Thank local artwork, hand blown glass pieces, jewelry, home decor, and a bunch of quirky things you didn't know you needed until you see them. The store feels a bit like a small art gallery mixed with a gift shop. There are beautiful paintings on the walls, colorful glass pieces hanging from the ceiling. (See pics, the jellyfish was absolutely STUNNING) Somebody please buy this for Cody!!! I went in thinking I'll just take a quick look, then suddenly I had spent twenty minutes wandering around noticing new things on every shelf. If you're visiting Bainbridge, or even a local you must definitely stop in. It's a great spot to find something unique and a good reminder of how creative the local artist community is on Bainbridge! Everyone was so friendly and I found the cutest little souvenirs, I picked up a magnet and ornament for next years Christmas trees. The prices are really fair and my little gifts to myself are actually nicely made, definitely worth the cost. They have a couple stores connected so there are fun photos, clothes and definitely Bainbridge/Seattle and Washington souvenirs. Definitely check them out when you're on the island.

I visit Seattle frequently and have been to Bainbridge Island before, but a friend and I were…read morebringing my mother out to Bainbridge Island for her first ever visit (as part of a larger vacation trip). In researching for new and interesting things to do around the island, I discovered this lovely tea shop and their afternoon tea offerings. I'll admit that I wasn't sure if my friend and mother would be into it (I was thinking maybe it would be too corny for them) - but we all ended up LOVING the experience, so much so that my friend came back a couple weeks later with his own mother. The shop itself offers a wonderful array of loose leaf teas and other items like bath & body gift sets, candles, gems, incense, tarot cards, and so on. I'm not into tarot or anything, but I kinda regret not picking up the package of "Wise Dog Tarot" cards just for the novelty of having them. That said, I *did* pick up multiple loose leaf teas from their selection, as well as a couple other gifts. As for the afternoon tea itself, it could not have been more delightful. The cottage where they offer most of their afternoon teas is sweetly decorated - and you can pick out your own tea cup/dish set, try on (surprisingly sturdy) tiaras (if that's your thing), sample a couple teas after reading their thorough menu of loose leaf teas that can be brewed (including those that can tend to various health priorities), all while you also get to enjoy a variety of scones (with jam and clotted cream), sorbet, and lovingly presented finger sandwiches, soup, and desserts on a classic, tea-time curate. While the price may seem a bit much at first, you're not just paying for the food and tea, but you're receiving an experience... and while I had my doubts initially, I can now say without any doubt that the thoughtfulness and service-mindedness that are put into the afternoon tea experience are worthy of the price tag. Also, myself, my friend, and my mother all agreed that we were surprisingly full by the end of our tea time! An exceptional experience all around and I would recommend the afternoon tea to anyone and everyone. :-)

I bought two herbal teas: relief and detox. The ingredients looked so good! I asked if anything contained stevia or sugars and was told none of their teas have that. Yay.

Calico Toy Shoppe is a prominent toy store on Winslow Way, the cute walkable main street of…read moreBainbridge Island's downtown. We managed to hurry past it on the way to lunch, but I knew there was no way we were getting back to the ferry without going inside. Not with a two-year-old, a five-year-old, and my mother in our crew. To our kids' credit, I wanted to get them a souvenir, or at least allow their grandma to buy them something small with my supervision (she can't be trusted on her own). The store was colorful and appealing, and I couldn't deny my boys the pleasure of a quick, moderate visit. Calico was well stocked with toys and games, and my two-year-old immediately went for a giant cement mixer set that would board the ferry out over my dead body. I told the kids and my mom that they could buy one toy each, and that it would have to be something we could easily take home. There was a large selection of stuffies at the front of the shop, and I strongly encouraged them to find something in that area. Our older son obligingly picked an adorable baby turtle, but his brother refused every little stuffie I offered. Instead, he found a cheap disposable pinwheel that cost $3.99. He's been obsessed with fans for about half of his life and apparently, the pinwheel counted. My brother and sister-in-law got a couple baby toys for their babies and we went on our way, all the kids happy with their loot. We've been home for over a week and the baby turtle, now named Baby Turtle, has a place of honor in our five-year-old's bed. The pinwheel pops up in random spots in our house, sometimes waved with aggression in front of our faces. I liked Calico Toy Shoppe and would definitely shop there if I lived on Bainbridge Island. I'd recommend stopping in if you're visiting with kids. It's a great place to pick up a little souvenir.
