Not as in spoiled, but as in horrible quality: The pizza crust was hard on the bottom and chewy (not in a good way), with bizarrely sweet pizza sauce, flavorless pepperoni, and plastic cheese (which is weird, because plastic melts and this cheese definitely doesn't). The pasta was both undercooked and overcooked, something I didn't know was physically possible; there were sections where the dish had chewy noodles, and spots where it was complete mush. The size of the wings was laughably small, like something you'd get off a quail. They were the standard pre-breaded/fried & reheated ones you'd see at any fast food restaurant ... except they were barely room temperature when the order arrived. We would literally have gotten better food for WAAAAY less money if we'd driven around the corner to Food Lion and grabbed stuff from the frozen aisle. Which is what we will do in the future. Lesson learned. Won't ever go back to this place again.

this place has very bad service! today was my last straw with sal's. managers and empolyees dont care about everything, they laugh, joke and play while having bad service and getting orders wrong. the owner does not do anything to correct the actions. im pretty sure she will comment saying sorry but shes not sorry because no actions have been taken. im done with sal's and by the looks of things alot of other guest were feeling the same way while in store. the manager laughed at a guest while i was trying to get service i ordered but ended up leaving becuase im not sure sal's is in business for the right reasons. i wish there were i sals near by other than this one but i will travel to airlane blvd portsmouth, just to get great service an correct food. read more

Worst service ever experienced. The employees' have bad customer service and the owner backs them up on their bad service. PLEASE, I repeat PLEASE spend your money where its appreciated. I order from Sal's at least 4 times a week for my workers ($300) and I WILL NOT spend anymore money with them and will not allow my workers to spend their HARD EARNED money at this place of business. I will pay for my employees' lunches and dinners everyday before WE SPEND A DIME HERE AGAIN!! Note the employee (manager) laughed in my face when I explained the issue. We were planning to go out for Mexican but when we pulled up the kids wanted pizza instead so we tried it. Restaurant was clean, NY style pizza was authentic and their pastas looked amazing! As good as their food was, their service was even better! Sal's Pizza is now one of my favorites in the area and plan on making this place a family "go to". read more

My first time in VA and this was one of my first stops. I have to say that not only was the service amazing, but so was the food. Everyone worked as a team, but most importantly even the owner double checked with each table to make sure everyone was taken care of. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

Just went to Sal's for the 1st time and it won't be our last! Our server was very friendly and attentive and the pizza was outstanding! When I arrived to the location I noticed the the lobby was vacant-dirty; the space was dirty and not ready for guest. The space felt abandoned and soiled. Don't believe me; send the NN Health Department to check it out. When I arrive and walk to the counter to pay; I couldn't help but notice how filthy the gentleman's hands were ... like eww! Wash your hands sir! I was very bothered by this. I understood the gentleman's first language may have not been English and he seemed kind hearted; but again Go Wash Your Hands! Complete turn off. The customer service here lacked due to poor usage of English, however, I can say there were smiles worn, correct change given, and a receipt with my order. Yet still not enough to keep me from telling Yelp on y'all. Seriously this place should not be in business. FUN FACT: Did you know that more than 60 percent of new restaurants fail within the first year of being open? (Google it.) Often, the main reason new restaurants fail is primarily because of location. I'd like to think that the owner was the gentleman with the ungodly hands and in that case generally the owner lacks self-awareness that he has no business actually being at that location. This area has grown and converted to a more complex and upbeat town; with NNS employees foot traffic comes a price tag and it shouldn't be to the ER due to lack of superb personal hygiene. This can cause food poisoning. Superb personal hygiene let alone food safety/handling isn't a request, it's a requirement. P.S. I didn't feel comfortable eating the food or giving it away.. so it went to the Dump, to the DUMP, to the dump DUMP Dump ...
