With a wide array of classes (Gentle, Beginner's, Moderate, Vigorous, Lunch Hour, and even Zumba) Samadhi Yoga Studio has a class for nearly everyone regardless of your level of practice. Although Samadhi's is some distance from the closest highway exit, it's easy to get to and is located in a spacious plaza with plenty of parking. Personally I prefer heated and very hot yoga. Though I find them fun and engaging, the only classes that provide that type of heat are the "vigorous" classes. All other classes are room temperature, so dress accordingly. Honestly, consider taking as many classes as you can. Find what challenges you. For first-timers and/or beginners, FRET not! There are a number of classes catered to your needs. Even though there are two separate bathrooms, there is no changing area for men or women. This can be annoying if you're coming straight from work. Also, there aren't any showers. So depending on how sweaty you get, keep that in mind if you are looking to attend their 545 or 6am classes before work. Otherwise, the staff and instructors are very pleasant and accommodating. Oh! I purchased a Groupon for a month of unlimited classes, but was only able to go a handful of times due to schedule conflicts. I have been practicing yoga for 7+ years, and found the classes well-taught, challenging, and enjoyable. I tried gentle, intermediate, and vigorous classes, which I felt all fit their descriptions perfectly. My main complaint is the timing of the classes. There are very few classes later in the evening. I was unable to make it in time for 6 PM classes due to my commute, and the only later classes were gentle/beginners. Similarly, many of the morning classes ended to late for me to make it to work in time. With the abundance of classes in the middle of the day, it seems like the schedule is made for stay at home moms and not those with full time work/school schedules. Overall, I'd definitely recommend if the classes fit your schedule! read more

There are a few other studios offering similar deals, but Samadhi is a well respected, professional studio where you can build a solid foundation in your practice. I recently took advantage of a free class offering for the month of November. I took the Power Yoga class. The studio is clean and the front desk staff was very nice and welcoming. The studio offers blankets, blocks and mats if you need them for the class you signed up for. The Power yoga is slightly heated but the moves in the class were very easy to follow. Jen, the instructor was explicit. She offered correction or alternate moves when needed. They offer multiple classes and levels throughout the week and weekend. Samadhi is so much more than just classes. Samadhi is a community with a heart. About 6-8 months in to my time of taking classes I had to have brain radiation and was not allowed to drive. I talked to Jude (one of my favorite teachers) and to Anne (owner) about my problem. Without any hesitation Jude and Ann were there to help. They helped me connect with another student who graciously drove me to and from home during my recovery. Every teacher I've had has been a gem. There is simply nothing I can say about this place that could possibly describe just how special it is. The students reflect the energy created by the teachers. Friendly, welcoming, full of heart. I recently finished up my new student pass. I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years (with some hiatuses) and recently moved back to the area. I tried Samadhi first because of the number of classes they offer and its location - fairly close to where I live. The staff here are also very warm and welcoming. The beginner classes are very beginner. I started with one of these since I was coming off a 6 month hiatus and I like to get a baseline feeling for what a level 1 class at a studio involves. I quickly switched to signing up for all moderate level classes. I should note they do offer power yoga but these classes are heated. I don't do heated classes so I did not take any of these. The moderate classes I first took also seemed a bit easy but then I started finding the right teachers that fit with what I was looking for. The classes taught by Jude, Mindy, and Melissa were more the speed I wanted and fit my schedule best. I'm much more used to flow style yoga classes and I think the first vinyasa I did in a class here wasn't until the 3rd or 4th class I took and it was one Mindy was teaching. Her class also left me a bit sore for a few days which was great. I've also tried a class taught by Sushma. Her's was the most similar to the flow classes I'm used to but her pacing didn't click for me and I found some of her explanations confusing. I would try her class again though. Most teachers here open class with some warm up exercises which I really appreciate. I have tight shoulders and going into a downward dog cold isn't the most comfortable for me. One thing that did surprise is that there isn't consistency across teachers asking students if they 1) have any injuries they should be aware of and 2) don't want to be touched. I'm generally okay with having my form modified or being touched but there are days when I don't want that. My old studio was very consistent about this and I always appreciated that. All in all, I will go back and use this as my primary studio. However I do plan to try out a few other studios to see if any offer more flow style classes. read more

EDIT: I had originally given this studio five stars because I love going there, but my review was filtered out so I'm editing it. I can't speak for anybody else and I have friends who are very happy at other yoga studios in the area, some of which I can even vouch for, but I personally have had an excellent, five-star-worthy experience at Samadhi. I agree that it isn't snobby at all; in my experience, nobody really cares about what anybody else is doing because everyone is sweating and trying to breathe like you're supposed to in the practice. I've been doing yoga there for a while now so I'm (slowly) venturing into their power-level classes but even when I was just starting out I was always comfortable because the atmosphere is so laidback and all but one of the teachers I've experienced, in my opinion, are so informative and relaxing and fun in their own ways. Even though they're pretty much all guaranteed to teach an excellent class (and they really are all very different), I like Jude's style the best - Rebecca has been my other favorite but unfortunately I think she's leaving. My big complaint is that the Zumba schedule isn't conducive to someone who works a 40-hour week and I can only take the classes when I'm off from work. The class is SO much fun and a nice change of pace from the yoga, but Anne only teaches it during the day now. Please, please teach at least one Zumba class at 5:45 or later during the week! The current schedule is very disappointing. :( Overall I give an enthusiastic thumbs-up to Samadhi, even moreso if a Zumba class were available at 5:45 or 6:00. read more

