It's too cold to go into the water but you can see a bit of San Francisco on a clear day. Its actually a perfect representation of the Bay Area for visitors. Cold, sky is gray, and rocks near the water is covered with slippery seaweed. At the very end of University Ave you can find plenty of parking and two of the odd/unique attractions. There is a giant sundial near the pier. Its 10 foot in diameter and a gift from Berkeley's sister city Sakai, Japan. There is a giant proto-asian culture style statue called "The Guardian" on the grass. The Guardian is an extrapolation of a six-inch clay and wood sculpture in a Buddhist temple in Penang. The city fiercely resisted Frederic Fierstein's plopping of the Guardian. Fierstein fiercely fought back. Fierstein gathered signatures and placed an initiative on the ballot in support of the Guardian. The worst thing about coming so early are there was a person smoking weed in their car and kept loudly cursing on the phone even with kids and old people visibly around.

It…read morecan be hard at times to find a parking spot but shouldn't be too difficult to park on a side street if needed. There are several parts to this park. One is a flat area with a play scape and a cement slide. There's actually a tunnel nearby that goes under the road and crosses over to the rose garden, which is really cool. The cement slide is a must see for anyone with kids and even if you're an adventurous adult. There are plenty of cardboard boxes around for you to try it out. When I first heard about the cement slide, I didn't think it would be very fun, (cement and sliding didn't go together in my mind) but it is great! Then just a little bit south, above that play scape area, there's a baseball field. So many different people come here to meet. Some people for picnics, some people play soccer, some people play softball, some people bring their dogs. And then inside the woods behind the park, there are a picnic benches. I have a friend who had her wedding reception there. You can reserve them with the city. And then behind the picnic area, there's a hike and if you're very adventurous, there is a waterfall hidden, but it's not easy to find if you don't know about it. I highly recommend this park. During the winter, the baseball field is blocked off with Fence to protect the grass but other parts of the park are accessible.

The safety railings and paved walkways with extra grooves to prevent slippage, especially in steeper sections. The trails would also make a great place to run as most of the paving is flat. I absolutely love this farm!…read more I went for the first time at the beginning of the summer, and I've been back two more times since then! It's a great place to go with your kids, by yourself, or for small meetups. One of the reasons I enjoy this farm is that it's FREE, including parking. We were a bit bummed when we went as a group and saw that feeding the animals is no longer an option, but that information is posted on the website, so I'm not going to fault them for something we didn't double-check. You can brush the goats, so if you're hoping for your little ones to have a close interaction, that's always an option. It's a small farm, so you can walk through it pretty quickly, but there's so much space surrounding the farm that I would honestly plan to bring a blanket if the weather permits and have a picnic. They also have a park, and I would recommend checking out the building. I can't remember the name... I think it's the Nature Area? But they have some cool stuff inside.

It took us 30 minutes to wrap around the whole farm, we visited previously with my son's school on a field trip and it did seem like there were less animals. Same kinds, just less in general. The cows were being washed by what I think were volunteers (younger kids) so my kids didn't really get to see them up close which was the part they were most excited about so it was a bit of a bummer. The goats were uninterested so brushing wasn't an option since they were so far back Chickens and bunnies mind their own business but super cute to look at. Overall, the animals don't seem to care much about the people and keep their distance OR we happen to come on a bad day and they were overwhelmed with all the volunteers (I sure was) I check the website so I totally knew and understand about feeding the animals not being a thing anymore (so I don't get how people blame the farm when it's a quick search to check) BUT they should consider closing or posting a notice when having younger volunteers at the farm learning and taking up all the space and animals. We genuinely didn't get to enjoy them at all because the kids inside the enclosure with them keeping them farther away or just busy in general. Well possibly come back again before summer is up and hope the animals are a bit more active/social lol

Its not a 5 star exclusive type of thing - but its very clean and lawn quality is up to my standards. There is some new concrete work and some artistic concrete benches. Also they boast 'movies in the park' - had to steal that word 'boast' from all the realtors in the world. They are always boasting this and that. Boasting granite, boasting eat in kitchen, boasting big yard... do realtors not have any other vocabulary other than 'boasting?' Signs indicate new bathrooms soon to come. I like how the city of Berkeley chooses to put so much effort into this little park.

The community center is also very nice and they have plays or other events there. I've seen quite a few events there and have also taken Zumba classes. There's also an area between the two parts of the park that has a stream and picnic tables and we often met groups down there and had celebrations. I've also seen work groups meet there for lunch. My kids loved to go hang out there because there were so many things you can do there. The Parks in Berkeley, in general I find just amazing.

I attended the showing of SF Mime Troupe's "Disruption" this past Saturday, an entertaining and comedic musical production reminding the crowd that everything is politics. In addition, I laid out my mat in the grass to enjoy a meal and read a book, appreciating the relaxing and carefree atmosphere.
