I always see this shop off the freeway as I drive back to LA from SD and had never stopped (yet…read moreheard good things from friends who had); but today with traffic horrible and in need of a tank fill I got my opportunity. I had called ahead to make sure (because not all dive shops are treated equal) and they confirmed they did. When I entered I realized that this was definitely a full service scuba center, not just a shop with a few items here and there; they had a full selection of gear, a large pool and learning center, a very nice large changing room, etc etc., basically everything you could ask for from a dive shop/center. I don't live locally to the area, but happy I stopped and I'm armed w knowledge for the future, and to share here, that they'll take care of you with friendly and professional service.

There was one green pair left and I mentioned that green is my son's favorite color. Long story short--we needed another pair the next day. I went back and after telling them I needed another pair, they guy at the counter (sorry I missed his name) saw me looking at what was out (no green) and said, "didn't you say his favorite color is green?" And he went in the back and brought out a pair of green kid goggles. Places where people go out of their way for something small like this are exactly the type of places that deserve good reviews and good business!

Oceanside Adventures - Mom & Baby Gray Whale taken by our drone photographer Mark Newman

I've lived here my entire life and have never been whale watching but have always wanted to,…read morehowever it's just not an experience I'd typically consider splashing out on for myself (**spoiler alert - my visit was less than two weeks ago and immediately after disembarking I told my husband I wanted to get on another tour stat!) For Christmas, my husband's aunt gifted tickets to our entire extended family to enjoy a whale watching tour together so we finally landed on a date and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our 9:30am boarding time, checked in at the kiosk and were given paper tickets to be handed over to the crew as we came aboard. Once onboard, we were introduced over the speaker to the captain and crew and given a quick rundown of the itinerary and safety procedures. We navigated through the harbor where we spotted our local sea lion neighbors basking in the sun which especially delighted the kids and the out-of-town/state passengers, sailed out of the harbor and into the open sea. It was a pleasantly calm morning with hardly any wind and very smooth sailing. The only slight downside was that it was a particularly gray morning, so there was little distinction between the color of the ocean versus the sky but it was very clear and we could see for a long distance. We got probably close to halfway through our two-hour tour without any sightings but once we were about 5 miles off the coast, we started hearing transmissions between the crew over their walkies so we knew to start keeping our eyes peeled. The next half hour or so was spent watching three beautiful fin whales take turns coming up for air, swimming under the boat, rolling playfully and showing their light-colored bellies. It was so fun to be able to move about the boat freely to try to get the best view, some photos and videos, while being filled in by the crew on interesting marine facts. Finally the whales took their deep dives, at which point we were informed they wouldn't be coming back up for air for a while and it was about time to head back. The cruise back was equally smooth as the adventure out, and we got in right on time and prepared to disembark but not before getting coupons for a future expedition and adorable fin whale stickers to commemorate our tour. I can't WAIT to go on another whale watching tour with Oceanside Adventures - it was the best time!! I would 100000% recommend.

What a great day for whale watching!…read more The crew is amazing! Ivy, Tekon, Saxon, Chris. Hope I got all the spelling right! I've been on this boat and it's not always a guarantee as nature is nature but today was perfect. Calm seas, thousands...yes thousands of dolphin and a dozen whales. Mostly humpback but we saw two finback as well. So rad. Can't wait until next time!

Both masks had a small flow from the inside. They needed to be serviced. Sandra helped me with connection with Jesse. Jesse (Tech) was able to diagnose and gave me options over the phone. His knowledge base is outstanding with these masks. They need to be serviced every two years of 100 dives. I had 10 days to get our masks serviced. Jesse made and appointment for me and I went down to Ocean Reef. They have a beautiful facility and everyone was welcoming. Jesse recommended a new folding support for the communication system and had my masks done in two hours. Thank you to all at Ocean Reef. We love your masks and the service is outstanding.

I can't imagine buying any equipment other than Ocean Reef.

Mike is a standup guy and his pricing is very competitive and he always keeps me informed of the status of my zincs and bottom paint. There's a lot of hull cleaners out there so it's a bit of a crap shoot on if you're going to find a good one or a scammer that does shoddy work knowing few of us actually hop in the water and inspect the work afterwards. I do inspect it and have never been dissatisfied with their work. They charge me their cost for zincs and they don't charge me for installation while other companies upcharge for zincs and there's an additional cost to install each one of the 6 my boat uses (that adds up quick so I figure every time I need zincs SDHD saves me about $100 minimum). I've even called them in an emergency and Mike raced out and prevented a busted thru-hull from sinking my prized possession; the best part is he didn't charge me an arm and a leg for off hours work though it would have been perfectly appropriate for him to do so. I see there's only one other review here on yelp and the guy is dinging them for a referal that didn't workout which is ridiculous - no good deed goes unpunished I guess. Next time someone asks for a service you guys don't do tell them sorry and don't try to help any further or you'll end up getting a bad review for having the audacity to try to help and having things happen that are out of your control entirely. Never trust a review from a guy that has no real experience with a company - that's like trusting a product review from a person who doesn't own the product. Anyways, you can't go wrong hiring San Diego Hull Divers. I speak from experience - they're trustworthy and skilled, and are they type of business you won't regret giving your hard earned money to. A++