Would give this studio 10 stars if i could! Just as it says on the front door of the studio "you have arrived, relax, be calm and breathe" thats how I feel as soon as I step in the door. Its like a weight is being lifted off my shoulders. I started attending yoga classes here in January and it was my first yoga studio that I had been to. Everyone there is so nice and welcoming. The teachers are always helping to modify positions to make them easier on your body or more vigorous for those of us that want a workout. They provide you with chilled water and delicious tea in the lounge area. I have even decided to do their 200 hour yoga teacher training course this fall. This is truly an amazing studio and yoga is great for your body, mind and soul. Everyone should try it! read more

I found the instructors very warm and welcoming, and took the time to explain what was going on in the class. The instructors in the beginners yoga class make it easy to follow and understand the different postures and philosophies. Love this studio!!! The teachers are great, I've taken classes from various instructors - they're all different in their classes, some are more challenging, some less, but you get a good mix. Get there early! People tend to get there about 10 - 15 minutes ahead of class to get a spot, some classes fill up more than others - they start on time - so you can't wander in at class time. The prices are comparable to the other studios in the area - I did the $40 introductory month and then purchased the unlimited year pass when they had a sale at the beginning of the year - that's a deal. They also have class cards if you don't want to commit to that - they're a good deal too and they have sales on them occasionally too. So, i recommend this yoga studio!! read more

I have been doing yoga for about 10 years, but have never experienced a studio like Samadhi. As other Yelpers have noticed, Samadhi has a vibrant community atmosphere that is truly genuine. They've got a great array of classes for beginners through yoga vets and also host a variety of different workshops to enhance your practice. They've got a larger studio and a small one, along with 2 changing rooms and a nice lounge space, which I appreciate when I arrive early when the rush hour traffic in Hartford isn't as bad as I expected. Mindy is a great instructor whose classes combine a good flow with opportunities to try new things and elevate your practice. All around, a wonderful and positive place to practice. read more

If I'm going to stick with a paid workout of some kind, I need 3 things: convenience, good instructors, and a variety of times/classes to choose from. Samadhi offers it all, and I've been showing up as a walk in recently. They offer monthly packages, class cards, and walk ins. It's very close to where I live and offers both early morning and later evening classes that work for me. Each instructor is different but I like them all so far! Samadhi offers great yoga classes taught by experienced and engaging teachers. On top of that, the studio has a community that is open, friendly, and welcoming. I went through their yoga teacher training 8 years ago and cannot recommend it highly enough. I didn't do it to become a yoga teacher, I was just in a place where things felt kind of stuck and I liked the idea of learning something new and challenging myself. It was one of the best decisions I've made. The person who said they are snobby ... I don't get that. I've never done yoga before in my life and just went there 3 weeks ago after purchasing a Groupon for myself and daughter. I have not found them to be snobby at all! I've done 2 beginner classes and a few All-Levels with about 4 or 5 different teachers and all have been wonderful. They always offer suggestions to beginners in the all-levels classes, and are very happy to speak to me and to see my daughter there, too. The only thing I will give them a ding for is the price. It is very expensive. After the groupon expires, I can't possibly afford Samadhi and my gym membership. Other studios are less expensive but, honestly, Samadhi is the only one that offers classes 7 days a week at times that most working folks can attend. read more

Visited here with a few Yelp buddies for an elite event which was my first time even hearing of Samadhi. I was pleasantly surprised at the experience. It's always nice to catchup with fellow Yelpers and meet some for the first time, so that was cool from the beginning. I drive past the place all the time and never realized it was there. I'm not the most active in the yoga community but I practice from time to time; maybe 15-20 times a year. To me one of the hardest challenges is finding a practice that it's both challenging, but not too challenging. Fun, but serious. My experience at Samadhi was the goldilocks of yoga practice. The one-hour moderate course we had with Anne was perfection. I broke a sweat, I pushed myself, I was pushed to my limits, I relaxed, I learned, I enjoyed. It was everything I ever want from a yoga class. After the class we were all treated to some nice chocolates and great hot tea in the back lounge. The vibe here just makes you want to hang out even when the class is over. The other great thing was the class schedule. This place has several classes of all difficulties throughout the day, seven days a week. You can't beat that. I definitely plan on taking advantage of the new member offer of only $40 for the first month with unlimited classes. Samadhi deserves all the stars. I will be back.....and soon! read more

I've lived in Manchester for years and have had a regular yoga practice on my own since college. I wanted to experience a studio setting, not a gym for my classes so I found this studio. I was enthusiastically welcomed by the desk staff and have taken classes with a variety of wonderful teachers over the past several months. They offer a range of styles and levels of intensity. Their hot yoga is quite challenging but that is not their only focus. its a lovely studio with experienced teachers, great place to practice!! read more
