Here are some bullet point reasons: - Chuck changed the percentage and added a fee (that ended up being for advertising )to the contract, upon signing, four days before the actual sale. By the way he typically includes advertising as part of the fee he requests. We were blindsided. He would have been turned away if it were solely up to me, but unfortunately, I had others involved in the decision to use him. - Rather than giving us a guideline for when things needed to be done, for example, signing a contract and time to set up advertising - He claimed it was not too late to get advertising in: Info for advertising in PennySaver should have been done the week before the sale so that the ad would run that weekend before. It was not done. He claimed he could get it in on Wed before the sale. This would have been too late as the sale would already be in full swing. The bottom line, he did not advertise with the money we agreed to give him (against our better judgment) in the two places critical for estate sales- PennySaver ( which would have been late for the sale anyway) and Estatesale.net. He did not purchase any advertising. He used a couple of social media posts and texted people he knew instead. He was poorly equipped- -not enough table ,and the ones he had were very dirty, -signage was simply white computer printer paper. -he did not put enough signs up around town. We actually gave him some materials that he did not use, so we put more signs up ourselves with this material and our own social media postings. While we are so grateful that in the absence of Chuck's lack of preparedness, professionalism, and business ethics, our sale was not a flop, the poor way in which things were run and the fact that he did not do as he agreed to is not something anyone wants to deal with. Lastly, before he agreed to the contract that he changed and we had to negotiate, he wanted to see what was put aside and would not be included in the sale. This is horribly poor taste. He is hired to do a job, and he sells what the client says is up for sale, not what isn't. This is wrong on so many levels but, in my opinion, is taking advantage of those grieving a loss and trying to work through a finality. Yuck! Please think twice before using him for your estate sale.

This store is located near downtown Albion, just across the street from the public library. It is in the same building as the laundromat, so can be easily overlooked--but don't overlook it, as there are some great deals here! We were so fortunate to on a whim stop by on their dollar clothes sale day. Every clothes item in the store was just a dollar each, WHOA! :-O It isn't a huge thrift store, but we still found some great finds! The clothes are organized very well by item type/size, making it easy to peruse everything in a reasonable time. In addition to apparel, there are all of the other typical thrift store sections, including accessories, shoes, books, housewares, toys, games, dishes, bedding/curtains, artwork, decor, etc., and some furniture. I was particularly impressed with the dishes and china area. If I had less self-constraint and more room, some lovely new-to-me-china pieces would have definitely come home with me, hahaha. Overall, the regular prices here are very reasonable. Of course if you hit it on a dollar-deal-day, that is a phenomenal steal. But clothes regular prices were about $2 - $4 or $5 a piece. We live in the Buffalo burbs, and the thrift stores I frequent closer to home have regular prices about double that these days. So when we are in town at our camp, or maybe even just for a country drive to Albion on the off season, Main Street Thrift Store is well worth the adventure. They have clothes for kids, teens, and adults -- some new, some consignment -- and the consignment pieces are so pristine you'd swear the previous owner bought them, lovingly removed the tags, whispered affirmations over them, and then never wore them once. And it doesn't stop at clothing. Oh no. There's furniture, small appliances, baby items, exercise gear, bedding, health and beauty goodies (from really good brands, too). You name it, they probably have it. And if they don't today... check back next week, because the inventory changes constantly. One of my favorite things is how active they are on Facebook -- posting new arrivals, sale alerts, and little contests so you can plan your visit like a highly strategic shopping mission. However, it's a shame that most of the shoes were for smaller women when I visited. Would definitely come back, it's a great find.
