Pausa is a super cute little hole in the wall, stacked with ABC employees and UTS students keen to get their sleep deprived paws on some delicious Toby's Estate coffee. The baristas are a crack team - one visit they were even sporting Mario Bros costumes (?!) - and they'll work the machines with dazzling precision before calling your name out with a triumphant smile. Meanwhile a clutch of other busy bees are up the back assembling the freshest and most diving looking array of sandwiches. I really need to stop in at lunch time. Oh but I can definitely vouch for their bacon and egg rolls. Those little guys were an absolute lifesaver after a big night out!

Pausa does a roaring trade for UTS students and staff, and anyone else leaving Central and walking down Harris Street - ABC staff, TAFE peeps, etc. They have a small range of food (good veggie wraps!), and they're very efficient. They use Toby's Estate coffee, and their baristas are hit and miss (sometimes excellent, sometimes making a rather bitter brew). Pausa is not a cafe you'd want to spend much time in, owing to its location, but it buzzes as a takeaway joint. The folks working there are very friendly, and they know everyone's name.

Overall it's a tiny place but there are plenty of spots outside to sit and enjoy your food and coffee. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant and a latte. The croissant was delicious, a perfect breakfast. The coffee was hot and perfect on a chilly morning and had just the right amount of milk. It was so good I ordered one to go, with an almond croissant. It was the best decision made on this trip. The almond croissant was out of this world, maybe it was the powdered sugar, or maybe it was the fact it's rum dipped. Either way it was amazing and will be my new breakfast go-to. Don't miss out!

This would be a solid 4 stars if it wasn't for the terrible waitress we had, because the food is…read morereally good. Three Queens On King is a new cafe by the people running St. Jude in Redfern. It's a pretty clean fit out here, and while you can get some standard brunch food here there are different specials everyday that do things with a twist. Don't expect them to reinvent the wheel here, but you can expect good, hearty food or tasty healthy food depending on your mood. They opened pretty recently and we came on a Sunday around noon. The wait wasn't too bad, as we were seated within 5 minutes. The Queens running the show are friendly and know their stuff, it's just too bad the waitress we had was pretty horrid. I think she assumed we were foreign exchange students that can't speak English or something because when she asked for our order and we gave it, she gave a condescending "Did you want to order food?" Umm..were you not listening to the food we just ordered? Then I asked for a side of streaky bacon, and she said "Did you mean crispy bacon?" Uh, no I meant streaky bacon...and I pointed it out to her where it said "Streaky Bacon" on their menu. Why are you trying to correct me when you don't even know your own menu? I probably speak and write English way better than you. To top it off we ordered a coffee and a tea, and she completely forgot to bring the tea, it was sitting there for 10 minutes and one of the purveyors brought it over after we flagged her down. Our food was brought out by someone else (probably because our waitress forgot altogether) I ordered the Soft Shell Crab Salad and my partner ordered the cured salmon w' baby beets salad. She loved hers. I really enjoyed mine. Mine wasn't so much a salad but more so a soft shell crab burger with buns on the side. The spicy tomato mayo & cucumber & spanish onion salsa worked great with the crab. I just wish the crab portion was a little larger, but nonetheless it was very tasty. The bacon wasn't exactly the kind of streaky bacon I was expecting, but it was tasty nonetheless. Definitely willing to come back if the service improves.

I don't often recommend a place who doesn't understand duck fat is at the heart of cuisine, even society, even our humanity ... When it was taken away I overheard the order go through incorrectly again as scrambled eggs, but luckily I mentioned it was the scrambled tofu dish again and finally it went through. Because of this though, it came out a fair bit after the first dish but oh well. In the end it was a great dish and had spinach and mushrooms as well. Flavouring was slightly sweet but not unpleasant in a savoury dish. I asked for no butter on the toast, but apparently it was really nice, almost as if it had cheese on it. Baked eggs with baked beans was delicious as well. And both at $15 and $15.50 - you'll notice the other dishes have attractive pricing also. Coffee was great! Strong and slightly bitter, so if that's up your alley you'll love this. They also now have matcha lattes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not overly sweet and comes in a huge mug. Personally I could have done with a stronger matcha taste, but that's just me and it is still really nice as it is.

I've been away for more than six months and this cafe's improvements have really elevated the Gordon St. John Ave precinct. We came here bright and early at 6am for breakfast. So bonus points for opening this early to cater to workers and people dealing with jet lag. We had muesli, French toast, big pan bf and warm flaky croissant. Every one was presented to us not only nicely but they also tasted great. Muesli was homemade, crunchy, well toasted with a good mix of nuts and dried fruit. The accompanying fresh fruit was of generous proportion too. French toast was made with their own baguette with sides of banana and syrup. Big bf was huge with eggs, 2 sausages, greens, mushrooms, bacon and a side of baguette. Croissant was fresh out of the oven and something to die for! We had 2 skim lattes which were average as it wasn't hot enough for our taste. I would return again and again but the breakfast did cost quite a bit so it will be for special weekends or a treat.

But today I was in a rush and was passing Boulangerie Patisserie, I saw sausage rolls and had an uncontrollable temptation (yes I was THAT hungry). I am relieved to say though that the sausage roll was really very good. It seemed to have been made with some sense of standards, it seemed to have actual discernable meat inside it was tasty and it didn't appear that it might have been sitting there a few days, but instead seemed fresh! It brought back the old sausage roll and tomato sauce memories from my childhood. I might go back for another.
