I am a loyal customer and shop very often at Sam's. It never fails that they cancel items in my order, 30 minutes before arrival. This leaves me no opportunity to substitute and in this case, I am short TWO trays of cheesecake for Christmas desserts! WTH am I supposed to do now? Typically these chains are all the same in terms of product inventory and diversity. To me, what makes one stand out more than the other is the shopping experience which entails cleanliness of the facilities. My problem with the freehold location is it's got one of the dirtiest bathrooms I've ever been to for Sam's club. As a resident of Freehold, I venture here often but comparing my visits to Sam's clubs in other states I've resided in, its sanitation is very sub par. Have you ever been somewhere where people just literally suck at everything they do? If you haven't, and are interested in something like that, I HIGHLY recommend Sam's in Freehold. This place is an absolute disgrace, and has gone significantly down hill over the years. Oh, and absolutely forget about a pick up order - that's a total joke. They'll charge your card and your order will not be ready at the time you scheduled. As far as customer service - well that's also a joke. Maybe some people like handing their money to someone that can't even say thanks or smile. As I'm typing this, I'm trying to think of one single redeeming quality, but I simply can't. My advice is skip Sam's and join Costco. Oh and if you want products and choices that are actually somewhat healthy, Costco is your best bet. Karen O. in the Optical department has loose screws! She made a simple contacts purchase seem like confusing puzzle. The lenses were $88.88 per box. In order to qualify for the Bausch & Lomb rebate, I had to purchase a one year supply, a total of 8 boxes. So, 8 x $88.88 = $711.04 without the insurance discount. I asked how much I must pay out-of-pocket after my insurance contribution and presented the rebate info posted on the website. Karen, along with her colleagues, became awfully slow and confused. At first they thought Baush + Lomb would apply a $200 discount on top of the purchase, then they claimed that my insurance would only cover $120 of the $150 available for lenses, due to some kind of insurance code within the Sams Club system. After about 1 hour she finally processed my order, and determined that I owe $561.04 and that I am eligible for a $300 gift card from the manufacturer, not $200 off contacts at the register. As soon as I got home, I immediately contacted my insurance company, demanding an explanation of $30 difference with Sams Club on the phone. Karen informed my insurance agent that it was because of how their system processes bulk orders, total bs! The agent confirmed that it was illegal for a company to charge an arbitrary amount, based on "codes" and insisted that I wait until Sams Club submits a final claim. One week later, it turns out, they charged my insurance for $150, which explains exactly what I paid at the register! You see $711.04-150.00=561.04!!!! I went back to the store to discuss the matter with the GM, but the Optical Dept was closed. The Customer Service booth claimed that their management can't access an itemized invoice, showing the insurance coverage. They claimed it was inaccessible because of the "prescription" even though it had absolutely nothing to do with the prescription. Then they insisted that I talk to the weirdos in the Optical Dept again! This is how pathetic these people are in person. You can spend your money there but if there's ever a problem they will give you the ol' runaround. If you ever purchase anything from the Sams Club Optical joke, make sure you do all the calculations beforehand. It doesn't hurt to bring a geriatric psychiatrist along. Unfortunately, the Samsclub.com system can't process insurance payments immediately yet. I don't know if good ol' Karen thinks its funny. I certainly don't find it entertaining. Sam's Club is a giant bulk item discount store that requires a membership. This Sam store has some deals that are better than anywhere else. For one thing they have a food concession stand that has the lowest prices for items like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza slices, & soda than anywhere else you will find. Also the food portion is generous as well - a big hit with the kids for sure. Another deal not to be missed is that they sell very large rotisserie chickens for less than five dollars. This chicken can actually feed a family unlike those small rotisserie chickens that you can buy in grocery stores for maybe a dollar less. They also have another good deal, they have a discounted jewelry and perfume stand in the middle of the store. You can find jewelry here for less and very good quality. This is the first place I go when shopping for jewelry. This giant store really has everything - produce, meats, clothing, grocery items, outdoor furniture sets, desks, beds, you name it. So why not award this establishment with a four or five star rating. Well there are some drawbacks. For one thing if you come anytime during the day you are almost certain to wait in a long slow moving lines when checking out. Also before you can exit the store there are employees at the door checking your receipts. This extra step can take at times an additional five minutes or so which is very frustrating. If you go first thing in the morning or at the end of the day like 8 o'clock at night there will be less people. But as I learned when I went last night at 8 o'clock not all of the service counters are staffed. I wanted to buy jewelry and there was no one at the jewelry counter. It took over a half an hour for the store to send someone over there to wait on customers - quite a disappointment. Also like other club stores some of the bulk items really are not much of a bargain so you have to be careful what you buy there. Sam's Club has some really good reasons for you to be a member. Like discounted jewelry and perfume, the best rotisserie chickens you will find, the lowest price concession stand with big portions that you will find. But expect long lines during most of the day and not so great customer service. read more

