Today was the first time I have ever been to Same Day Auto Service. My grandpa knew my car needed work and told me to go there since he's been going for awhile and trusted them. I called over the phone on Friday and told them the make and model of my car and what needed to be fixed. He gave me an estimate, and one part was cheaper than my usual mechanic's price and one was a bit more spendy, so I told him the cheaper quote and he matched the price right on the spot. No questions asked. I took it in and dropped off my keys in the early afternoon. He then called a few hours later and walked me through ALL the problems my car had. He said he wanted to be honest about what was going on with my car and wanted to talk me through it all before deciding what I needed to do and what I didn't need to do. The fact that my car is even still running is a miracle, so I knew he wasn't just trying to trick me or have work unnecessary work done. He worked with me and listened to what I was needing and what I was willing to spend. It was done the same day before closing without any problems. The price was right and the customer service was exceptional. Really above and beyond. Gerry or Jerry (excuse my spelling) was so kind and honest. I usually loathe going to the mechanics, hence why my car is a disaster, because I JUST HATE GOING...so I wouldn't. But now I will be going here from now on. He took the time to talk to me about what car purchase I was going to need next, and why I should choose a certain make over another. He was informative and just a good hearted person. I got ice cold water, an awesome tote and just such friendly service. There was hardly even a wait as well, he was just finishing up my paperwork as I walked in. Took my Honda CRV here for its 160K service and oil change. Can't say the prices are cheaper or more expensive than other auto services, but they were courteous, got me my car back when they said they would, and the car is still running... Took my 2007 Honda Accord in for a brake job all the way around they didn't give me a quote and I just assumed it would be no more than three hundred bucks when I went to go pick up my car they wanted $600 for a brake job I've always used this auto place and it seems like the more I used them customers service has gotten worse I don't care for Jason he has a I don't care attitude. it doesn't pay too give them high recommendation cause the service is not so good I have many regrets but the more you use that place the more they start gouging and ripping you off and I think Jason's or Worse counter person ever. After you take your car in they always asked for feedback well not this time cause they knew I wasn't happy. read more

A mechanic was a tad rude to me in the parking lot. I was a first time customer and didn't know where to park (they have a very small parking area). I didn't know where to park and not be in the way. My wife's Subaru had an AC issue that I was certain was the evaporator. I got a call within hours that the car was ready and way less money than I had expected. They couldn't find a problem or leak anywhere but did note that the system was out of refrigerant. They recharged the system and we haven't had a problem since. Everybody minus the initial mechanic was friendly and I feel like they are an honest reputable company. I'll be a return customer when I need work done and wouldn't hesitate to suggest them to my friends (along with a reminder to just park on the street). read more

These guys are wonderful. On an off day, I may have gotten a cranky mechanic who kept cutting me off when I asked about them beating prices on various repairs quoted me by someone else, but it was a one time thing. Any other day, you'll get someone helpful and pleasant who knows what they're talking about. You'll pay what they quote you, and they'll also be sure to explain any other repairs needed, or future servicing needs to keep in mind. One of the older reception gals there could be a bit nicer to clients, but they have refreshments/coffee while you're waiting, and they'll do the job correctly and carefully. I believe that we were charged very unfairly when we took two of our cars here in the same week. We have been coming here for auto repair for years. I posted a review about my experience here on Yelp as well as Google review. The owner called me right away. He met with me at my convenience and listen to my complaints and agreed that we had not been charged correctly. H e happily refunded me the portion that I felt was unfair. Great shop! These guys did a terrific job after my son had a broken timing belt on our Subaru. HE was towed to another shop who screwed around and lied to us about the status of their order of replacement cylinder heads. My son was stranded in Portland for 11 days, yes 11 days until we realized they were totally incompetent and could not be trusted on anything they said. We had the car removed and towed to Same Day who had the problem resolved and had him back on the road in 48 hours. All for $800 less than the other place had quoted!! Great service. read more

I called this shop a couple of mornings ago to get a quote on quick repair on my Huyndai. At first I was a little apprehensive of leaving my name and number for a call back as the guy (forgot his name but super cool) wanted to ask his techs. He did call back in about 15 minutes and suggested to get an alignment and have the techs tighten the bolts at that time so I was not paying extra. Although they did not offer alignments there he was very professional and kind in trying to make sure I was not paying more than I needed. read more

I tried to like these guys...they came so highly recommended. I dropped off my old Camry because it was overheating with the AC on. They are polite...I'll give them that. I was told I'd be charged a $90.00 diagnosis fee plus the rental car (theirs). That was OK...sounded fair. About an hour after I dropped the car off, I got another polite call; due to the cooler weather they could not replicate the problem, BUT suggested that replacing the radiator and thermostat might solve the problem (not cheap by any means), and that they were concerned about: 1. A noisy bearing. 2. Leaky valve covers. 3. Rear brakes at 10% As a consumer, what I heard was, "we can't diagnose the problem,but we'd like to make some money by fixing this other stuff, and justify the $90.00 diagnosis fee." I'm sure they were well meaning, but to me, it just sounded like the same dialog I get at Jiffy Lube; up sell, up sell, up sell! So, they wanted to charge me $90.00 to diagnose, but an inspection of the rest of the car is free, and the "free inspection" is where they found problems they can fix? How does that work? Maybe I should have taken it in for a free inspection instead and they would have found the problem for free. I've had the same mechanics for years; I tried these guys because they had rental cars, and I've heard such great things about them. Fortunately, they are only going to charge me for the rental car. So, I guess that's the price I pay to learn a lesson; stick with what and whom you know. read more

