I highly recommend Salus Homecare. We started with them in 2020 when my dad's health took a turn for the worse. I was the live-in 24/7 caregiver for both my parents and I needed help. My family was first introduced to Salus Homecare. They were treating bed sores for my family member. When circumstances changed & my family member & hospice was recommended, I chose Salus Hospice for continuity of care. The care & compassion was 5 star all the way. The medical staff was always in contact with me with treatment updates. As my family member's health declined, Salus was available by phone for support. Sandy & Mary were absolute angels. And Sunday was there for us shortly after my family member passed. She facilitated the initial calls, so we didn't have the burden. I am writing this review to WARN anyone considering Salus Hospice for their loved ones: I would NOT TRUST THEM. My mother's final hours were filled with unnecessary suffering due to their gross negligence and incompetence. On November 26, 2024, my mother experienced severe respiratory distress. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite my urgent calls and detailed description of her critical condition (dangerously low oxygen levels, pinpoint pupils, and extreme distress), Salus Hospice dismissed my concerns.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They downplayed the severity of her situation, providing useless advice and delaying crucial care. For nearly three agonizing hours, my mother struggled to breathe while we waited for help that never came. The on-call nurse, when she finally arrived, was an LVN unqualified to perform necessary procedures like suctioning or bedside support, telling me this care was "out of scope" for her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She was also dismissive and unprofessional, criticizing me for taking action to try and save my mother.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were left abandoned and desperate. I was forced to call 911, and paramedics arrived to find my mother in a critical state. By the time she reached the ER, it was too late. Salus Hospice failed my mother miserably. They prolonged her suffering and added immense emotional pain to our family during her final moments. Their incompetence and lack of compassion are unforgivable. If you care about your loved ones, please seek hospice care elsewhere. In our experience, Salus Hospice is a dangerous and negligent organization and we believe they should not be trusted with end-of-life care. We have reported Salus Hospice to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) who is in the process of starting a formal investigation. Salas home care is very unreliable. They call Out constantly and give the excuse of "car trouble" or "can't find a babysitter". I would not rely on this company for home healthcare. Plus the people they provide we have not found to be very helpful or proactive with helping my FIL. Highly do not recommend you use this company. read more

Horrible! They did THREE intake visits (started over after each hospital visit), only to tell me I did not qualify for services, including palliative. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked what the qualifications were for palliative (please provide me a list) and the nurse didn't know.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You wasted my time and energy and staff made promises you didn't keep (ie. Palliative will call you, home care will come out three times, etc.). My insurance shouldn't be charged for your three administrative intakes and as a MBC patient who has had multiple ER visits and hospitalizations for anemia, blood clots, lymphedema where my hand does not work, excruciating pain where I'm on Morphine and doctors giving me less than 6 months to live if medicines don't work, I would like your criteria for palliative care. My mother was in Hospice for probably a year before she passed in November 2024. When I was told that my mother had to go into hospice, it was a very difficult time for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The admission nurse met me at Kaiser and she was wonderful, walking me through the whole process.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The nurses that were assigned to take care of my mother and the social worker, and the priest were all amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were so caring even after she passed they kept calling to make sure that I was OK.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I lost my mother, my brother also passed 10 days later. I would not recommend Salas to anyone. They're argumentative they don't seem to really know what they're doing or even care. They feel like they are doctors, but they're not. We could not get straight answers from anybody. They came to our house and tried to rehabilitate my husband, who is not able to rehabilitate with his illness they just didn't listen. read more

