Unarguably one of the worst dining experiences my husband and I have ever experienced, and we dine out frequently. The restaurant called us to confirm our reservation about 1.5 hours prior and warned us that they had a 10-minute grace period. When we arrived just after 6:00 PM, we were asked to wait while they got our table "ready". The restaurant was about 25% full for the entirety of our dining experience. To put it into perspective, there was an equal staff to guest ratio. There were no place settings on our table when we arrived so I'm not sure what exactly they were getting ready, as there were more than ample empty tables. We were seated at approximately 6:07 PM; however, our server did not greet us for 30+ minutes. We had to flag him over.
After we flagged him over, our server did not apologize for our wait. He merely said, "Are you ready to order?" After waiting 30 minutes, we were indeed more than ready. I ordered the "Mezcal Salvaje," listed #1 on the menu of their 4 signature drinks, and he informed me that they were out of one of the main ingredients so I told him I needed a moment to quickly review the menu. My husband ordered his drink and our food, and his drink was delivered to him relatively quickly. I had to flag the waiter down again to order my drink, and after ordering, it never came. After 15 minutes of waiting, I went up to the bar, where the bartender was drinking a beer, texting, and conversing with another server. I inquired about my beverage, and he looked confused. I told him what drink I had ordered and returned to our table. My drink was delivered about 5 minutes later. I had to physically get up from the table to ask for napkins since we had no place settings.
Our food was served to us at 7:14 PM by another server. We ordered Ceviche ($315/$17.89 USD), Elote a Las Brazas ($190/$10.79 USD), and Arroz con Mariscos ($340/$19.31 USD). The food was okay at best, but it definitely did not warrant the prices we paid. The corn was not ripe whatsoever, and it was despicable that a restaurant of such caliber would serve that to a guest. A chef should know better. Plus one ear of corn for $10+ is an absurd price for Mexico. My husband requested to have it removed from the check, which we've never done previously in our lives so that says a lot.
Other tables around us were also experiencing notably poor service. The table next to us requested their check 3 times. We repeatedly heard staff apologizing to other tables. The manager ended up coming over at the end of our meal, and my husband asked him for the check. He offered to give us a churro dessert for free, which was appreciated. No one once checked up on us nor asked if we'd like to order another beverage. This restaurant has a lot of work to do if it's going to make it. The service this evening was truly unacceptable. read more
