Think indulgent treats such as chocolate éclairs, strawberry tarts, croissants, and to my delighted surprise; macarons! They may not be good for your waistline but at $1.50 each, they are just too damn hard to resist. My favourite, the strawberry and cream, rivalled Adriano Zumbo's .Try this cookie and you will wonder what took you so long. Racks of the pastries were right behind the counter, including both sweet and savory options. The employee manning the front was so warm and seemed happy to help answer our questions about the day's offerings. She said the most popular item all year round is their almond croissant, filled with an almond frangipane, but her personal favorite at the time was the seasonal Hazelnut Praline Brioche. Given that this is something you don't see at any ordinary bakery, I couldn't resist and you could say she talked me into it! My second choice would have been their handheld apple pie with its perfect lattice and caramelized sugar on top. The HAZELNUT PRALINE BRIOCHE (A$12) was essentially a light airy donut filled with a smooth chocolate hazelnut cream that tasted like a Ferrero Rocher. The amount of filling was generous and oozed out with every bite... I could have eaten spoonfuls of the filling just by itself! A slightly crunchy praline crumb topping gave it a crisp cap. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of this brioche as it wasn't too rich nor too sweet. I also got a flat white coffee which was good, hot and paired nicely with my brioche. My mom got their seasonal lemon monkey bread which she said was just okay. It didn't have that cinnamon gooeyness that one would normally expect in this type of dessert. Similarly, they also offered a lemon vanilla custard tart which my sister enjoyed. Oddly, it was labeled only as a "vanilla tart" on the display, which is a little misleading, especially for anyone who's not a fan of citrus. This cafe has a nice open air seating area with ample space, a couple seats at the coffee counter and some seats outside. Most of the tables were already occupied by the time we arrived, so we sat outside. With the cafe being located in an alleyway, we were able to savor our pastries in the morning sun without any cars or traffic whizzing by. What a lovely way to begin our day in Manly!

I preferred the pistachio Kurtosh. The hazelnut one was like candy on top of the cone and very crunchy like candy. These are made to order so take around 10 or 15 minutes. Not really ideal for a grab and go but was worth the stop. They have a ton of other pastries as well that are pay by the pound. The kurtosh was really good, especially with coffee. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if nearby I would definitely go again.

They had exactly the types of pastries we wanted... red bean buns, char sui buns, and the like. Despite being open until 9:00P, they were running low on buns around 5:30P and didn't appear to be refilling their stock, which is understandable. They still had plenty of dim sum in the hot case along with cookies and cakes. We took a tray and piled on nine buns which cost A$40. The woman at the front originally just grabbed a bag to put them all in, but when we asked for a box, she gladly packed them up with care at no extra cost. I tried three different buns. The bread was nice and soft with a bit of a chew, although it was also thick and denser than expected. The filling of each one was just okay and I sadly wasn't wowed by any of them. + BBQ PORK BUN: This contained larger chunks of meat whereas I would have preferred more finely chopped pork. Luckily, it didn't have much fat, but the filling was more salty and savory as opposed to being sweet. + COCKTAIL BUN: This one was filled with a sweet coconut paste, which was somewhat gritty and had an underlying saltiness. After eating the first half, the saltiness became a bit much for me and I couldn't finish the last few bites. + RED BEAN BUN: Rather than a sweet red bean paste, the center had slightly mashed beans with some of them being close to whole. The flavor wasn't bad, just not the sweet red bean paste that we expected. Since there wasn't another bakery nearby with similar buns, we weren't able to compare. Maybe our expectations just differed from what the norm is here, but sadly, we were disappointed with our selection.
