Definitely the best sushi I've had here in Paris. Stumbled across this restaurant totally by chance…read moreand decided to give it a try. Upon entering Okuda, it was explained that there are 2 separate sections, so it was a choice between a 10 course traditional degustation or a simpler sushi selection. My mom and I opted for the latter as it seemed less overwhelming and a more reasonable price. The restaurant had 2 dinner servings 6:00pm and 8:30pm, and we had arrived just in time for the first seating. There are only 7 seats in the place which makes for a very intimate setting. Just a simple row of chairs facing the chef. Being the first to arrive, my mom and I had the place to ourselves and enjoyed watching the chef prepare our dishes and explain his methods and ingredients. Chef Tomo was very cheerful and easygoing, glad to answer all the questions we peppered him with and inserting even more details about each dish that made it more special. The service was fantastic, with chef Tomo brandishing his knife made by a Japanese company that forged samurai swords 300 years ago. The staff always made sure our tea was warm and changed teacups with a different type of design each time. We started off with an amuse-bouche of vegetables in a jelly wrapper with a corn based sauce topped with a flake of gold leaf, followed by a marinated steamed beef dish then grilled sea bass with zucchini sprinkled with Yuzu and bonito flakes. The pièce de résistance was the assortment of sushi! Flounder; Sea bass + Yuzu garnish; Red Snapper; Bouget + Yuzu pepper; 16-day aged tuna + Onion; Toro (Fatty Tuna); lobster; Unagi (Wild French eel); Beef wagyu. Polishing off with a Tuna/Toro Temaki with Shiso leaf, ginger & specially made miso paste -- my favorite. The miso soup with mushrooms was very light and savory. The dessert was coconut sorbet with mixed fruits in white wine. A lovely meal all in all. Everything was a wonderful surprise and did not disappoint. ^_^

Three adults, and 2 teenagers all agreed that this place is a delicious and special dinner. The Sushi Chef spoke great English and was very personable throughout the entire meal.

We booked the 130 euro Omakase reasoning that a great Omakase would be even better in Paris. We…read moreshowed up 10 mins early for our res, and were surprised to see a metal gate where the restaurant door was supposed to be. Thinking that the place had closed down, we called, but no answer. Fortunately, at 7 p.m. on the dot, the gate lifted, and we entered the small but well appointed reception area. We ventured upstairs, and were promptly seated at the sushi bar. We were given our choice of confirming our order for Sushi Omakase, or switching to the Kaiseki menu. There is also a vegetarian option, but that must be ordered several days in advance. We stuck with the Omakase; OMG are we glad we did. The chefs worked in front of us, with elegant economy of motion. The fish was as fresh as could be, and the variety was phenomenal. We were first presented with an amuse bouche of tempura white asparagus. It was phenomenal. Then a green pea soup with tofu. Then a plate of mixed sashimi. Then a plate of cooked food and special nigiri served wrapped in a banana leaf. Then ten courses of glorious sushi, each better than the last. My faves were the unagi, the salmon tataki and the o-toro. Her's was the the salmon (raw and tataki) and the o-toro. We finished with an o-toro hand roll, miso soup, and a perfectly ripe strawberry wrapped in mochi, along with some matcha pudding. All of this to say that we'd fly back to Paris in a second to have the meal again. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation ASAP!

Highly recommended. One of my favorite restaurants in Paris…read more 120Euro set menu - includes appetizers, soup, sashimi, choice of 10piece nigiri or kaiseki and dessert Ambience: ambience is good. Besides the omakase and the room, the rest of table setting doesn't seem as much diner friendly. When you enter, there's only bathroom downstairs and makes you think someone is to greet you. You are supposed to go upstairs to the restaurant and I think generally a sign would be helpful. Good: every single dish was so delicious. You would not expect one of your best Japanese dining experiences to be in Paris and I need to say this place is definitely up there. For me, this place is definitely above North American omakase average. All the food and in between courses were so thoughtfully planned and well themed according to season for both the plating and choice of fish / food. Try to get a seat at the sushi bar if you can for the omakase experience. Although we sat inside, we did not think the quality of experience was diminished as a result. Expect a relatively long service 2+ hours.
