Normally these trips are booked a year in advance. Luckily, he was able to find an available spot for us with one of his outfitters. He couldn't have picked the perfect outfitter for us to go with. Andy was very clear, concise and prompt when responding to my emails. Especially with the time difference (Hawai'i) and my graveyard hours work shift. I was still able to obtain all the details I needed for this trip of a lifetime and book it with ease. Advantage booked us on our 6 day/5 night motorized raft trip through the Grand Canyon with Wilderness River Adventures and it was amazing from start to finish. The absolute most fun we've ever had doing anything. My husband and I are active seniors, 69 and 67 respectively and we loved every minute. Advantage and Wilderness coordinated our trip with pre-trip packing list, complete and thorough directions about where and when to meet our connecting transportation to Page, AZ, booked our first night's lodging and got us to the river in a comfortable coach with a super friendly driver. Our river guides were amazing - can't say enough good things about them and how well they took care of us and managed every day of the trip from wonderful cowboy coffee and delicious breakfasts to start our day, thrilling rides through the canyon with stops for hikes and lunches and selection of beautiful camp sites each evening with gourmet meals that were over the top!! As she was unloading the big bus rolled up ( 8:30 am) and honked she went to move her truck instantly a guide jumped out of the truck and started dropping the f bomb, peacocking and threatening the lady to the point I was concerned for her safety. She said she was trying to move out of the way but the guide kept yelling at her in a totally unprofessional manner calling her a bitch, dropping the fbomb, threatening to throw her stuff in the river the whole time not allowing her to move as he was in between her and her truck. He just was escalating the problem all she kept saying was ok I am going to move but he kept preventing her. His mannerism was narcissistic, chauvinistic and his odor was suspect. As a guide professionally for 35 years at various rivers including the Salt, and now working promoting adventure tourism I find this behavior unacceptable and I will not be endorsing this company. I understand at the end of the season folks get burned out but maybe the guide should take anger management or work at the DMV. Start out with hello instead of " You stupid B@#$%h". Having thought about the incident of which I only witnessed it is sad that in such a beautiful spot it occurred.

Reserving a spot and kayak is easy on the online website. Once you navigate down to the main road to the Guest Ranch, it can be a little confusing as they always have a roadblock as you progress towards the parking lot. Just proceed past the sign to the parking lot ahead. After parking, walk back towards the ranch and check in. Guest services will provide a wrist band as well as a parking pass to place on your dashboard. Once your reservation time is ready, you will be provided a quick orientation of the equipment, navigation of the river and where the staff will pick you up at the end of your float. The staff is always super helpful. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a carabiner to hook on your dry bag or backpack to the kayak. Even though the majority of the river is an easy float, there are some small rapids. You may accidentally flip the kayak if you get caught in a tough spot on the River. This will prevent you from losing your bag! I'm experienced and have flipped once or twice. Depending on the time of year and water flow, the float can take 2 or 3 hours. Beautiful views of the landscape, wildlife including various birds and the gorgeous wild horses! At the end of the float, the staff will load your kayaks and take you back to the Guest Ranch. In the main building, be sure to stop by the gift shop prior or after the float for souvenirs or in case you forgot supplies you may need. They have several items including sunscreen, water shoes, hats, shirts snd much more. I found prices to be reasonable. This is the perfect place to bring out of town visitors. They will love it.

This was PERFECT, so happy we did this over the tubing. There's a reason tubing has mixed reviews and these are all positive! It took us exactly 2 hours and it was very leisure. We wanted to sit and enjoy the beauty, it was fun to race in our kayaks, and one time we pulled over to jump in the water to refresh. We did the 7:15am Sat July 5 hoping we would get a nice serene time and compared to how it usually sounds, it was very peaceful. Few party people down the river but nothing too crazy. I recommend not going later than 7:30 if you want a more peaceful time to yourself and low crowds. Plus the sun wasn't as brutal. Saw a woman go on her own, and you're definitely fine to do it by yourself. Charge up your phone so you have plenty of juice for photos and videos and in case you need to make a "help call" "Rapids" are not bad at all so fun and simple. The quality of what they provide is very nice. They send detailed instructions of what to expect, including parking (refer to email). Do not forget your water shoes. We didn't need a snack during but it was nice to have after, obviously water is a must plus sunscreen. We wore rash guards and hats and I recc that. Pre buy a waterproof phone lanyard. I got wonderful photos and videos from something cheap on Amazon The most wild life we saw was one horse and like 5 fish lol I wish there was an easier way to keep my water in front with me because every time I went to grab it behind me I was worried I would tip myself. I also wish they had little signs to point which way to go, it's simple, but after the excitement heat etc, it's like "wait they did say left middle right left, right?" lol Can't think of any other tips, besides just do this, can't imagine you would regret. We are new to the area and wanted to do something that felt very Arizona, super happy with the decision

