We called to get an estimate for a sewer line repair. We called a few vendors for comparison off work, labor, etc. He came out late and gave us a higher price than anyone else. He then proceeded to ask for 150.00 for the estimate. None of the other contractors charged us for coming out and estimating the work. After arguing with my husband he said he would take half. My husband paid him and filed a complaint about his company. We definitely would NOT recommend him!! read more

We paid Sam Wexler Plumbing to clear our drain to the street. The man was rude and blamed me for not being able to tell him where the line went from the basement to the street. He snaked it through the French drain, and we paid. He recommended having it done again in 2-3 years. The very next load of laundry flooded the basement. Wexler now says no warranty and won't come back until we pay for a new drain cleaning. read more

Making an appointment here was easy, but on the day of the scheduled appointment, no one showed or called. The following day, I received a call from the company asking to reschedule. Turns out, there was a communication mix-up - no big deal, it happens. We rescheduled - two more times to be exact. The rescheduling part was not a huge deal, but if our problem had been major, it definitely would have been an issue. That aside, when the plumbers finally showed up, they were thorough and personable. This had not been our first estimate and the guys said pretty much the same thing the other companies did (the water in our basement was probably coming from our neighbors - turns out, it was). The problem with Sam Wexler was after the plumbers left - one of them came back to collect the $150.00 fee. This was the first time I had heard about this fee, despite all of my phone conversations with the receptionist. The plumber was extremely nice about this and waited as I phoned the company to inquire about the fee. I asked the receptionist if there was a fee (yes) and said this was never mentioned to me when I set up the appointment. Even if she forgot to mention it initially, we spoke on the phone several times due to the rescheduling. I didn't end up paying the absurd fee, but I feel as if this sort of information should be disclosed in the initial contact or on their website. Had it been, I would not have chosen this company. I learned my lesson - inquire about fees. Unfortunately, some companies are not up-front about it (but there are many who are and who do not charge just to tell you what they think the problem is!) read more

I had called Sam Wexler Plumbing almost a month ago to get an estimate on a toilet replacement. The tech came out, inspected the old toilet (and a few other concerns), then priced out a toilet and told me it would arrive within a few days. I also had to put down a deposit on this toilet at the time of ordering. For 3 weeks, nothing. I must have called almost a dozen times over that time period, and was told that they didn't know where the toilet was, or that the supply house was back ordered, I was even hung up on and didn't receive calls back that I was promised. I finally got in touch with the office last week, when they confirmed that the toilet had arrived, and the replacement was scheduled for today. The tech that arrived to do the work was personable and polite....but after installing the new toilet, it was discovered to have been the wrong one. The tech apologized, and went to swap the incorrect toilet at the supply house...which left me toilet-less for almost two hours. He had also taken the keys to my building's service lift, which the front desk called me about maybe ten minutes after he left. Overall, a poor experience that I wouldn't repeat if I had to. What should have been an easy toilet swap turned into a month long ordeal that has been a very expensive lesson. It wasn't the tech's fault, rather a communication breakdown that lost them future business. read more

The two men who came to assess the situation were very professional. The problem was the initial communication with the dispatcher. We told her it was a clog because that's what our in-building service person suggested it was. Not being plumbers, we didn't know what to add to that information. We had no water coming out of the faucet. I understand now that she thought we had a clogged drain. But I think we assumed that plumbers come equipped to deal with any plumbing situation. In the end, we paid $125 for the service call though nothing was done. read more

Good solid work for a reasonable price. Not your cheapest neighborhood guy, but still less than you'd expect, and very professional.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. The plumber was incredibly rude, aggressive, combative, and incredibly disrespectful. I called about a jammed Garbage Disposer. Plumber arrived within 15 minutes and problem was solved quickly. Great service! Highly recommend.

This was a joke. I called to get an estimate on plumbing services and explained to the lady who answered the phone everything that needed to be done. The guy came out pretty much laughed in my face and said they don't do some of the basic plumbing needs I needed completed. I had to take off of work for a guy who was late and decided to laugh in my face. Then he said he would write up an estimate for the things he could do. I had to call three days later to the rude receptionist telling me they are not bidding my job. Terrible customer service would never recommend this company. read more

This was incredible disappointing. The plumber who came out to offer the estimate was professional and courteous. I cannot say the same for the person they sent to do the work. The plumber was rude, looked dissolved, and exhausted. The finished product was sloppy and required us to contact another plumber for repairs. Poor customer service. read more

Longtime client here. They actually show up when they are supposed to, and do the job as I expected. They guarantee their work, but luckily I've never needed to use their guarantee as the job is done right the first time. Four stars instead of five because they are on the pricey side, but ... hey, you get what you pay for. read more

We had a serious issue with our drain at home use three different companies and they was unable to clear the drain we called and made an appointment and they was out the next day. The plumber knocked on the door and introduce him self as JM told him about the situation about the other three companies not being able to clear the drain He recommended a machine he carries in his truck and after being on site for just 20 minutes he cleared the drain and end up saving me $10,000 on digging up the line. read more

