I bought a kitchen fluorescent light today. When I got back to the job site I opened the box and realized that one of the clips that holds the circular bulb was broken. Being that the light is being used in a high visible area I decided to go and exchange for new one. I knew the second he looked at me and saw the box he was starting to be arrogant. He had a smirk on his face talking down to me like i was 5 years how it was "my guys fault" insinuating somebody else was installing other than myself. He goes on to rant how he's been selling this light for 20 years and they are never broken and pretty much again telling me its my fault but he goes to get another light fixture. This time I open it right in front of him. He says "there you are," I said yeah and do you see it? He refuses to see it until i point it out. Helen Keller could see it was damaged! The center part where the screw goes thru to attach to the ceiling box is bent. I said and i guess there is more than one thats damaged. He proceeded to tell me I could fix it by pushing out the dents with my finger!! The point was I was buying a new light fixture, not a used one. Then proceeded to tell me that God will punish people like me and I told him no, God will punish you for trying to sell me vanilla and calling it chocolate. Then he got extremely mad like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld because he was proven wrong! He screamed at me, "you want to play games, ALL SALES ARE FINAL". I walked out and went down the block to buy a new light from the other hardware store down the block. Pretty much the same light just a better transformer and properly attached with two screws and not like the one screw he sold me. I have been going here for years. Its near by and he has alot of stuff in his store. He is packed to the ceiling. I always try to support the little guy in lieu of Home Depot but its service like that makes you think twice. This is not the first time he has been arrogant. Last November, I understand he works long hours and needs a break so he sends in his wife and kids to run the store. Again, nothing wrong with that its wonderful to see a family work together. His wife knows where the basics are, but if you ask for something specific she face times him and they look for it. Anyhow i went thru all the drawers and couldn't find what I was looking for so i left and went to an electrical supply house. It was a Saturday and wanted to finish the job asap. The following day i returned to purchase some other stuff, he says the switch you were looking for was right here, could you not see. In my mind I was like WTF is wrong with this guy? Do I look like your worker?? You should be happy I tried to find what I was looking for in your jam packed store so you could make a sale!! read more
