I purchased a preowned vehicle that "apparently" had a new/refurbished hybrid battery installed the month before showing the date along with paperwork from the seller. In less than three months, the battery became faulty with multiple codes from my own mechanic showing that the battery was the wrong battery and no good and needs to be replaced. Sam and his team have not been responding to my calls or inquiries or texts and clearly me and the seller of the vehicle have both been scammed. Do not trust these guys. If they were ethical and had any accountability, they would respond to my text and calls and offered to work something out, but that is not the case. How shameful read more

I brought my 2010 Prius to Sam Auto Hybrid in Costa Mesa because the engine was shaking badly. Angel diagnosed a blown head gasket with coolant leaking into the cylinder and even sent me pictures of the damage. He also found a bent piston rod and gave me clear repair options with fair pricing. I went physically went there after to confirm the findings and discuss my options. I decided to buy a low-mileage used Japanese engine (from LA-JDM Long Beach), and Angel and the team supported my choice 100%. Mind that they also have fully rebuilt Prius engines but they carry themselves like true professionals that they did not push hard to sell those. No pressure. They installed the used Japanese engine quickly--within a day--and now my Prius drives like new with better MPG! The shop manager Kourosh and his wife were incredibly kind and hospitable, offering drinks, snacks, and even some delicious bread to go. Angel and Kourosh also provided a free loaner Prius with unlimited mileage while mine was being worked on, which was a huge help. I went there for a check hybrid system error which was cause by the fan malfunction temporarily and the guy angle keeps on insisting on changing the whole battery and wouldn't answer my question when I asked him if the battery was bad they just wanna sell you stuff for no reason to make money off of you and I solved the problem by just unplugging the fuses and repluging them and everything now works perfectly and haven't given me any issues say no to scamming idk how they got all them good reviews it's unbelievable read more

I have taken my Prius to Same Auto Hybrid a few times now and found that there is something else that goes wrong with my car after a few days. I am beginning to think that they are messing with the car. Example. right after I took my card, the display screen stopped working. I mean the day I got the car back. It was working when I dropped it off. Second time, there was a small cut in one of the radiator hose. It wasn't a tear but seemed like someone had deliberately cut it with a blade. Radiator water started to leak and had to take it back. I know this can be coincidence but I it has happened a few times and unfortunately I cannot trust the mechanics there anymore. Would not recommend and please be aware! If you think it could be a coincidence every time, please think twice! read more

I was going to another nearby hybrid specialist close to Sam Auto Hybrid. (I won't mention name). But I give the edge to Sam Auto because they seem to be better organized in my opinion. The last time I had my car serviced for half a day (ABS) they offer me a loaner car. Their waiting room is comfortable and has guest wifi too (so I can use my laptop to work). Out of nowhere, I had severe engine malfunction in My Hyundai Kona (cylinders were misfiring, burnt spark plugs and ignition coils, other error messages etc.). Either needed a new engine or my current one rebuilt. After calling around and speaking to a few shops, I decided to go with Sam's Auto. I spoke to Angel, who said he could do either but wanted to examine the engine to confirm which one would be better. He ended up rebuilding my engine. He was honest and transparent throughout the whole process (would send me text updates and photos) and was truly a pleasure to work with. Sam's Auto was very fair with their pricing and offered a great warranty. Just brought it in for a check-up a few hundred miles after the rebuild. My car has been running like new! My daughter is at UCI and was hearing a rattle when she started the car. This became more pronounced on a Friday evening (of course) and I told her to take it to O'Reilly to check the codes. On Sunday morning she took the car to O'Reily where she found there were misfires on 3 of 4 cylinders. We found Sam Auto through Yelp. Sam's looked at my car, saw the problem, realized the car could still be under warranty, and walked me through the process of how to request the warranty coverage. I had a used brake actuator replaced therein my 2005 Prius. The cost was $1500 for a used one with labor that included a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty. After a few days of having it replaced, I took it back, as it still wasn't working properly and the code for the ABS came on. They fixed it, but it didn't even last three months. I took it back several times, as the brakes grab really quickly when stepping on the brake pedal and sometimes when I go to stop, it skips and doesn't stop at all. There are no codes, but I have talked to several other hybrid techs who have said sometimes they go bad without giving a code and that what is happening with my car defnintely sounds like a bad actuator. Every time I take it back, they say it's just me (as in just my imigination). I guess when the car fails to stop, it's just me and not actually the mechaincs of the braking system. Basically, they refused to honor the warranty they promised and now I have to have someone else replace it and I am out the $1500 I spent. I have had them do other work on my car, but they have lost my business forever. Buyer beware!!! read more

Angel from Sam's Auto Hybrid got my Prius running again for a little over half of what my local shop was going to charge me. Long story short: my 2010 Prius's engine suddenly quit (the water pump had gone out so engine overheated). My local shop wanted to charge me $5K+ to rebuild the engine - which I believe was an honest price for this. But given the miles and wear the car isn't worth that, so I began to look elsewhere and found Sam's on Craigslist. Because Sam's specializes in hybrids they were able to swap out the engine with a WARRANTIED rebuilt engine for a fair price. I'm 2 weeks in so far and everything is running great. When I called Angel explained the different options, pro/con's of each. We settled on the rebuilt, warrantied option (even though it wasn't the cheapest option he gave). Once I took the car in Angel kept me updated on the process, even sending photos. If this engine runs for another couple years I'll be very happy. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE how fast and efficient the service was! Called for a quick oil change because we were in our way to Vegas and they were able to squeeze us in. With an estimated 30-45 mins for the oil change. They offer a waiting area with water, tea, and coffee. Our car is a 2019 Kia Optima btw! Also, the employees are all so inviting and nice. They strike up conversation and make you feel so comfortable. They ask questions to make sure they get your service right and again, everything went so smooth. Came in with my wife's 2012 Prius, which was overdue for its 100k service and had a laundry list of things it needed done/replaced- including work on the suspension, which had become sluggish over the last year. This place was recommended by a friend and I was skeptical at first. I have heard of hybrid batteries places that pop up and suddenly disappear. When I arrived it felt like I was at a car dealership. Everyrhing was super clean and they even offer coffee and snacks while you wait! I called before I arrived and spoke with Mostafa. Mostafa is amazing! He told me to come in at 8am and he was already waiting for me! I couldn't believe how diligent he was. Usually people make you wait but not Mostafa. He quickly walked me over to my car asked me what was going on. He brought over his computer and sat down with me and explained everything the computer showed. He did not rush me even though I had an exaggerated amount of questions. Not only did he spend all that explaining what he was going to do but he also told me that my car would be ready the same day. A short fee hours later I was already back with my Prius. He explained what I needed to do to get my battery to mate w my car and voila! My car is running like new!! Mostafa!! You are the best!
