I love this place! Even though they might be rude, that's the way you can tell it's a fire authentic spot. If you're soft please don't come and bash them about their food when it's really one of the best pupusa spots! The interior feels like you're at someones salvis aunties spot! The server is a little slow and you got to repeat yourself but she's so kind! Just have patience.

Very good El Salvadoran food. Service was great. They also have Mexican food which I'll have to try next time!

I now understand the reason behind these reviews, these people are incredibly rude for no reason at all. I do not recommend.

Food ordered for pickup. It was ready on time and still hot when getting it home. Small place and quick phone service.

I always go here for tamales -- everything else is super, too, but the tamales are my top favorites!

The person at the front desk was so sweet, she managed to get us a table within a very reasonable wait time and was incredibly helpful with the menu. I asked for her personal recommendations, and she steered me toward the Puchica cocktail, which was crisp and refreshing. Per her suggestion, I also ordered the Pollo Campero wings, and they were easily the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly crispy with a slight sweetness from the panela that balanced beautifully with the hot sauce and escabeche. We also tried: * Ensalada Rusa: The combination of potatoes and beets was delicious. * Pupusa de Loroco: Perfectly cheesy and authentic. * Quesadilla & Horchata de Morro: For dessert, this pairing was the perfect finish. The entire restaurant smells like home, filled with the most amazing aromas. As someone who grew up with these flavors, this meal genuinely took me back to my childhood. Thank you, Popoca, for embracing Salvadoran cuisine and culture so beautifully. The environment is warm, the staff is wonderful, and the food is soulful. I can't wait to come back!

Having never had Salvadoran food before, I was eager to give it a try. As a single diner, it was immediately seated. I asked my server for suggestions, and I went with three dishes. The food came out in about 10 minutes: - Pupusa de bacalao y ajo verde: Good. A very homely dish, but still plenty of sharp flavours. - Yuca con hagos: Good. Probably the dish where I didn't know most of the ingredients, but still made great bite. - Pollo "Campero": Very good. The one dish that would be most familiar with most diners - it was very crispy, and had a surprising sweetness, which was really nice. Service was attentive and friendly. Very good. Overall a nice dinner. For me, it was nice introduction to Salvadoran cuisine. I look forward to trying it again.

Since I was in the area today, I finally went in to get my chicken tamal (if you're not familiar with Salvadorean tamales, they're sooo worth a try! They're wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn and are much more soft and moist). These were $6/tamal. Kinda pricey but they are a bit bigger than most-however the size is moreso due to the amount of masa to meat ratio, which I don't mind since I do love the masa parts. I do wish their chicken was either more shredded or more flavored since some bites of chicken were on the dry side. The bites that wern't so dry were delicious though! Looking at their pics/reviews now it seems other people have tried other kinds of tamales, but I only saw one option on the menu so that's what I went with. All in all, not my absolute favorite tamales, but it hits the spot.

I have curious about pupusa after watching several YouTube video reviews. Although I have seen…read morerestaurants offering them for as so long as I can remember I must admit I have never had any. So today was my day for an adventure. I found this El Salvador Restaurant nearby has decent review albeit not many though. It looked clean and tidy. Walking in around 11:45 am to an empty dimly lit dining, a lady behind the counter greeted me and told to sit anywhere. It was warm with no air circulating as the ceiling fans weren't turned on. I mentioned to her it was my first time having pupusa so she patiently pointed several options. Complimentary chips and salsa were served. I thought the salad needed something to give it kick. I chose lunch #1 that consists of 2 pupusa, plantains, red bed beans and sour cream; separately ordered a lemonade. The drink came short afterwards. It was lemony slightly sweet. My plate came hot as it should and the accompanying coleslaw and red sauce were brought over as well. Pickled coleslaw and red sauce were added to the top of my first pupusa which as the cheese a beans. It was too hot to hold by hand so I ate it with knife and fork. It was definitely something g I never had before. A little hot sauce helped. I wish the doughy covering wasn't so overwhelming as I would appreciate the filling much more. It was the same experience for the second pupusa that was the pork, cheese and beans. Finally the fried plantains, I haven't grown to appreciate at this point and this example didn't improve my opinion, I'm hate to admit. I wasn't sure how to apply the red beans and sour cream so I dipped the plantains in them. I guess I need some guidance. On this initial visit, overall, it definitely was a good experience, service was pleasant, food was good though not sure if it was a great representation of this particular good. But I felt it was a good experience and I'm quite open to trying other dishes here.

22 Feb 2025. 3.7 stars. 12:56 pm…read more Hello! Make sure you check their hours. Some days they are only open from 11am to 3pm. On our first 20 mile drive to visit, they blocked us at the inside of the unlocked front door at 3:12pm. Street parking can be difficult but a short drive\walk distance about a block away is a $3 an hour parking garage. The place looks clean and not too busy. We sit and our waitress Yanira M was perfect. Very nice, patient and attentive. We three shared two carne asada dinners with rice and refried red beans, two coffees, a coke and three pupusas. $101.36 before tip. The menu was confusing to us. First, the use of the menu words "red refried beans" confused us as refried beans have never been red in our lifetimes and these were pretty standard brown pinto bean looking and tasting. Maybe less confusion if they were called refried red beans. Then, we thought dinners came with pupusas. No. They came with two each thick tortillas (same as half pupusas with no filling as I could tell.) I enjoyed these thick homemade tortillas. The steak was not bad but I wish it had been served with its sizzle in tact. Salsa and coleslaw came as condiments though they might have been introduced with different names by Yanira. The coleslaw was a nice touch-served in a small jar with serving tongs. The salsa was tasting a bit like the V8 vegetable juice that you had as a kid or teen if you are a boomer. This meal could have really used some homemade spice sauce to add some kick to it. The main negatives today were the high music level at the back where we sat. That, and a busser man dragging some screeching and protesting chairs across the floor - to set up for a large party I believe. Real ear busters. The best part of the meal was the piping hot pupusas and our coffee. I would go back for those.
