I've been having issues with the front desk for the past year, but recently from February to March they have been neglecting and not respecting their patients. I have called and left multiple voicemails following the rules and policies that they have where you have to leave a voicemail and wait 24 hours for them to call you back. I was seen by Dr. Shimamoto in fall 2024 after an anaphylactic reaction. That visit went well, but over two weeks ago I called the office seeking a new prescription for EpiPens. After calling them 3 times I gave up waiting for a call back and ended up going to a new doctor's office just to replace my expiring EpiPens. Very disappointing and unexpected experience. read more

This practice is so incompetent that I changed my insurance before open enrollment ended just so I could see another practice in another network. They don't answer phones, they don't return calls, they don't communicate. Every single person I dealt with from reception to the physician all behaved with aloofness and disinterest. It's as if the entire practice could accurately represent themselves with a shrug. Asthma and allergy is something to take seriously. Both can be fatal. For about 8 years, I have been a regular patient at this location and will remain a patient as this office is amazing! The front staff is always friendly, and even calls to apologize for a reschedule if someone is out. Today 6/5/23 this happened and they thankfully got me in same day with another doctor as I took the day off work for the appointment. Dr. Shimamoto is always friendly and helps me manage the day to day with my asthma and allergies. Very grateful for this office to help me get my asthma/allergies under control, help with proving my allergy for accommodations, filling out FMLA paperwork when needed, etc. They truly care about you as a patient and so glad to have found their practice! read more

The care from Dr Shimamoto was above exceptional, he and his PA are brilliant. It is his admin/office team that is below expectations. It was error after error after error. And each time they apologized as they were at fault. But nice is not always enough. They are not professional, they have been limited by their training. Payments not recorded, not knowing how to change an appt. The crew is in consistent rollover. It took me no less than one hour each time I called for simple things like rescheduling. If you have time to invest, great doctor, but if you do not have spare time, avoid! read more

Really loved Dr. Shimamoto at my initial visit, but everything else has been terrible. I get allergy injections, and they require an appointment (my previous allergist was walk-in for injections, so MUCH easier and more efficient). Well, to make an appointment, you need to talk to someone. Unfortunately, they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. I called last Monday to make an appointment and called 4 times before I got through, only to be told they weren't taking any appointments due to Christmas (on Thursday). Uh...ok? Waited a week and called today. I've called 5 times so far, no answer. Their office staff is no good. They aren't friendly, and they aren't helpful. I do like the staff that gives the injections, but the whole management/environment is awful. I do not understand how they function if they NEVER ANSWRE THE PHONE. San tan allergy was located in a pretty nice building. The waiting room was large and spacious and look clean. There were plenty of chairs for people that were scheduled for an appointment. The wait time was almost an hour and a half which seemed a little bit too long for me. I hope that they're able to schedule patients a little bit better so that the people don't have to wait. read more

