The store was not crowded , the layout is easy to find what you want . Andrea was so helpful that I I purchased an additional item . I picked this store partly because it was close to my job and I am happy with the value added as the customer service was excellent. This particular location has been an iconic inclusion of New York since the 1940's, first as Tom Austin Shoes and then in 2012, they became an Allen Edmonds retail location. Tom Austin Shoes was a retailer of Allen Edmonds, in fact, they were the largest wholesale account for Allen Edmonds in New York prior to becoming an Allen Edmonds retail outlet. I am a big fan of Allen Edmonds and will miss this location in New York City, but I guess the world is changing as are the public's tastes. I bid farewell to this location. Another place that now shall exist only in my memories.

They only give store credit, so do not buy unless you definitely 100% are going to keep the item(s). Really crazy policy that they don't tell you about except for some fine print signs in places you wouldn't actually look or see. I think this brand is dying and this awful return policy is the early indicator. Beware.

Simple, beautiful, understated basics. I first discovered him when I bought one of his t-shirts on sale at the Barney's Warhouse Sale. I've been hooked ever since. The only thing I don't like about James Perse is that he seems to be of the (very California) school of designers who think it's OK to wear sweatpants everywhere. It's really not. Even if they are the most comfy things ever and they cost $75, you cannot wear them with flip-flops to a nice restaurant, or really any restaurant in my opinion. It was too late for me to order online and have it shipped, but luckily, there are at least 4 stores in NYC (where my trip was) that had the shoes I wanted to try in stock!! The staff was knowledgeable here, and I tried on exactly what I wanted, and they helped me bring out everything I wanted to try. They were very patient with me too. I got exactly what I wanted, very quickly. I was in/out in probably 20-30 mins! So amazing. I guess it helped that they were about to close, and I was the only customer left haha. But they had great customer servie here! In general, the store is quite nice too. It's spacious, and I feel like they have all the shoes from their website to try on, compared to the store I go to in San Francisco, which is tiny and they have almost nothing from their website.