We have had extensive work done on a variety of plumbing projects and Sam Wexler Plumbing did each one superbly and at an exceedingly reasonable price! I cannot stress the singular professionalism of each and every person who has come to our home from Sam Wexler Plumbing. Of particular note is Sam Wexler's estimator who demonstrated a very thorough knowledge of plumbing such that we were presented with all options when it came to replacing over a hundred feet of pipe in our basement. This was especially significant because we have an older home whose plumbing intricacies are not something other plumbers seem to consider (or know about). The courteousness and consideration of Sam Wexler plumbers is second-to-none. I can easily say that they are not only great professionals but really nice people as well. When you call Sam Wexler, you will be speaking with personnel that really care about their customers and who always have time to listen. The office staff is gracious and very considerate! Had them out to replace a union on a pipe,......simple job, eh? - Didn't do the job and then went into a litany of other stuff that needed to be done ("code" work, valves, etc) and gave me an estimate for over $1k! Yipes,.....also did not advertise that the visit was $100+ - gave the check and just cancelled them from my memory,........oh, and stupid me, didn't check BBB first or I wolud have seen the great "D" rating. Totally unprofessional. They tried to tell me that the connection for my dishwasher was not correct (which is not even why I called them out) while telling me they could not unclog my kitchen drain and offered to re-do my connection. I took estimates on the drain issue from 3 other plumbers and all of them said my dishwasher connection was perfect. Trying to take advantage and make a quick buck. read more

Showed up, on time and ready to go at 9:00 am Saturday. Darwin introduced himself , I walked him through the issue ( a problem drain that keeps backing up ) and he got to work. 15 minutes later he was done showed me the problem , a mess of steel wool and assorted gunk, and asked me to test it while he completed the paperwork. I have had this drain cleaned at least every 18-24 months in last 6 years that I have owned the house but never as thoroughly as what Darwin did. ( he went 45 feet to find the root cause not the 20-25 feet the prior plumbers went) The drain always back flowed into the laundry room sink but this time the sink is dry ! Darwin was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend Sam Wexler Plumbing. read more

Very poor customer service. We called at 9:30 AM to have our sewer line snaked out. The lady said someone would be here between 11:00 Am - 3:00 PM. No one showed up by 3 PM. We call them. The lady said the plumber got tied up at another job and would be here by 5:00 PM. She calls back at 4:00 PM to tell us they won't be coming out until the following morning. They were going to charge us around $180 for the work. We called Horizon, they were out in three hours and only charged us $99. I will never call Sam Wexler Plumbing again. read more

Had major sewer pipe problem. Wexler took $95 deposit towards snaking; Took $250 for camera work, etc. That was over 2 weeks ago!! Never heard another word back about an estimate or a schedule or anything!! Lousy business ethicS. This is totally honest review. DO NOT USE SAM WEXLER PLUMBING! They will try and rip you off and their service time is horrendous. The pilot light on my 8 year old Whirlpool water heater went out on Monday night. I couldn't get it re-lit. Called Sam Wexler on Tuesday morning and they gave me an appointment for Wednesday...great! That was about all they did well. Wednesday morning they called me and cancelled appointment and said they would come Thursday. Thursday they came...told me the thermocouple needed to be replaced on the water heater, but my water heater won't accept "universal parts" so they would need to order a new one direct from the manufacturer. IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK TO COME IN. My family (including 2 young kids) suffered through a week of cold showers and baths. On the day they were to come out with the new part I received a phone call from Sam Wexler's dispatch office telling me that the part had not yet come in and it would be ANOTHER WEEK!!! At this point, my frustration boiling, I called another plumber. He came out that day. After tinkering with the water heater for 5 MINUTES he got the pilot restarted!!! NO REPAIR WAS NEEDED AT ALL. Additionally, he told me that the water heater would have accepted a universal thermocouple because the one currently in it was a universal part!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL AND AGAIN, THEY WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF. read more

While I'd had very good experiences with this plumber before, my last one was not very good at all. Someone from Wexler had come out to clear my outside drain who clearly didn't know what he was doing. He failed to clear the drain and as a result his supervisor suggested someone coming out with their jet cleaner. I suggested that someone else come out and try again. They sent another plumber and this one did the job, explaining to me that the drain has a particular type of trap not usually seen and the plumber who'd come out before him probably wasn't familiar with it. Since I'd paid $185 to the first plumber who failed to do the job I asked for a reduced rate for the second one. They suggested $150 which I agreed to given that the job was urgent since I was not able to use either toilet in my home. After the work was completed I spoke to someone in the office a number of times and pointed out that I'd paid twice for the same work and that the successful job came with a 30 day guarantee. I asked that they waive the second fee. The woman in the office was very nice and assured me that she would speak to her boss about it. Well just now I discovered that they deposited the $150 check that I'd written without telling me of their decision. Since this drain is an ongoing annual problem for me I had thought I'd be relying on them to do the job, but given what they've just done I will definitely find another plumber. read more

I would advise people not to use Sam Wexler Plumbing for anything. From the first phone call I made I should have sought another plumber. We had an entire bathroom re-done and it was an absolute fiasco. At one point there were 4 men in the bathroom and they had the hot water running in the toilet upstairs and there was no hot water anywhere else. The week long project turned into a 6 week project. They damaged the new tub and so the tile had to be ripped out of the shower area so a new tub could be reinstalled. Years later, the electric they had put in the bathroom, I had to pay almost $300 to have a licensed electrician to repair their poor workmanship which could have burned down my house. I called numerous times, but the management cares nothing about the quality of their work- they got their money and too bad for me that the installation was terrible. You would be better to run a garden hose outside for your plumbing needs than to use their company. Michael W. read more
