We came here a couple of weeks before Xmas. Service was spot on and attentive. The seasonal cocktails were what you'd expect, nothing overly special. Visited last night around 7pm. It was dead considering the M's were playing and it was Taco Tuesday. Service: 1 Server didn't seem to care. Took forever to come get our order. Once food was delivered, we never saw her again. We both would have ordered more drinks, but didn't have an opportunity. When finished and ready to cash out, we couldn't find her. She was at the bar talking to other servers who seemed to be off the clock. I went to the bar to cash out and she said, "what do you need"...like she was just pissed. Off night I guess. I normally leave +20%, but certainly not last night. Food: 3 It was just OK. I've been there and had better. Restrooms: 1 Closed for some reason. The sigh referred us to toilets on the patio. This is the place to find the working class and sports watchers. Add the two types to one dive bar and you get quite the unique crowd. It's not a bad thing at all...I enjoyed it a lot and I could see why it's a favorite in the area. I looooove their selection of IPAs. There are so many that I had difficulty choosing....a problem that is always welcome. My favorite so far: white bluff nectar. I also ordered the loaded tots, which was pretty sizable. I shared with three other people to pick at while drinking and we still had leftovers. It wasn't the best in the world, but I would definitely reorder it. There were about 12 brews on tap (with about 3-4 of Ellensburg's own Iron Horse Brewery--woo woo!). We hung out here on a Saturday night after a movie. There was a decent and varied crowd here. We all shared a dish of nachos--it was pretty huge. If you want popcorn, you can scoop up your own for free from the popcorn machine in the corner. A group of my friends has been trying to get together weekly or so for dinner, drinks, etc. I was a bit hesitant this week when I was told it would be at Sam's (why the hell are we going to a bar for dinner?). Once again, it was a lesson that I should just shut up and do what I'm told. First, I was surprised that the place wasn't obnoxiously loud, blaring crappy music. Second, there was an actual menu...with three folds...and it had cuts of meat, not just burgers. Their special was a 12-oz ribeye dinner, for the low, low price of $15. I went with that. My biggest surprise was when it arrived. Perfectly cooked (why is it so tough to get medium rare?), nicely seasoned, and not riddled with fat and gristle. I'd be willing to say it's the best steak I've had in town. Also came with a baked potato, some tasty corn, and a house salad, all pretty good. The potato was smaller than average and just slightly dry, but not bad and forgiveable based on everything else. Service was good for a bar, our server came around several times, provided timely refills, and was generally attentive without being irritating. It wasn't busy, so this probably wasn't too tough on her, but she made the effort. I didn't look closely at the drinks, since I wasn't indulging tonight, but did hear her report they've got 32 beers on tap, and it's not all the watered-down swill typical to a dive bar (I noticed Rolling Rock on tap, so it's a good thing I didn't go to college here....). Presumably they've also got a selection of bottled beers & wines, and I recall getting mixed drinks here years ago, so the liquor flows as well. Bottom line, the food is worthy of a stop, and there's no reason to leave thirsty. I'll be back. And hopefully someone else can drive next time. read more
