I was driving past the location and my children-hood flashed before me. I decided to head on in. With only street parking, if your in a car it's it or miss to get good parking next to the store. Going in it didn't look like the same place. It was completely renovated and looks entirely different. It's even under new ownership so this isn't the place I remember after all. But me being in my mood recently for Spanish food, I loved what I saw. I always start small when I order to test the goods. I got the sausages, potato salad and corn bread. I must say I was impressed! The sausage's were sweet and juicy, the potato salad was the right consistency plus the potato's were soft, and the corn bread had that little bit of sweet in it that I like. I must say it wasn't the place I remembered all those years back, but it definitely was a welcomed change. I will definitely frequent this spot more. There's still so many items I wanna try.

I found out about Karina's Deli from a friend of a friend who told me that he likes the food there…read more I live close by so I decided to try it last month. The place is on Maple Ave and close to the Westbury LIRR. When you walk in you see a bunch of different hot foods chilling there looking tasty. I got a large container ($7) and asked for yellow rice, plantains, and pork (I think it's pernil, but I could be wrong - see the pictures). With tax it came out to $7.60. I paid with credit card and left. I got home and started eating. Wow, it was amazing. First off, they packed a dump load of food in the container, which I really appreciated. The pork wasn't ultra soft, but felt apart decently well. It tasted so good and had some sort of crazy glaze to it that was so tasty. The pork is just crazy good; end of story. The rice and plantains were also ultra satisfying too. Nothing much to really describe but it complimented the pork about as well as possible. Hopefully I have consistently great experiences when I go back in the future. For now I think this is 5 star status for sure. My meal was immensely satisfying and the value is unbeatable. Punta Cana on Post Ave has amazing ratings that are well deserved, but I think this place might be better. Guess we'll see based on future visits.

Yes the workers are polite but on my 1st visit I find a womans hair in my plate which was drowning in sauce which I did not request (hate wet rice). Bettter of hitting Punta Cana DR Grill, for $1 more you get better tasting Dominican food!

I would say the food is good and probably a great place to get pick up lunch orders. But I had…read moreCatered lunch for a corporate event here through ez-cater and maybe that was one of the reasons my review/rating is less than perfect. I ordered a variety of subs, and sides to serve 12 people. Our order included: - Chicken with fresh mozzarella - Italian meats/cheese - Marinated vegetable with fresh mozzarella sub - fruit salad - Caesar salad - cookies All of the food items tasted good and everyone was happy with the selection. The bread used was particularly delicious. There was plenty of food left over, and I could have easily ordered 30-40% less for the number of people, but the way the orders are described, it's hard to tell how many people each sub feeds (ie: what is considered a serving size, how many pieces are included per sub). A few things to note/areas for improvement (reminder: this was through ex-cater): 1- They do not offer any drinks through ez-cater. This is a miss. I would have loved to order a variety of drinks to accompany our lunch. And when I tried to call the deli directly, noone ever answered the phone. 2- The cookies were small and hard, not a "bakery style" cookie I was expecting. More like a chips ahoy. 3- They charge $3.75/person for "utensils" which were delivered as a handful of unwrapped plastic forks. No napkins, plates, knives or spoons. I paid about $40 for a dozen plastic forks, which was insane. Overall the food quality was very good. However, the inability to order drinks and getting priced gauged for plastic forks are detractors. I'd come again for an in person order, unless they charge $3.75 for a fork, then I'll pass.
