Best store in Elmhurst! Seems to have everything that you need for the apartment at relatively decent prices. Staff is pretty helpful!

This shop is so well organized. I went to look for my DIY night stand. I was pleased to find everything I was looking for without being completely lost. While I was there, a tube light fell from somewhere. I don't know if the customer did it or it fell on its own, but the owner handled it calmly. Don't get fooled by lower rating. read more

I really needed a tape measure and didn't want to go out of way to Home Despot... and I sure paid for the convenience of this local shop. $20 for a 25' tape measure. Doesn't even have metric on it. Won't be back unless there's something I desperately need, but will chafe at paying for it. The staff were very friendly but that doesn't make up for the cost. read more

Horrible new management that have no carpentry training and bad customer service. I went in to get a simple drill bit and anchors. The guy there gave me the wrong sizes so I came back with the screws and anchors for the mirror I want to install so he can get me the right ones. He says no the anchors you have are no good. He gives me other ones but in fact my anchors were custom for this mirror. Now I can't install my mirror because he did not return one of my anchors and when I called to ask if they could please look on the floor or see if it was thrown out - they basically couldn't care less to help me and said ok ok and hung up on me. I call back and they won't answer. Finally I got through and they put the Latin guy on who had seemed nice in person. He tells me with an annoyed tone, "I'm really busy just come in and look for it yourself". I couldn't believe it. This bad experience was totally avoidable! All they had to do was say "we are sorry about that! Please leave us your number and we will look for it and call you back". But i guess you would have to care to have that sort of response. I should have gone to my usual hardware on 37th/88 St. they are pretty solid. read more

It is Sunday 6pm and you blow a fuse. WTF! There is no power in the kitchen or bathroom and the fuses I have are not the right amps! Stress level just jumped to critical..... Home Depot is a 20 min drive away (but I am parked in a great parking space and don't want to move) and probably an hour to search thru the mess in HD for the right fuse. Well lucky me Broadway Hardware is just two block away and opens until 7:30pm on Sunday! I was in and out of the place in 5 minutes with the right fuse. Warm beer disaster averted. BTW- They are well stocked in emergency plumbing fixes and the guy was very helpful in finding what I need. read more

This is definitely the closest I've ever seen a mom & pop shop come close to emulating a Home Depot. Broadway Hardware has never failed me (well, almost never) as the go-to spot for your houseware/hardware supplies in Elmhurst. They have everything; from plumbing supplies to dinner plates to key cutting (even most Medeco keys!). The staff is very helpful (although they may be suspicious of unfamiliar patrons because of their proximity to Elmhurst hospital) and pleasant. They've been able to navigate me quickly to what I'm looking for (through the claustrophobically stocked aisles) with almost no effort. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. I bought cut to order shades here, but they cut it 1/4 inch two small, even though i confirmed THREE TIMES that i wanted my shades 31 1/2 inches tip to tip. They made me stand outside in the heat while they cut it. It wouldnt fit in my window, so i brought it back. The cashier accused me of lying and insisted i buy a new one. I bought tools to install the now useless brackets at this store too - couldnt get a refund on those either. These folks are shysters - they overcharge, they dont do their jobs properly, and they are rude as hell. read more

I've never ever had any the experience in any store like the one I just had in this place. Mind you, Ive been going here for many years because I live close by. So last night I bought 4 2-packs of AAA Panasonic alkaline batteries and they did not have enough power left in them to operate the P-touch label-maker they were being used in. The display was reading REPLACE BATTERIES. And display was so low you could hardly see it, but because they had that little bit of power left and they use a dummy meter [with no actual reading] only: Good / Dead] - and it was still hitting into the green, though barely, they refused to exchange them for working batteries! "You should not have bought the cheap brand" "It's still good" I was totally shocked. They would not let me leave even though I paid over the difference of the cost of the new batteries, there was still another $3.00 due. I had no more cash on me and it just seemed absurd that they would rather create a huge drama over nothing, with a customer they know, than do the right thing. I could care less about the cost of the batteries. I didnt even see the Durcacell's when I was there or would have bought those. It was simply a matter of principle. Finally, after 15 minutes of drama another customer ended paying the $3.00 for me! If I had not been so rushed for work, I would not have allowed him to do so. So for a couple of dollars they lost a customer who has easily spent a $2-300.00 in there over the years. It's one thing to disagree with a customer if the customer is wrong, and quite another to sell them dead batteries and then refuse a store credit or exchange. I will NEVER set foot back in this store. read more

Near the Post Office on Broadway. The staff is very helpful. I showed the handyman what was broken and asked what I could do to fix it. He took my parts and gave me a new "boiler drain" and just took out the washer in the other. read more

I just had to share the excellent service this place gave me. The locksmith came in less than 10 minutes to change my lock. Their prices for the labor and parts were very reasonable as were the prices for the extra set of keys. All in all it was such an easy process. They are very well stocked and answered all of my questions. Whether you need supplies or a locksmith, this is definitely the place to go. read more

LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!! DO NOT GO THERE!! I went there to make 2 copies of keys, $3, cheap, right? I gave that lady $20 bill then I told her I have 3 singles, so she returned my bill, but wait! she gave me a $10 bill?!!! I told her I gave her a $20 bill and she said "No, you gave me $10!" . I was in a hurry and I was unsure what I really gave her so I left. Then several minutes later I realized that's definitely not the truth! I just took 5 $20 bills from the bank this afternoon and the money in my wallet is not correct now! I returned immediately, ok, they closed! I fell really really bad! not just $10 dollars, it's the way how she scammed me, it's a really disgusting way! read more

The reason i gave them the 2 stars, the credit goes to the spanish guy who works there as a locksmith. He is very nice. The 2 asian women should not be working there, with the worse attitude ever and want to talk over customer's voice speaking their own language and gave out whateva amount of price they want to charge customer which is so unprofessional. i would never want to go back again cuz of those two. read more

Terrible experience I've never had!!! But just due to services from the short hair cashier lady! I asked a few questions about the item I would like to purchase; she's out of patience and yelled at me that "ASK WHEN YOU PURCHASE!!!" Excuse her!!!Seriously? Broadway Hardware store has been in the neighborhood as long as I could remember. They also have a locksmith service. I've been coming here for years to get my keys copied. The people here do it right and cheap. Only a $1.50 per key. They do a better job than the other hardware store down on Broadway and the Broadway Discount store down towards Queens Blvd. They also carry a variety of household items and tools. I do wish that their store was a bit cleaner and that the items they sold weren't so dusty and dirty. read more