I took my SUV to a local dealership for a recall & 120,000 mile service which includes an oil change - I was charged $305 for that service. Due to the way I had been treated the last 2 times at the service department at this dealership I decided I wasn't going back - the dealership had recommended a serious repair be done to my SUV and it would cost $1600. The dealership also recommended $850 in other repairs because my SUV didn't pass inspection. I contacted Same Day Auto Repair in Clackamas because they have worked on my vehicles in the past, have always been fair, and I trust them. I spoke with Jason and Jason quoted me $1050 for the same repair. He did not know the dealership quoted me $1600. I dropped my SUV off and was provided a rental car while they worked on mine. That was a very nice gesture - excellent customer service. Jason called me and told me he had good news. He said the serious repair recommended by the dealership did not exist. He said my SUV was in good shape but it severely needed an OIL CHANGE. Which was included in that $305 service I paid the dealership for. Needless to say - armed with this information - I filed complaints and had words with the dealership and "they said" they are refunding my $305. If that is true then essentially, Same Day Auto in Clackamas saved me $1,355.00. Thank you!! Kudos to you Jason and the staff at Same Day Auto in Clackamas. You will always have my business and I will continue to refer family and friends when asked where to find a GOOD and TRUSTWORTHY mechanic. read more

Well, Awesome is all I can say. Read on to know why - Here's my back-story: I was traveling from Eugene to Seattle in my Honda Accord one morning last week to see my brother in hospice when my amber engine warning light came on and soon started flashing - a bad bad time for this to happen. I immediately pulled over, then went to the closest Honda dealership, only to be told they couldn't look at it until sometime that afternoon, and based on my mileage, it 'might' be that I need the scheduled valve adjustment and related work [think up-sell to the tune of circa $800] and did I want to schedule my car for that [remember - we don't even know if it's needed] and by the way, we'll need your car for a full day [tomorrow]. I politely withdrew from that conversation, and called another nearby Honda dealership, only to get almost the identical answer [and up-sell]. So, I jumped online and looked for a Honda-certified local shop with good reviews - thank you all you reviewers out there - to see if they had time to check my car right away. It was with great hope that I came across the name "Same Day Auto Service" - just what I needed! I called, explained my dilemma [and time/family need], and got the answer I hoped for - "bring it in and we'll get it done." Well, a $89 service charge and a $35 spark plug replacement solved the problem, my car runs fine, I got to travel and see my brother rather than spend two days at a repair shop - and they gave me the service bulletin that tells me about how and why Honda will repair or replace my engine FOR FREE due to [a class-action suit related to] the underlying problem I'm experiencing - something Honda never told me and my regular shop never knew or told me. Needless to say, their fast attention to my problem, their super-niceness, their uber-reasonable price, and their even-more-than-helpful investigation and reporting of the underlying/previously undiscovered problem - I could have kissed him on the lips [but I don't swing that way :-) ]. I am updating my review because of some very impressive actions that were taken by TJ, the owner of Same Day Auto, that really demonstrated that he does care about the service his business provides to the community. He contacted me via phone to apologize for the way that we were taken care of previously and stated that he was embarrassed because that was not the kind of business practice that was representative of him . He offered to replace the spark plug wires free of charge stating that initially they should have offered to replace them for the cost of the part without a labor charge. My husband took our car in and they replaced the wires free of charge and provided a free rental car during the repair as well. When my husband picked our car up, the $107 that had previously been charged for the diagnostic fee was also unexpectedly refunded. I am unemployed so I shopped around to find the right shop and Same Day was hundreds of dollars less than any of the shops around here and on top of that they honored competitors coupons taking a additional hundred off a already low estimate. I might add first time customers as receive a free oil change and loaner car. They used all manufactures OEM parts. They were very up front and honest. I was told during the service it was possible a part (Cam Shaft Seal) could be bad costing extra hundreds to replace. so of course I was ready to have to pay this cost. When I was told this was not needed that the oil was coming from a leaky valve cover gasket that was already being replaced. I knew I found my new shop. read more

Not what it used to be. I've been using this shop for 7 years but just switched to another shop. The customer service used to be a strength and now it is definitely a weakness that combined with them missing a major issue (dealership caught it when brought in for a recall and then confirmed by same day). Then Same Day was recommending an additional major repair. They weren't transparent about all that it entailed even though I pressed a little and all the sudden when we almost set an appointment recommended another $300 repair on top of the $1200. Lost it at that point and went with another shop. So glad I did. The other shop looked it over carefully and didn't think the expensive repair that Same Day was recommending was even necessary. There's no reason to trek out to Clackamas for bad service and technicians. Too bad. I used to really trust this place but now wonder who needs to support a boat payment there. read more

I have been using Same Day Auto Service for the past 14 years. I cannot say enough good words to express how pleased and impressed I am with every aspect of this auto repair shop. They have delivered perfect results every single time on three different vehicles through the years. Whether my need was an oil change, a tune up, a brake job or a mystery problem (like a renegade anti-theft device that would't let me start the car) they have resolved the problem and filled the need. The shop is clean and orderly. You get the sense that these people are going to do it right and that they care--and that has been my experience. Every staff member has been kind, professional, and efficient when I have been there. The waiting room is the most comfortable I've ever experienced in an auto repair business. They are serious about not wasting your time and they get your car in and out in a timely manner. They are honest and realistic. But, If they do need your car longer they have always helped find alternative transportation...(at one time they had rental cars for $15.00 a day) but lately I see that they have a transport vehicle to give you a lift)--the point is that I have never felt so considered and respected by an auto repair shop and I know my 2005 Toyota Corolla will make it into the 200 thousand mile club because they have taken good care to make sure it will.