They're either changing their suppliers or they're just carrying less merchandise. Looking for a specific type of salmon which they stated its a seasonal item. The employee walked around and around and could not find it either. Then after a while he called it in and found out they're no longer carrying that item. It was very irritating. The guy admitted while they do move merchandise around so that you as a consumer need to walk around and "discover" new merchandise, sometimes they forget where it is. I'm not amused. Insert sour puss cat face here. White it's very aggravating because this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I'm going to throw a few comparisons of this warehouse with the Costco in Marlboro. More often than not, many of the items and prices are similar, but shopping in both locations I noticed that the meat department has more selection (fresh and prepared) at Costco. Same can be said about the fruit, vegetables. There's more to choose from. What Sam's has is a good wine and beer section. They carry a variety reds and whites from domestic and abroad. They also have a decent macro and micro brew selection. I also like the self check out aisle that Sam's has that Costco doesn't. It's convenient. Sam's has cheap eats at their food court. The prices for pizza, hot dogs, drinks are so inexpensive a small family can eat for less than $20. Depending on the time of year you go, you will see different outdoor and household items show up in stock. That's also true for clothing and toys. There will be holiday items out up a couple months before the actual holiday. This place also offers some tire and minor auto work. They also have an auditory and vision center. If you have the means, you should sign up for their personal membership. It actually pays for itself. There are items not in the warehouse that can be purchased only online. Lot of times it may be cheaper than online stores like Walmart and Amazon. read more

I have to preface this by saying... I have been to this location MANY times with no issues. Unfortunately, I just couldn't let this particularly horrible experience go to wayside. The night manager on 12-17 is a complete moron. A WEEK before Christmas, he decides to be a genius and only have two lines open... wrapped around the freaking store. Not fun to wait at last 30 minutes in line with a tired and bored 16 month old. Worst part is that he decides to open up another line and take people who had only been waiting for like 5 minutes! Where they do that at? Apparently at the Freehold Sam's Club. When called out on it, he says something like... "so what, this is the line I'm taking." They usually have enough selection in the stuff I buy. Prices may not be cheaper but this is like a mall, everything in one building. check out is usually long even with self check out. I got screwed at the pharmacy. I was getting a $65 medication for my dog every six weeks. The associate scans my card, I pay for it with the same card and leave. One day the pharmacist took care of me. She noticed that I was a plus member and said I get a discount. Only $5. I told her that I was paying $65 and she gave me a refund for the past six months. I tried to contact people online to get a refund for the total period but no one replied to me. Then someone did. I was able to get a refund for a little more because they have a time limit on refunds. The feeble excuse I got for the overcharge was that the pharmacy computer doesn't read that I am a plus member. Strange since it reads that I am a paid up plus member. If you use the pharmacy then check the discount list for plus members or you will not get it. read more

I just got robbed for $45. I signed up with coupon that gave a $45 gift card and they said I would get it via email. 3 months later I call to find out where it it is and they have no record. Be aware if you are using any coupon to sign up make sure you get your gift card right then or take a pic of the coupon for proof. Employees will sign you up and never even put your coupon in and say they will email. This Sams is a well run store as long as you don't go there on the weekend, the weekends there are nuts but the staff is great they move people along. I have been a loyal SAMs Club member for 10 years and have happily declined to renew my membership this year and move my business to Costco. In the last year I have had NUMEROUS issues with them especially the Pharmacy. Rude, incompetent people should definitely consider a career in SAMs pharmacy you will be in like company. I has one particular incident and worked my way up the chain of morons right up to their manager to no avail. I transferred all my family's prescriptions to Costco which is closer to my home and cleaner, bigger and better selection. Best yet all my ins copays were cheaper at Costco! Unlike other Sam's locations that do not serve hard alcohol, this place not only has aisles of beer, wine, mixers and liquor, but also sells dozens of nice box sets which serve as great Christmas presents. For example, you can frequently get a bottle with a nice set of glasses at a reasonable price. You have a lot ofttimes on your hands. had tires installed,1 of 4 tires leaked 1 week later. returned, was told it was a bent up pressure tire sensor gasket/washer which they don't carry. so called mechanic claimed he put sealant on which should hold.NOT! Went to private tire shop and found they screwed it up during install and this sealant should not have been used. insult to injury . missing 2 lug nuts. returned reluctantly to attempt to recover lug nuts. Was told it wasn't them but we can look threw the bucket of nuts they have in the the shop. what does that tell you! read more
