We went here Sunday at 1500. Not good. The staff was unhappy. Just that , unhappy. No smiles just blank stares a weak hello and asked how many and sat us. OK, well who likes to work on Sunday right. Alright so, sat down and immediately noticed my arms sticking to the table. Ok, well that's gross. Next was drinks. We had Ice Tea, sugarless. Mine was ok, very watery but cold, my wife sent hers back, I don't blame her. Ok, so we order. We both had appetizers she had the fried Calamari which was so tuff she had to cut it with her fork and knife. I see on the reviews someone said stay away from that, I fully concur, they do not know how to cook calamari. It was just like a rubber band. Or as my wife put it just as tuff as a human artery! (She is a funeral director so I get comparisons like that on a variety of topics.) Ew. Moving on, I had the Gyoza. Which is not real Gyoza its those cheap ass pot sticker's you buy at the Walmart. Not anything like what you get in Japan. Oh, lets get something strait as far as the food we had here, there is no comparison to restaurants in Japan. This place would not last a day in the worst neighborhood in Japan. In any case they had hair on them and they were not cooked fresh , they were dry and rubbery. This means to me they were pre cooked, refrigerated, taken out and warmed in a microwave. Who knows how old they were. Same with the calamari. I think the calamari was precooked. Then taken from the fridge, batered and fried.....Sent the Gyoza back but did not get them redone I just told them to canx that part of the order. No manager no "so sorry", nothing. I had the teriyaki steak. Just a cheap piece of thin meat covered in bottled sauce. Tasted like cardboard covered in ...yep...bottled teriyaki sauce. My wife had the chicken tempura which was a large plate of food. It had tempura veggies and the chicken. I tried some and it all tasted like deep fried paste, no spice no salt no flavor at all. Oh and the little salad and soup, the salad dressing tasted like burnt I don't know what, the soup was the stuff you buy in the store for 95c a packet and microwave at home. I see the 4 and 5 star reviews and I'm just flabbergasted. I even looked at a lot of the profiles to see if these reviews were plants. Nope they all for the most part look legit. I don't get it folks. Was it just the sushi that was ok? I hate to say we wont go back after just one visit to a place but they have really , really disappointed. This was the WORST hibachi I've ever had. I ordered the hibachi chicken dinner which comes with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, and rice. The vegetables and chicken were SMOTHERED in soy sauce and way too salty. And I never received my shrimp appetizer. My husband had the seafood teriyaki and he said his food tasted unseasoned. I lived in Japan for five years before moving to Altus, OK so I am a little hard to please when it comes to Japanese food. These guys do a great job for a fair price. The food is wonderful, you can't find this level of authenticity in Lawton. The owner told me their fish is flown in by UPS from Hawaii so it's always fresh, and you can taste it in the sushi and sashimi. The shrimp tempura is fantastic, 5 large prawns with a variety of vegetables fried beautifully. The habachi is just a gimmick, tried it once and that's enough. The kitchen seems slow or short handed, make sure you have plenty of time to eat if you go. read more

We almost didn't go in because the outside could honestly use some work, but one step inside and we were very comfortable. Less fancier than Kimono, but better prices. They've got a really good lunch special menu and also a decent selection of Sake. Whenever I go I usually get the sushi and sashimi which comes with salad and miso soup. It's a filling portion for $21. They have messed up my orders twice, but all is forgiven. I am sushi spoiled. Not your typical Nobu of course, although it's great enough in Lawton. Japanese sushi place with tepanyaki corner. I had the Hawaiian sushi and soba mixed that was delicious. Was very disappointed, would not recommend. Definitely not worth the money. The exterior is pretty rough and unkept the interior is better but still not very well kept. The staff had a difficult time understanding and answering simple questions and accurately taking simple orders, no customer service. The sushi was not fresh, tasted like 2 day old ingredients, and was not brought in a timely manner. The hibachi grill was a little better but again not very fresh and took at least 30 minutes after ordering for it to get started. I would not recommend and will not return. A family came in and sat down and actually got up and left after a few minutes, was a good choice on their part. read more

Coming from Houston, we get some descent sushi. I've had my fair share. I ordered a Philly Roll and a Veggie Roll. They were the best of each that I've had! The Damon was large and fresh in the Philly. The Veggie Roll has some strange "o" word that is almost like a pickle relish but chunkier; so complimentary! This place was excellent when I went for lunch. My friend and I both ordered a bento box, per the suggestion of the waitress. I'm not usually crazy about bento boxes, but this one was excellent. Two years ago this place was the best place to get sushi and tempura but recently it's gone downhill. I've gotten sick twice from the shrimp tempura now. I will say that the bento boxes are well worth the price you pay, it's a whole lot of food for not much money! First time at Samurai tonight everything was great! We were going to wait 45 minutes to get into Kobe so we called Samurai and was able to get in right away. I was hesitant at first because there wasn't many people there but everything was great! I will defiantly return to Samurai! I regret to give this place a poor review because I had heard good things, but recently I had a bit of a bummer experience. My family and I dined at one of the hibachi areas. My sister and I told the waitress that we each wanted a specialty roll and a side of hibachi fried rice. The pre-meal salad my Mom ordered had insanely limp greens and way too much of the house dressing, which tasted like watery honey mustard. Our hibachi chef started out very friendly but no special tricks or anything- he also only prepared one food at a time instead of having the others on the grill next in line so he took longer. He served hibachi rice to everyone except my sister and me, and once we corrected him, he was clearly upset and thrown off. The other family at our table had to request the volcano trick for their kids. Everyone had their food and our sushi was STILL not out. Our waitress then brought us two small sides of fried rice from the back, which didnt make sense. Why would we not get the rice we watched the chef make? They ended up not charging for the funny tasting sushi, but they did charge for FOUR sides of fried rice. We didn't even get an apology for the mix ups. Not a good experience, nothing special about the food and disappointing service so I wont be returning. read more

Best sushi place in Lawton. The staff is so friendly! They were genuinely friendly not like that 'just trying to get a good tip' kind of friendly. They played with our baby whenever they came by to check on us. The food was great. We ordered five different rolls and didn't have to wait long for them to be delivered to us. It was delicious.