Run from these incompetent buffoons! First you'll never get the supplies you need even though your insurance or Medicare pays for them. Second they will cut your services off short because they are so afraid of being audited by Medicare or the state. But here's the rub, they are the exact example of who should be going through scrutiny for they're lack of abilities to provide the proper care, supplies and all needs to the elderly at home in their care! They can't even get prescriptions called in or fax to a pharmacy within a normal timely manner. They'll let your loved one suffer with pain. They don't do their job properly!. Keep in mind that hospice care is a BUSINESS. Their administrator, Susan, over promised and under delivered. We were guaranteed that a nurse would be available around the clock and would come when we called (Susan told us she could have a nurse to the home in 15 minutes). Relentless calling over nearly six hours and unmanageable pain and violent vomiting was not the peaceful end of life experience we were told that Salus would aid in providing. Within 24 hours of coming home for hospice my mother was back in the hospital where she had peace. KNOW the hospice company you are choosing AND ADVOCATE for your loved one! It is critical. The Salus nurse brought bedbugs into our house. We've lived here for 4 years, and only after one visit from their nurse, we have bedbugs. The nurse put her supply bag down next to my mom. They came from the previous residence she visited, the bugs hitched a ride in her pack and was delivered to us!! The bites are vicious, painful, huge welts that are multiple. They take a month to heal. The bugs keep coming back night after night. We hired an exterminator, but they're still around.the lain has been unbearable.. The news and complaint we submitted to Salus fell on deaf ears. I'm wondering how many more households they've infested! There's lots of better health care companies, Salus could care less about their patients. It's all about money and not being responsible for their actions. read more

SALUS USING SIBLING TO RETALIATE FOR REVIEW In response to my honest personal experience review, Salus contacted an out-of-town sibling in their continued effort to pit siblings against each other. Not just to retain our business, but now to prop up their Yelp rating. Salus should not be encouraging anybody to retaliate with intent to harm with ridiculous falsehoods. I want only the best for my mother as any loving daughter would. My role as my mother's primary live-in caregiver is heart-breaking enough without the high drama from the hospice provider, and an out-of-town sibling who plays no role in our mother's daily care whatsoever. Update: I was immediately contacted by management after leaving a 4 star review and we discussed communication improvements. I do believe the contact is sincere; therefore, I changed my 4 star to a 5 star review. My husband has been really ill and has been on home health care a few times. I will have to say, all HHC agencies have issues but this one is the best. Since he was so sick, it was difficult to work around "their" schedule. The PT person was missed twice due to my hubby feeling so sick. The bather, Gloria, however, was more flexible and did an excellent job. The nurses that came were very polite and professional. I would highly recommend this business. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was there was some issues with communication. My husbands midline (picline) should have been removed on a Friday and I had to demand they come almost a week later. But even when I demanded they come to change the line; the manager went over and above to make a nurse available to come and get the work done. It's always stressful when your family member is sick and this company helps to make it right. Thank you for your help. And just know, Gloria the bather is an excellent worker, kind, professional and a pleasure to work with! read more

Okay, this is my, i think third review for Salus Homecare. My husband has had three back surgeries of which Salus Home Care was hired for the last two. AN INCREDIBLE COMPANY. What ever they do to hire the staff, they are doing an incredible job. My husband, this time, has broken his ankle. He was in rehab for almost three months as he could not put any weight on his ankle.. We asked for Salus for Home Health-mainly PT... again wonderful staff.. Tricia has been sooo compassionate and understanding. SALUS keep hiring incredible people. I know they are hard to find but you are doing a terrific job. It is what makes your company. Every person from your intake department all the way to the clinical team were very professional. At my first visit Sonny was very punctual and right on time, extremely knowledgeable, and was able to teach my husband and my son how to do the IV antibiotics. The nurses that followed were , Christina came one time when it was time to do my lab draws however a patient earlier ended up needing to use the supplies that she needed. So we pushed that visit to the following day and that is when Darlene took over for the rest of the visit. Darlene was very knowledgeable and very punctual and on time. She was very confident and it showed. I absolutely will refer others to Salus. Very Impressed! 5/2/2021 Heaven forbid you need an RN at night because you won't get one. They will tell you to go to the ER because they don't have RNs that work at night. Also you will not get incontinence supplies if your loved one comes home on a Friday because they do not deliver those supplies on the weekend. A hospice company that limited hours for RN's and tell you, you will bot get your supplies on a weekend. Awful experience when going through a difficult sad time with my daddy. Sales pitch that I got was not the service my dad received. Lisa also hung up on me and I had to call the service line again. My heart is so sad . 05/03/2021 - My situation got worst, I caught the nurse Nancy trying to steal alcohol prep pads that I went out and purchased from CVS. Had to call 911 for my dad to get his picc line replaced and when the firemen arrived the nurse Nancy jumped in her car and sped away. The fireman told me it was very unprofessional of her and she supposed to talk to them as a medical professional and let them know what was going on. Most awful heartbreaking experience from the awful hospice company. I'm in tears . The ER was able to fix my dads picc line when terrible RN Nancy said it had to be replaced. Staff at Salus are terrible, especially Tara, Lisa who hung up on me and Nancy. Nancy wanted to switch my dad to oral antibiotics when my dad had a blood infection. So wrong and unprofessional to add insult to injury I caught Nancy stealing supplies I bought for my dad. Before leaving the ER on Monday 5/3 we changed to Vitas for hospice care for my dad. My dad passed away several days later and all the staff from Vitas took good care of my dad and where able to give my dad his Iv antibiotics and train us properly to administer his antibiotics in the evening time. Do not use Salus for hospice care they do not care. I recommend Vitas for hospice care they where amazing to my dad and us as a family. read more