Amazing doctors! My son was having mysterious reoccurring high fevers (with muscle aches and stomach pain) that lasted 1-3 days every single month until we came to San Tan Allergy. He also had brain fog and behavioral issues (he got into fights at school); I'm no expert but I think it was from the repeated fevers and pain. Anyhow, we took him to a rheumatologist as well but it was the immunologist Dr. Corey here that figured out our 8 year old's mysterious ailment!!! He was low on pneumococcals!! The lab work came back and confirmed his hunches. It's been 70 days now without a single fever, muscle ache, or stomach ache. Our son is thriving now in school and at home!!! We feel like we have our wonderful kid again. Thank you, Dr. Corey and San Tan!!!! Highly recommend!!! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I'm even considering contacting a lawyer to dispute what this clinic has put me through. If you have AETNA insurance OR you have a child, then this review is especially useful for you. My toddler (1yr old) had an awful reaction to a food, and we were referred to this clinic to find out what it was. The first appointment they scheduled, was just a consultation. BUT we waited 1hr in a room with little to no AC. My mom stepped out of the room after an 1hr and asked where the doctor was and suddenly the doctor was now available... he definitely forgot about us. He commented "Woah! This room is hot. Sorry for the long wait guys" and tried to make friendly with us. The time the doctor was in the room was 10min for the consultation. We waited an hour for 10min. And they didn't even do testing yet. Hence, they made us schedule a 2nd appt for the lab testing. They claimed it was due to AETNA's insurance policy. They said the testing wouldn't be covered if it was done in one visit. So we came in again with our 1yr old for testing. They were on time but the lady providing the testing did not like children & it clearly showed. She was rude and not kind to a crying baby who was getting poked. Of course he's going to be uncomfortable and squirmy! He's 1yrs old! I tried my best to hold him still for the testing which escalated the tears and she was very annoyed at his crying. At the end of the appt, the rude nurse informed me that she is NOT the doctor so she cannot inform us of his results. So I inquired about a doctor going over that with us, and was told I would need to schedule ANOTHER appt to hear the results. I asked if they could email or call us for the testing results and they said nope. You have to come in to hear the results. No exceptions. I tried to schedule my 3rd appt but they stated due to AETNAs insurance policy, I have to wait 8 days to schedule the 3rd appt. So we scheduled accordingly and came in. For this 3rd appt, just to hear results, we did not bring our 1yr old. Our reasoning: it's over 100 degrees outside, it's a 30min drive, long wait times for appts, just here for talking and the staff isn't friendly towards kids. Big mistake! The front desk receptionist flipped and demanded that we needed our child there to proceed to the appt. They stated that it's an office policy for the patient to be there for every appt even if it's just results. I let her know that I'm his parent and I've signed the guardian paperwork (17 pages of new patient paperwork btw) . She said it didn't matter and he needed to be there to hear the results... I reminded her that's he's 1yr old. She said no exceptions even though I'm his legal guardian. She definitely didn't handle this situation with grace which escalated the situation and I'm already on edge from visiting this clinic WAY too many times. I cancelled the appt and do not ever want to return and advise you to not either. I have since looked into it and I do not think they are legally able to withhold a child's medical results from an authorized guardian. Hopefully they can make this situation right. We'll see if they can make enough time to just email me what my sons allergic to. I'm not sure why they say they accept AETNA insurance when you have to go through soooo much just to get them to cover something at this awful place. This clinic just needs to admit they really don't take this insurance. This clinic will make you jump through hoops to get results and advice. This office is a mess. My last two appointments had to be skipped because the office was running so far behind they couldn't "get to me" before I have to leave so I can make it to class. I will routinely be checked in for allergy shots for 20-30 minutes AFTER my appointment time and then it's suddenly my issue because I didn't check in early enough. There aren't actually allergy shot appointments despite them making you have an appointment it just goes by when someone checked in. It's a huge waste of time and a massive joke. The allergist I was seeing left the practice, I am routinely on hold for 30-40 minutes, get told they can't contact the pharmacy for medication delivery, and get billed for claims they submitted to my insurance (and the insurance paid). This whole practice is awful and I would suggest avoiding it if you can. read more

I'm tired and not in the mood to post a whole story but essentially....... 1. Had to wait over a month for an appointment. 2. Completed new hire paperwork on their online portal and they "couldn't pull it up" so I had to complete everything again in office. 3. Waited 40 minutes only to be told casually that the Doctor was running 45 minutes behind. 4. Waiting area was very congested and everyone there had been waiting for quite some time. I'm assuming people are just here because of insurance/network reasons or something because it can't be that they just enjoy coming here. Anywho, being referred to another allergist tomorrow. I very much enjoyed my visits to this doctors office. I felt the service was extremely quick the times I went. I went at different times and feel I was attended to quickly. Also, I liked that they did not push unnecessary treatments and were very upfront. I felt as though I was in control of my medical needs which I appreciated. Dr. Reeder was also so welcoming and friendly. I felt as though I could speak about my medical needs freely. He was also very thorough in his notes which I appreciated. I would highly recommend this location. There are not a lot of doctors offices like this with great doctors and staff. read more

The doctors are nice here and I got an appointment within a few weeks. I didn't feel like the doctor was too pushy with allergy testing or anything. However, I am considering finding a new doctor because their website is truly horrid. It's impossible to use the patient portal to do things like changing your address because the website won't let you. Your bill comes with a reference to myproviderlink.com but you can't pay it there either. The help chatbot on their website takes hours to return any message. Forget about trying to fill out new patient forms online! Naturally, they don't pick up the phone either. I am stuck sending in my bill payment via snail mail because evidently, it's 1990. read more

