For laps, I love the Patsy Mink/Veteran's pool in Waipio, but for kids play, this pool is convenient and more than sufficient with its 2 shallow areas and area for diving and jumping, in the deep section of the pool. Suggestion: even if it is salt water, it would be best to have googles as the water burns the eyes quickly. It is the ideal spot for a birthday party with the big park available next to it, but what is inconvenient is that this pool is not consistently open. You have to check. With the government the way it is, I'm just glad it is still open but I check before going. Also, if there are parties at the park, like this weekend, those parties can cause the pool to get pretty full as it is a pretty small pool. No one got hurt though so that works. There is usually an abundance of parking available, even with the parties at the park, and I found that all of the life guards are pretty alert and yet respectful in their approach to correcting dangerous behavior. The showers can be a bit cold, but I have found that overall, the water of the pool is warmer then most. Even on those empty days without all those bodies in the water, distributing their heat and, um, maybe other heating elements. lol I'm not sure but it could be heated. Put on your sunscreen and sunglasses because even though free swim is usually between 3:15 and 5, it can be sunny! Oh, just in case you were wondering, on weekdays there are usually 2 lanes open for lap swim and it usually is empty. I don't believe there is lap swim on weekends. Happy Swimming!

The only downside is that parking can suck depending if there's an event happening at the community center. The staff at Leahi is amazing. Ashley, who works the front desk almost always and helps with registration is amazing. She's so personable and treats everyone like family! She and the pool staff made accommodations to help my daughter feel comfortable during her first lessons without a parent. The staff in the pool has been amazing and accommodating. Kiki - who graduated HS and is no longer working there, really helped my daughter with her confidence and really helped her literally every step of the way. Sage was so fun and very enthusiastic! Ashley (in the pool) also helped my daughter gain confidence when my daughter was really swimming on her own. Koa is awesome and really makes you feel so welcomed too! I also do commend the owners as well. I was at the pool one day when there was a troubled parent/grand parent asking why her student couldn't move up levels. Even though this customer was clearly frustrated and maybe a little angry with the owner, the owner explained why so calmly that the requirements aren't just there just cause - it's for safety too!! Open swim is always nice, usually Saturdays at 4pm. It does get crowded so either come super early or late!

These two factors alone is what my son was able to achieve. Located in a quiet pearl city community behind their community center, you'll find leahi swim. A very clean pool deck area and pool. The staff here is always welcoming and are known as Aunties and Uncle's to the kids. The kids here can start off below 3 years old but if they are they must attend the class with the parent. 3+ may attend classes that fits their swim level and skills. When I enrolled my son he was at the level of not being able to put his head under water on his own and he absolutely hated splashes. He just could never get his face wet! So he started beginner I. After a little over a year and about 6 seasons, he's now able to go underwear ingredients voluntarily and swim across the pool! Can never forget his "Pizzas, Tummy, Slice", "Ice Creams", and Foggy Legs techniques plus more. He got to the level we wanted him to finally reach and I can't thank the staff here enough with helping brayden get to the level he is at now (Advanced Beginner II). With all the familiar faces, they still greet Brayden even when he's not in his classes. You'll even see co owner Ben jump into the water and teach a class or two when there's not enough instructors for the day. At the end of each season on the last day it's also "Medal Day!" When kiddos complete their season, they get a medal! Including the babies. A tip for this school, it may be very hard to get enrolled for your first class and may be on a wait list. However once you're enrolled, you get early registration before public for each season going forward. They have an online system with their high volumes of enrollment as well that you'll learn as you do and they provide a flyer every season as well to follow along.

There's a pool near the front that's not just a kiddie pool. There's a ramp and not just stairs at the entrance (good for handicap/stroller accessibility). Unfortunately they closed the snack bar (used to be my favorite place to get gummy snacks after practice). I heard the tennis courts now have a surface that is squishy and unlike regular courts which is not too good. But other than that, it's just as I remember! The parking lot is pretty beat up and today had lots of pooling water in potholes. At least the parking is free!

Gym equipment is located kinda semi outdoors indoors style. Parking is tough in the afternoon with the kids and their parents descending in droves for swim classes or team practices. If you are expecting new equipment and cleanly updated surroundings with quiet work out space..this place is not for you.

It's a great venue to rent out for an event. The one drawback is you have to live there, or know someone that does I wanna say it's around $100- $150 to rent. Wow I can't believe this place only got one star. I'm gonna bump it up because it definitely…read moredeserves more than that! A few weeks ago we had my daughter's birthday party here. There's a calendar online where you can see what dates and times are available. They fill up fast on the weekend so if you want to plan something, do it quick. My daughter told us last minute she wanted a birthday party. And you know what, finding a venue at the last minute can be so difficult. We got lucky with Mariners Cove Bay Club. They had an opening on Friday night and we just took it. We wanted to do a Saturday but both the 9 am slot and 4pm slot were already reserved. The process to reserve is actually very simple. All I did was call the number on the website and ask for possible dates. It's best to do that in case someone reserved and it hasn't been put on the calendar yet. The next step is to fill out an application and pay a deposit fee. The application just says what day and time you need it for and it outlines the rules. There's a lot of rules so make sure to read it carefully. Some of the rules include no hanging things on the walls or ceilings. So that for us meant no piñata. There's a no bounce house rule. Also in order to get your deposit back, you have to make sure it's the way you left it. The site was great for my daughters party. We had about 12 kids and their families. Her party was at the 4pm slot but we didn't start until 5. I didn't think they would swim but the kids went in the pool and swam for a while and enjoyed every bit of it. The facilities have a kitchen that was very helpful. We were able to store our drinks in there during the party. They also have a sink and counter to put the other things. They normally have a range but it was broken when we had the party. They also have a grill. We would have like to use the range but we instead just brought our crock pot and had our chili in there instead. We also made hot dogs and just heated it all in another crock pot. It worked it very nicely. The room was big enough for us to play games with the kids after dinner and they had a lot of fun. It was a lot of work planning the party but my daughter had a fun time and so did her friends. In the future, we will definitely look into using this facility more.
