We had been through a flood a couple times at other properties in Anchorage and can say that there are some companies you want to avoid in dealing with water damage/ mold remediation. It is a stressful time and some of these operators will use that to their advantage . We contacted several companies including Resto Clean , two where pushy and got your stress level up right away - first estimate was only verbal for $24,000, the next one said it could be up to $100,000 ! Jared from Resto Clean showed up and was polite, calm and reassuring. He was the only one that actually got out a tape measure and measure the areas, he gave us a bid later that same day that was less than both the other ones - but that wasn't the only reason we went with Jared. He was quick to respond to questions we had and happy to educate us on the process. The buildings were empty but one of his crew called the first day to let us know he was onsite and starting the process, they showed up everyday until the job was finished. As soon as the home inspector signed off on the remediation work we let Jared know and his crew showed back up that afternoon to reinsulate the crawlspaces for us also at a reasonable price. When something this stressful happens to a home owner when you hear the word MOLD ! you want to be dealing with someone who is knowledgable , shows up , has good communication and for us - kind and patient. APPARENTLY padding and inflating an estimate and not communicating with the examiner or myself to resolve the estimate disagreements, before anything is done, tells me if you do not want the estimate, bombard it with as much ridiculous billings so as to sabotage the estimate with the insurance company and then blame the insurance company for the failure to agree and get out of the job without looking bad or get bad reviews. I have verified noncommunicative with all and that is a big red flag. Contractors in Alaska can be flaky, lack intergrity, just not worth having any communication. VERIFIED!