Their caregivers are lazy and incompetent. They were good for awhile, then slacked off, not bothering to show up, leaving my elderly mother without care. This last time, the caregiver they sent left after two hours (after not bothering to show up with week before). When I complained, they quit. No notice, no explanation. I called, looking for answers. They won't take my calls. PS. They finally called me back. They're now claiming the services they were contracted to provide (light housekeeping, laundry and meal prep) were not what they were contracted to provide. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

OT and nursing always arrived on time. Clear communication when scheduling the next appointments and arrived at that time. We constantly had to text the PT and ask when the next appointment was and never knew what time she was coming until she actually arrived (would give a time, but ALWAYS late except one time when we were the first appointment of the day). On some occasions, we would plan a morning and she was so late she arrived during dinner time. Improvement could also be made on the clarity of when services would end. Nursing was clear on when the visits would end, OT was a little better (we found out the week before), and PT only identified how many visits were left when we told her OT was done (she said oh yeah I'm supposed to discharge this week too). Everyone was very friendly and respectful of the home, communication and timeliness could be improved upon. read more

Our case manager/staffing supervisor, Jorleny, was impeccable. From the beginning she was supportive, compassionate, articulate and professional. Could not have asked for a better person to work with. The two care givers, Dora and Janette, were wonderful. Every time I dropped by, my mother's house was spotless and she was happy and well cared for. They genuinely loved my mom, and gave her their attention, affection and expert care. I could sleep at night knowing she was safe, well fed, and protected. I would recommend Salus to anyone looking for home health care. Everyone there gave 100% to make this experience so positive. I used solace healthcare to drive me from Houck Hospital to the Newport rehab and superior after my hip was replaced.. They were the worst just doesn't get any worse they sent me somebody who did not speak English they sent me somebody who had no idea where she was going and she had no air conditioning in her carIt was only three days since my operation and when I got to the Newport Rehab I threw up all over from heat exhaustion. Used salus for healthcare and hospice. They were wonderful. Kim Hayden is exceptional. In fact I chose Salus Hospice because of her. Smart, communicative, results oriented, and very knowledgeable. The caregivers were all good. On time, hard workers, friendly, exceptionally good with my wife. I couldn't ask for more. This was an extremely difficult time and Salus Homecare helped make our lives easier and kept my wife peaceful, comfortable, and well cared for. Salus hospice was exceptional. From the moment at the hospital that they talked about my wife in hospice to the final moments she was in their good hands . From the nurses ( Eliana and Christie), and the bather (Judy), the social worker (Erica), the chaplain (Dave) and finally the emergency support line I always felt there was great help available. The hospice care far exceeded my expectations. Hope that I never have to use hospice again but I would highly recommend them. Salus is great. read more