It wasn't too busy so finding a parking spot was fast. We unloaded, and walked over the the check in area to purchase tickets. The cost of the ticket included the shuttle ride to and from the drop off / pickup area. We floated for 2.5 hours and it was sooo much fun. The water was cold but the sun was hot. For the most part we relaxed and in some areas we struggled as the currents were strong. We had paddles on hand so that helped a lot. We saw a few horses roaming around. We took sheets to wrap around our tubes as they tend to get really hot. We also wore water shoes as the rocks hurt really bad when stepped on. We took rope to tie our tubes together and that was great. So much fun. Life jackets are definitely recommneded if you dont know how to swim!

He strapped the boats onto the top of our rental car, went over all the equipment we needed, and took the time to explain which parts of the river we should explore. Captain Ted works out of his private residence is located 20 minutes from Salt River. His rates are fair and he was a joy to do business with.

We met them at the tram as instructed, but after we got off, nobody showed up. We had to carry all of our belongings over ourselves, including two very heavy ice chests and fishing gear. After we had already carried everything over, someone finally showed up with the golf cart. At that point, my grandpa said, "We don't need your help. Good job about taking $50 from me, though." Then, when we went back to check the rest of our group in, we were kicked out and accused of "hostile behavior." We paid $50 for a service that we did not receive, and instead of trying to resolve the situation, we were removed. Overall, a very frustrating experience and extremely poor customer service. When I arrived to pick up my reservation, none of the gear had been prepared. I spent over an hour in the store while employees searched for equipment, including the cookset I had reserved. I was eventually given a Jetboil stove and separate cookset, but no one explained any compatibility limitations and the only instruction was provided after I specifically asked. On the trip, while boiling water for dinner, the stove caught fire and we extinguished it immediately. When I returned the gear and explained what happened, I was told I would be charged for the damaged equipment. The most disappointing part of the experience was the interaction with the owner. Rather than discussing what happened professionally, he told me he couldn't believe someone could be "so stupid" and that the employees were all laughing at me in back for not knowing that I could only use one of the two pots they rented me with the stove and said I should have Googled it before renting it (not that the brand or model was listed on their website). Mistakes happen. Had this been limited to a reservation mix-up or equipment issue, I probably would not be writing this review. What turned me away permanently was the way the situation was handled afterward. As a final note, the store called me three days after I returned the equipment because it had not been checked back into their inventory system and they wanted to confirm I had actually returned it, so their inventory management issues didn't seem like a one off.

I witnessed multiple children putting toys in their mouths (which is totally normal for kids), but what was concerning was that those same toys were often placed right back into shared play areas. While I later learned there is a designated bin for toys that have been in kids' mouths, this wasn't communicated upfront, and I didn't see it being consistently used or enforced. There also seemed to be inconsistency when it came to staff involvement. Across my two visits, I did see some staff members actively cleaning up and returning toys to their proper places, which I appreciated. However, I also observed others simply picking up toys and dropping them into corners of the rooms without any real organization or sanitizing. I completely understand that keeping up with kids is a challenge--I'm a parent too--but that's where consistent staff engagement becomes really important. Another issue was the level of parental supervision. Many parents were on their phones while their kids played freely. Again, that's ultimately a parenting responsibility, but in a shared environment like this, it contributes to the overall hygiene and safety concerns. I also want to mention that I found the staff presentation a bit unprofessional, which added to the overall impression that things weren't being closely managed. To be fair, you do sign a waiver regarding illness, and I understand that no play space can be completely germ-free. However, I did end up contracting chickenpox exactly 10 days after visiting, which makes me seriously question the effectiveness of their cleaning and sanitizing practices. Overall, this place is incredibly cute and full of potential. With more consistent staff involvement, clearer communication, better sanitization systems, and encouragement for parents to stay engaged, it could be an amazing environment. Right now, though, it falls short of what it could and should be.