Dr Shimamoto is Ahhhmeazing!!!!!!! I have been dealing with numerous doctors over the past 17 months that would not listen, help or give me needed referrals for my baby . (My now 18 month old got Covid when she was one month old and has pretty much been sick 3-4 times a month ever since.) Dr Shimamoto listened and took his time with us. This place used to be great when Dr Jain was our doctor. He was really attentive. Since he left, it has become a mess. Long waits and I was charged $900 for serum that I did not authorize. Instead of doctors, you see practitioners. I don't know who runs it now, but it isn't anything like it used to be. Seems like they would rather turn and burn patients now instead of providing personal treatment. Take your healthcare elsewhere. We tried to get Dr Jain, but he is out of practice. They are way out in San Tan. They called me 15 minutes before my appointment once I was essentially there and cancelled my in person appointment and moved it to a tele appointment. They transfer me to team to get tele health appointment scheduled. Nobody answers and it hangs up on me. Nobody calls me to get my tele appointment scheduled or send me the link. Nobody knows why they switched my appointment to tele health. My last hour has been completely wasted and they couldnt even execute a basic appointment. We've had three appointments here for my 10 year old son. On two of the three appointments I arrived, after taking my kiddo out of school early, to be told my appointment was a day or two later. I work four days a week, home on Tuesdays. There is ZERO percent chance I'd schedule an appointment any other day but a Tuesday. One of those two times they still saw us, despite their fault. Dr. Shimamoto is an angel. He has helped me through several complicated immune and allergy issues over the 12 years I have been a patient of his. Like MANY places, hold times have increased here after the pandemic. I have had my fair share of issues with that as indicated in the negative reviews, but that seems to be everywhere, not just here. What you get at San Tan Allergy that not every other office offers is a Doctor who listens and cares. Thanks to Dr. Shimamoto and team, I have my asthma and hives completely under control. I'd say the only small "con" would be the hold times are really long. It's better to leave a message and get a call hours later. A little inconvenient but it's 2022 and every company is understaffed so it's fine, I've learned to accept the current way of life. They do appear to be a really crazy busy company with appointments book months out. It's fine, none of that stuff where deal breakers. Wasn't an emergency appointment so whatever happened happened. The Pros though. Dr. Hill and her Medical Assistant Catherine were both soooooo nice. They were incredible with my child through the allergy testing and whole appointment. Catherine is really goofy and calming with children. Definitely needed specially doing an allergy test to a kiddo. I'd say she's a great asset to the team. Dr. Hill was super informative, learned quite a bit from her. They made the small "con" part worth it. I'm extremely satisfied I had patience and ended up with these two as our back off people. Went here for skin testing and basic allergy testing. The whole first visit was about 2-3 hours, when you're filling out paperwork it says that estimated wait time on the paper, wish I would've known earlier. Other than the wait, the experience went well. They answered my questions and ordered any prescriptions I needed. They told me about their allergy shot options and even though I didn't find a definitive answer for my issue, it was a nice office with kind nurses and doctors. I didn't get to see the main doctor at my final visit, I only saw Dr. Shimamoto once but he seemed super knowledgeable and kind. Wish I could've had more time with him. They did skin testing and patch testing and took their time with me and my questions. read more

I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Patricia Wong, but I cancelled due to the absolutely horrible treatment I got by they office staff leading up to the appointment. They treat you as if they are doing a favor by allowing you to come in. They won't tell you if testing is covered and refer you to your insurance company. They send you text messages even when you specifically said "no text messages". But the absolute worst is that they simply don't answer their phones. It will take days to get through to them - they do not want to speak to their patients. They prefer doing things online and through text. I recently just called (3 times in 2 days with no return call) to see what my son can take in addition to Claritin as his allergies are acting up due the the weather. They said he needed to be evaluated to make this call- and if we cannot come in to the office, they can do a televisit. I asked why a televisit was an option if he needed to be physically evaluated? I had an appointment scheduled for today, a month in advance. I cleared my teaching schedule for an hour and a half just in case it took longer than normal to talk to the doctor (since we were just supposed to go over lab results), but after waiting for over an hour to see my doctor today, I ended up having to leave without seeing him in order to make the teaching appointment I had rescheduled around my doctors appointment in the first place. Now. I understand doctors offices running behind. Having lived in doctors offices for the past few years, I get the routine, but I've never had to wait almost and hour and a half to see a doctor before, and am astounded about how badly run this office is. Why wasn't I warned they were running behind when I first checked in (a whole ten minutes early, I might add)? The front desk could've said, "Oh hey. We're running [this] many minutes behind, is that okay? Or can we reschedule you?" It would've been mildly annoying, but at least some consideration would've been shown for MY time, as opposed to them saying nothing and then leaving me to sit, confused in the waiting room for over an hour, wondering if they had forgotten to tell the doctor I was even there. I really like Dr. Shimamoto. He's the first doctor I've believed may be able to help me. Well. When I get to see him anyway. So both of the stars awarded in this review are for him. The -3 stars are for the office, just to be clear. When I went back to the front desk, I informed them that I was out of time and had to leave, the gal looked at me confused and promptly walked away to ask someone what to do...? I think? And then I had two more office workers ask me if I was being helped, and I honestly replied that I had no idea. Someone was dispatched to find the doctor, and finally came out to say he was headed to see me now, and I had to repeat myself, saying, "No. I have no more time. I can't stay any longer." I wasn't mean about it. I was annoyed, and that was probably fairly clear as I have a head cold and thus not a whole lot of patience to begin with, but I hate being THAT customer that makes a scene, so I was waiting to see if I could get rescheduled to come back. That didn't happen. I was told that they were going to put a note on my account and to have a good day. Okay.... Customer service is still a thing, even with doctors offices. No patients means no business. That said, if I get charged for this failed visit, fair warning, I'm reporting the office to the insurance company for fraud. read more
