Sushi B ranks as the worst value meal I've ever had in my life. Note, I didn't write "worst meal." The quality of the nigiri was actually good (though still in the bottom third of other omakase meals we have had). The quality of the non-nigiri items was below average at best and poor at worst--you know omakase is not going well when the feeling that you would never in a million years want to eat the course again keeps repeating itself. What made the meal the lowest value was the overall below average quality combined with an exorbitant price tag (320 EUROS pp) better reserved for the Alineas and Joel Robuchons of the world. The experience at Sushi B was not remotely worth the price (unlike those two restaurants).
Unfortunately, from a pure quality perspective, Sushi B does not deserve the one Michelin star it has. I've had plenty of non Michelin-starred omakase places that are better. From the amuse-bouche (which did nothing to please the palate) to several of the opening courses, I kept wondering whether the Michelin star was a mistake. And then I wondered whether the chef was just off his game that day. And then when I got the bill, I thought they mistakenly quadrupled the price.
Hard no from me. Save your money. Omakase is a much higher quality and less egregiously expensive experience elsewhere. read more