My 13 year old son and I were in Phoenix for a week and decided to book this trip. We're SO glad we did. I have only rafted once, and it was a first for my son, and we both thought it was fabulous! The guides were super, the trip was a blast, the scenery spectacular, and we were blessed with perfect weather. Kelly, our raft guide, was very informative and patient. We had a big mouth teenager in our boat who really became annoying, but Kelly kept her cool and politely asked him to stop calling commands (as his mother seemed oblivious to his obnoxious behavior.) If I were to do this again (and we hope to do a 2 day next year) I would try to get 4-6 people to fill our own raft. We did drive from Phoenix the morning of the trip. They say 2 1/2 hours, but we left Glendale at 6:50 AM, thinking the 10AM arrival would be a breeze with the extra time, and we hit SERIOUS traffic on I10, so the drive was more like 3+ hours. We just made it. Use the directions from their website, as my phone's GPS was taking me elsewhere. There are many locations where you won't get service anyway, so bring along your printed directions and FOLLOW THEM. After the trip, on the way back up the river, the bus broke down (issues from sitting through the winter?) We were still about a mile away, so one of the guides RAN a mile down the canyon and then drove another bus BACKWARDS up the winding, narrow, canyon path, to get us back to our cars. My hero!! Due to this slight delay, we caught the most spectacular sunset on our drive back to Phoenix (which was only 2 1/2 hours without the traffic.) Their dog, Atlas, is a sweetheart. We wanted to take him home. Don't hesitate to do this trip. It's worth every penny. They provided everything we needed - wetsuits, booties, jackets (the water was COLD for this Florida girl.) Take a waterproof camera along, but don't eschew your rowing duties on the rapids. read more

First of all, kudos to SRR for an amazing 3 Day Wilderness trip! Tarik, our guide, was not only knowledgeable, but probably one of the friendliest guys on the planet. His knowledge of flora, fauna, geology, and history absolutely blew our minds. Andy, the gear boat guide, recently engaged, was a joy. And "El Chefe"? What can we say about a guy dedicated to the craft of food? Super good! My wife and I were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, were greeted with warmth and congratulatory praise. The trip was exciting, relaxing, informative, and at times, absolutely serene. The care taken to ensure our safety and well being exceeded our expectations. Made a decision during these crazy times (Coronavirus) to get my boys out and enjoy an adventure. When pulling up I'd have to say I didn't expect much, I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived and signed in our guide was engaged, from the safety first talk, to the fitting of our gear. In my opinion a good, funny, engaged guide makes the trip. Our guy was Brendan, and if you want an amazing true whitewater experience this is the company, and guide you want. The all day, or more is the only way to go. This was our families first time rafting. There were two adults and 4 kids ages 12-16. Not sure what to expect. This was perfect for this age group and first timers. All we had to do was show up. (We did have to purchase sun protectant shirts but even those were cheaper than we found at the outdoor sporting goods shop) The ride in and out were also beautiful. Our tour guides Annie and Ara were great. They were so knowledgeable about the surrounding area and getting us through the rapids. We saw three bald eagles flying around. Even the lunch was fantastic. Would def do it again and looking to go to Colorado to try one that's a bit more intense for the next round. read more

We had a great day rafting with our guide Matt who skillfully lead us down the salt river and also mixed in a lot of fun! Matt tells the best story of the kissing Apache and he also has the ability to capture all the excitement in each rapid. We even got to surf a hole in the whitewater! The whole crew is a good bunch of people that work really, really hard. They will keep you safe and they will make sure you have some fun. Oh and yes the views are just gorgeous! read more

