Cool vibe and great service with tasty and interesting food. We ordered quite a few things. The pork belly yakitori had great flavor, was cooked perfectly, and pretty tender. We ordered all of the rolls. Surprisingly the hot stuff roll packed decent spice. It wasn't too spicy but had enough spice to live up to its name. The chicken fried chicken and dumpling dumplings were interesting. They didn't really stand out to me. The chili crab udon had a very distinct taste to it. It was almost a bit too sour or something, however it wasn't terrible. I think I was just expecting a more crab and butter taste. Overall, good experience!

Date niiiight! I've known about this place for quite some time but finally decided that the hubby and I should give it a try! When we arrived we were greeted by who would be our waiter, Nik. He was pretty awesome and we really enjoyed him. He was able to answer any questions that we had regarding the menu and even made recommendations for us first time Sake drinkers. As it turns out, I don't like Sake, but Nik switched it out for wine for me without me even asking. I was so appreciative because I really didn't want to complain about it or even ask to return it. The food was so good! We started with the fried chicken gyoza that comes with gravy for dipping. It was crunchy and actually tasted like fried chicken. They were seasoned and tasted good! My udon was amazing. I really enjoyed it and my husband sampled it and was impressed. He had the dirty fried rice as his main meal and emptied his bowl! We shared the hot chick sushi roll but we weren't super impressed by it. It wasn't nasty, but it didn't taste like the Buffalo chicken that we expected. I'll definitely try a different roll next time! I will say that the chairs weren't clean. That was the first thing that I noticed when I sat down, but I was more hungry than anything else! Overall we had a great experience! Our waiter was super cool and the food was amazing. Yay! We found a new spot!

One of my favorite places in Memphis. Enjoyed everything I ate there especially the dirty rice. The hamachi was also divine. Lava lamp cocktail is refreshing.

Super cute spot in the Broad District. We decided to stop in after attending a pilates class a few businesses over. Street parking is available, but depending on the time of the day, it might require you to park a little further down or around the corner. Upon entry, it's very cozy and inviting. We opted for bar seating as we were the only patrons at the time. The staff was super friendly and helpful with suggestions. During the lunch hour, only options are appetizers and sushi. There is also a happy hour on well drinks. I started with a cosmo and spicy crawfish rolls. Shortly after, our server suggested we try the potato salad and brought us a sample. Super delicious. The bartender later made us a mule, which was pretty good. By this time, I decided to order the potato salad, which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is a large patio area which I'd love to visit when the weather improves. Highly suggest visiting this spot. Great food, cocktails and relaxed environment.

I had a great experience here, in many ways! I brought my friend here for a celebration, and they let me bring in my own cake. Service was excellent, and our hostess even dug around in the kitchen to find gluten-free soy sauce for me (AMAZING AND RARE). The sushi was super fresh and delicious, and also was a fan of their miso soup. Can't wait to return!

This new (at least since I've last visited Memphis) spot in the Broad Avenue Arts district is good, but not my favorite spot for Asian fusion in Memphis. Everything on the menu has the potential to be great with just a few tweaks. We ordered the crab udon noodles, which were spicy and had a great texture, but the crab mixture was too salty to really pile it onto the noodles. The wild mushroom dumplings were also good, but I think I was expecting more pieces of mushrooms and it was more of a purée-- but the flavor was great. The carrots had great flavor but were luke-warm veering on cold, which seemed like a weird choice. The highlights were the Life's a Peach cocktail (don't miss if you're a whiskey-lover) and the Miso Chocolate Chess Pie. I wouldn't say the miso flavor really comes through; but the sesame brittle and crust was great, and chocolate pie is chocolate pie. Lots of patio seating if you're COVID-conscious like us!

LOVED Salt Soy! Reason #1 their herb/veggie garden is super impressive. Reason #2 shrimp-peppers/eggplant dish/okra/ginger salad Reason #3 K.B. is such a pro server. She is warm and inviting. Reason #4 Austin is a one man show. He recently won a huge mixology belt and was so interesting! Phillip is working with him and learning to make fabulous and inventive drinks. We learned a lot about mezcal that we didn't know. Reason # 5 I don't know exactly what they put in my drink but after I finished I sure as hell don't look 61 years old!

Every now & then, I encounter a restaurant that makes me regret the leniency of my other 5 star reviews... this is one of those moments. Salt|Soy aims for excellence, and it's apparent in every part of the dining experience. From the friendly, accommodating hostess at the door, to the ambiance of the place, they get everything right. We sat at the bar & watched sushi being made as we waited on a table on the outside deck. On to the food. Sooo good! I had the Kara Age (fried chicken dish) and the Big Tuna... my mind was blown by the sushi, specifically. I also had the House of the Ritten Sun cocktail which was somehow simultaneously smooth and yet pretty potent. My friend enjoyed the creamy crab which is basically what it sounds like & the Lash LaRue roll. Between us, there was not a crumb left. We will definitely be back to try more of the amazing food, however it's the service here that's the real winner.

The menu has been carefully crafted (creative with delicious food at a great price point) every time I've visited. Yes Memphis is landlocked, but if you're gonna go for sushi definitely add Salt|Soy to your list of options. I'll be back!

Country ham dumplings - deep fried

Ok - so I wanted to love it! I mean I really really did! First the menu is mainly small plates so no real solid meal choices. I ordered seaweed salad a personal fav of mine- did not like the Kombu seaweed too think and flat. The wakeme seaweed was just too sold- nice cucumbers and sauce. The Yakatori was tiny portions and so dull I got chicken and egg plant. Seriously one slice of chicken thigh for $7 . The king ramen had a grainy texture- just bland - the pork was nicely rendered and fine but not good enough to save the dish. The country ham dumplings deep fried- very fusion but - idk the just disappointing. Honestly I wanted to love it- but nope and I really don't write bad reviews but after $50 I got a little Caesar's pizza to get full.

Every time I come here I'm astounded at the amount of high quality and uniquely delicious food I get, and even more impressed at how affordable the experience was. Perhaps my favourite restaurant in Memphis. I always enjoy whatever I order to eat or drink here.
