning vendors in PDC for $35MXN. Did enjoy sitting outside on a beautiful day and the street theater of the starting day. Most staff were very kind, but slightly worn out.

Ex water with lemon juice and mint without alcohol or sugar is crazy outrageous. When they make easily lemonade with alcohol shot. This buffet is one of the most mediocre buffets I've ever been. They use tomatoes and cucumbers in many baked and cooked dishes but as is in the salad bar is very scarce and limited. They do decent job with allergies and try their best to help out. Thank god our allergies are not life threatening cause most of the time, they are so disorganized that we have to remind and ask and ask again to make sure "no gluten" "no dairy". Many waiters don't speak the language. Lots of American style breakfast full of pastries, cheese, fruit, bacon and such. Healthy breakfast? Ah. Debatable. The design is nice and there is ample seating so you never wait too long when they resort is not at full capacity in mid January. All in all. Not an experience I'll treasure. Very blah food

Many of their wines are from Spain and other European countries. At the meals end a nice piece of cake warshed down with some of the best coffee I have ever had in any restaurant back in the USA. For a buffet, the Market does a great job! There is always such a wide variety of food available for every meal! For breakfast there were the usual suspects....freshly made waffle & pancake station, omelette station, plus tons of American and Mexican entrees. There was a pizza oven where they warmed tacos for a taco bar at breakfast and made pizzas at lunch. There were always fresh fruit and green juices and horchata water. At dinner there are different theme nights (Italian, Steak, etc.) We walked by when they had the seafood buffet and it looked excellent with lobster, crab, and many varieties of fish. The staff served beverages and was always very helpful. Sometimes the a la carte restaurants at the Hard Rock were disappointing but you could never go wrong at the Market.

My husband and I came here both hungry and killing time before our ride to the airport. Our server (his first day!) was great, and the breakfasts were outstanding. The best we've had in our 10 days in Mexico. I had the huevos rancheros and my husband had the huevos fritos. Our meals were tasty, and came with sides of a wonderful polenta (my favorite!) and caprese kind of salad. The toast was even good, and this place would contend for some of the best coffee we've had in Mexico too. Definitely 5 stars, we and our tummies were very pleased. :)

I honestly didn't expect a lot, but we were all pleasantly surprised by the wide array of options, and the fact that virtually all dishes we tried turned out to be really good. Now keep in mind that my 5 star rating is not based on an absolute scale, meaning that I'm not putting it in the same category as a 3-star Michelin joint, but it's based on what I expected from an included dining menu at a hotel. I actually tried to get something different every meal and everything I tried was good. Lunch, in particular, was outstanding. The queso fundido, jalapeno poppers, ceviche, calamari, etc were something we got over and over. The only disappointment was the pork loin medallions my wife got that were overcooked and super dry. But seriously - I will not hesitate to use this option again. Service is a little slow, but you're on vacation so enjoy.

The first time we got there, the service was ok, we ordered from a specific menu catered to the free breakfast. The Mexican breakfast was decent and the Ranchero was ok... we were not blown away with the food; not to mention there was no salt on the tables, just pepper, and most the time the food tasted bland. Sometimes the portions were also uneven. The second time around, the service really lacked and thereafter it just started degrading more and more.. one time we waited about 10-15 min before anyone even acknowledged us or looked at us; I get that they were understaffed, but I also work in service and no matter how understaffed you are, you always acknowledge your customers... I get that we were not really "paying" for our breakfast (it was worked into the hotel rate), however if you want to make a customer for life and commit them to spend more money at your establishment then you make the best effort to offer better service and even maybe make small talk, talk about the dinner options etc. this is a free opportunity for you, the restaurant, to win clients over and make even more money. Personally, I would not want to ever go back there even if it was just for a casual meal.

There are so many different stations available; salad bar, waffles/crepes/donuts/churros station, yogurts/cereals/puddings, fruit & vegetable stations, smoked salmon and fixings, cheese, egg station, Mexican specialties (quesadillas, burritos, etc), lunch meats, breads and pastries, hot plate selection and so much more for both breakfast and brunch. Can't ask for a better assortment. The selection of fruit offered is what's in season. I ate a lot of watermelon, papaya, honeydew, guava and grapefruit during my last visit. The Guava was heavenly! I already miss it.. With covid, employees take special care to serve you. They're masked on top of their respective uniforms and protective wear. Food is shielded by plexiglass barriers and only attendants at each station handles the food. Plates are provided at those stations with the exception of a patron handing theirs over, in which case it is received by an attendant, topped with choice of food and handed back. Attendants all wear gloves. Beverages are also provided by servers and whomever is assigned to your table. Ask to try their juices of the day. They're fresh and delicious! My favourites were the green juice, papaya, orange and carrot and a vegetable-fruit mix with beets. Sooooo good! Found it to be very hydrating in hot Mexican weather. The service is quick, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. Unfortunately this location didn't give us the cactus like the other locations did. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're looking for authentic, delicious tacos and grilled meats that won't break the bank, this is a must visit. I loved it so much that I ended up eating at all three locations and every visit was just as good as the last.