Took a group of 24 Scouts and adults on the raft and camp trip. It was fantastic. The Guides were exceptionally knowledgeable, not only about rafting but the area's history and topography. Each of them made a special effort to connect with our boys and ensured we all had a good time. The food was excellent. They were great hosts and left us with a memorable experience. Ara M was our guide and there isn't enough "Thank Yous" to express how grateful we are for her. My family LOVED IT!!!! She was awesome. The food was fantastic and we felt spoiled all weekend. Wohoo and a "paddle high 5"! What a great trip. Zach was our amazing guide who was such a pleasure to spend a few hours with. He was knowledgeable of the area and I felt so comfortable with his rafting skills and making sure our young boys had the thrill of the rapids but were always safe! A lady was unloading her boat and she knew she needed to hurry as it is was the "wrong" beach but all privates drop their boats there and normally stay tight and out of the way. As she was unloading the big bus rolled up ( 8:30 am) and honked she went to move her truck instantly a guide jumped out of the truck and started dropping the f bomb, peacocking and threatening the lady to the point I was concerned for her safety. She said she was trying to move out of the way but the guide kept yelling at her in a totally unprofessional manner calling her a bitch, dropping the fbomb, threatening to throw her stuff in the river the whole time not allowing her to move as he was in between her and her truck. He just was escalating the problem all she kept saying was ok I am going to move but he kept preventing her. His mannerism was narcissistic, chauvinistic and his odor was suspect. As a guide professionally for 35 years at various rivers including the Salt, and now working promoting adventure tourism I find this behavior unacceptable and I will not be endorsing this company. I understand at the end of the season folks get burned out but maybe the guide should take anger management or work at the DMV. Start out with hello instead of " You stupid B@#$%h". Having thought about the incident of which I only witnessed it is sad that in such a beautiful spot it occurred.

It wasn't too busy so finding a parking spot was fast. We unloaded, and walked over the the check in area to purchase tickets. The cost of the ticket included the shuttle ride to and from the drop off / pickup area. We floated for 2.5 hours and it was sooo much fun. The water was cold but the sun was hot. For the most part we relaxed and in some areas we struggled as the currents were strong. We had paddles on hand so that helped a lot. We saw a few horses roaming around. We took sheets to wrap around our tubes as they tend to get really hot. We also wore water shoes as the rocks hurt really bad when stepped on. We took rope to tie our tubes together and that was great. So much fun. Life jackets are definitely recommneded if you dont know how to swim!

It would have been nice to have a second smaller tube for things and drinks, but when it's almost the same price as a tube pass itself, it didn't make sense to rent one. A couple recommendations would be to bring a sheet of some kind to out over the tube if you're renting one as they get hot VERY quickly. I also recommend having a second tube as there is barely enough room for just you on the ones you can rent. While I suffered because I didn't want to spend the hefty rent price for their carrying tube, I would recommended buying a cheap one to bring.

The good: very easy to rent a kayak; I arrived 15 minutes early and they were fine with me starting…read moreearly. I rented for 1 hour. The price, $23, is very reasonable considering that a one day pass to go on Tempe Town Lake is $10. I am an experienced kayaker so brought my own kayaking clothes, PFD, dry bags, paddle, and cart. Moving the kayak from the store to the water was easy. The bad: the kayak was very slow , tracking was marginal,, and it handled a light chop poorly. My time was almost up and I was heading back to the dock when I realized I was sinking. My PFD kept me safe but my paddle leash, secured to my seat strap, came loose. The strap had unhooked from the gunnel. So there I was floating in the water with my paddle while the kayak floated away. I was able to swim to a nearby dock and a young man pulled me out. Then he used a life ring on a rope to pull in the kayak. My deepest gratitude goes out to him. The guy at Northshore said I might have taken a kid's kayak but their website makes no mention of this option and there were no signs on the rack. Except for asking if I was ok, Northshore has been completely unhelpful.

There's a lot of people tubing and paddle boarding downstream, dogs included too. This is a great place to cool down with the kids, families, and dogs. Parking was easy. Even though there was a sign that says the lot was full, there was plenty of parking spaces.

Another stop on the trail to try to find the wild horses. You can use your America the beautiful…read morenational park pass to avoid any day fees. Didn't see the wild horses here but you could tell that it is a good spot where they could come through. Short walk from the parking lot to the river, and it did not look like it was going to be much on the walk over but glad I decided to walk down there and check it out.
