After a hiatus, my wife and I decided to give Sam's Pizza Palmdale another try for lunch! We used to order from them, but a change in management led to a couple of less-than-stellar experiences, so we took a break. When my wife suggested them for our Thursday lunch, I was a little hesitant but willing to see if things had improved after about a year. Initially, it felt like the old issues might still be there. I called at 11:15 am to place a pickup order for 12:30 pm, and the phone rang several times with no answer - a familiar frustration from before. Luckily, just as I was about to hang up, the owner answered and took my order for a large build-your-own pizza with extra cheese , pineapple , and grilled chicken ($19.09 + tax). When I arrived at 12:20 pm, my pizza wasn't quite ready, but the owner was polite and assured me it would be out at 12:30 pm. True to his word, it was ready right on time! The moment of truth came when we both took a bite, looked at each other with a smile as we savored the soft texture of the pizza. Definitely give this place a try - we're coming back! The pizza used to be a solid 5/10, but tonight I can tell that improvements have been made. Tonight's pie was a strong 8/10. But the pic attached is why I'm writing this review. It's not the same Sam's pizza since the new management took over a while back. Barely enough sauce and cheese to cover the pizza. Ask to substitue bell peppers for olives and no...the olives cost extra. I'm sure I'm not getting a discount for no bell peppers. I'll keep going because they are a couple of blocks from home but if it's more misses than hits going forward I may just take a drive a little further down to Rigatony's a bit more often. We have been going to Sam's for pizza for years. Tonight was our first time since Sam retired. It has gone from the best pizza in the AV, to probably the worst!! The crust was burned (black) all around the edges. Toppings were literally piled up in the middle. The ham was burned and tasted like pepperoni. They need to change the name of business so Sam's old customers don't expect a quality pizza. Definitely barely deserves one star. read more

We were surprised to be told that the store was closed at 9:20 p.m. when the website and business front door said they closed at 10 p.m. The front door of the business was open but when I entered I was told that they were closed. The woman at the business was not very friendly and would not make us a pizza even though it was 9:20 p.m. on a Saturday night. I am not writing this review to speak on the quality of their pizza because I've heard good things, but my mom and I wanted to check it out and see what the hype was about. When we arrived, we were not greeted by the staff and they requested we used their kiosk to take our order. That was not a problem, but when we had a question, both employees failed to help us out until we asked again. Overall, they were not friendly and I just didn't want to give them my business.
