I guess I really should thank my general practitioner first ... he recommended I see Dr. Marcus. But that compliment belongs in another review. This summer (of 2009) I re-visited Dr. Marcus' office, having last had the pleasure five years back (all very routine). This time, he did discover some disconcerting matters. Some directly related to his field of expertise. Needless to say, he is avidly addressing of all them. However, he also unearthed other facts about my health which needed attention. He recommended yet another superb specialist to follow up on them. Additionally, as a result of his observations of my oxygen levels under sedation, he suggested a sleep behavior test. Its findings were nothing short of LIFE CHANGING. I wasn't complaining about my health at the onset of all these machinations, but, until you put yourself under the care of a doctor like Marcus, you never really know how much healthier you COULD be. He continuously collects data from all these other experts, weaves them into one holistic diagnosis, suggests additional medicines, tests, and lifestyle changes. In taking this approach, he is doing for you things that you would usually expect from your primary care physician. And he's the kind of "health pest" every person needs. Every so often he or his wife calls -- well after normal working hours -- to follow-up on something prescribed or to pro-actively suggest some new idea that he just thought of (a sure indicator of the fact that he is thinking of his patients EVEN AFTER they've left the office). This care is on HIS time, not my dime. Net net, do you get the feeling that I entrust my life to this guy? Let me put it this way: Our government is trying to figure ways to provide all citizens with QUALITY healthcare, the best in the world (we hope). Our leadership should use Dr. Marcus as an exemplar of virtue. We'll know we've arrived when all citizens can enjoy his definition of proper healthcare. read more

I would know earlier there are actually a lot of people have issue about the bill from DR Marcus. I was suggested from my general practice to see specific gastroenterologist that is DR Marcus. I wanted to get a colonoscopy check to make sure I don't have stomach cancer since my family had stomach cancer history. we made an appointment as schedule and the front staff called me and told me that I might spend $975 at my own side since my insurance doesn't cover all. I thought about it and decided with my husband and agreed with that. after the colonoscopy check, we received a bill about $900bukcs, and we paid it, and then after 3 months, we receive another bill of $600 dollars which I don't know why, and bill statement is not related to the test that I did. so fine, my husband still paid it. the more angry thing is we receive any exact same $600 buck bill. I tried to ignore that bill and later on I got a warning letter that I will be put into a court if I still didn't pay. So we paid again of the third bill, we are super piss off and I swear if I get another bill, I am going to take action on that. read more

Beware. Dr. Marcus seems like a good Dr., however, the connection between his practice and the facilities he works in can leave you owing a lot of money. The problem is that they are two different entities and the receptionist does not tell you that. Long story short, when you have a procedure done you might be informed that Dr. Marcus accepts your insurance only to receive a huge bill for the procedure itself from the facility. Why? because Dr. Marcus works in the Mtn. View Endoscopy clinic, yet, it just might not be a covered under your insurance. Does the receptionist tell you-no. Surprise! A big fat bill!! read more

Dr Samuel Marcus and his fellow Dr's, along with his whole staff are amazing. They are always busy, but when there is a crisis they will do there best to get you an appointment as soon as available. Dr. Marcus and Joann spend so much time in your appointment, they are very thorough and show so much care for their patients. My doctor used Mountain View Endoscopy to preform my procedure. All went well. The nightmare came through their billing office. Upon receiving the first bill, I paid immediately. That was $911 in October 2016. November - I receive another bill. I wrote a note and said that I have already paid the bill and asked them to call me. No call. December, another bill. I called both numbers on the bill. One gets no answer and no reply to messages left - 885-215-4615. The other, 916-529-4900, when answered, say they have nothing to do with Mountain View Endoscopy. Now comes the letter of collection from a collection agency for a bill that I paid, and have proof of, months prior. I call the -4900 again and the woman answering gave me another number to call. I called that number and they said that my bill is showing outstanding. I faxed her the proof. She walked that to accounting and yes, it has been paid but, it was credited to another business. She said they will fix it. It is now March and I am still receiving bills. If you have the option to choose another business for your procedure, do. The stress they add to your life is counterproductive to you getting your gastro issue taken care of. read more

I had a colonoscopy with Dr. Marcus. The staff is terrific. They made the procedure go easy and Dr. Marcus has an excellent bed side manner. This is the place to go for a procedure that is necessary but not a lot of fun. read more

I don't know when the reviewers below visited Dr. Marcus, but the practice I have been a patient at for the past month has literally worked wonders. The reception staff are very kind, the lady who does scheduling and billing is obviously dedicated to her job and very knowledgeable about her work. During my initial visit, Dr. Marcus' lovely wife greeted me and collected a very thorough oral medical history and detailed account of the problem I had been having. A week later, Dr. Marcus and his friendly staff worked with me in the operating room, prepping me for the procedure I was having done. I for the problems I was visiting for, I had seen five previous doctors and had a surgery before seeing Dr. Marcus. After ten months of discomfort, Dr. Marcus fixed my problem. Upon a follow up visit, Dr. Marcus and all of his staff were genuinely glad to find out I was healing so well.
