I love this place!!! I started going to Zahra in 2017 after we moved to Atlanta. Zahra carries the top hair care brands like Kerastase and Moroccanoil. I'm very blond and she's helped me stay the perfect blond while making sure my hair is healthy. She always makes time for me as a client and fits me into her schedule- even when I know she's extremely busy! Zahra is fun, energetic, and really cares about her clients. She owns the salon and is the only hair stylist in her salon, so your experience is very private and relaxing. I had gotten a haircut at Salon Zahra last year, and the urge to lighten my hair struck me. I had remembered seeing that they specialize in blonde color, so I went in asking for ombré/balayage hair color. Yes, I had very dark brown box dye in my hair left over from about 6 months ago. They warned me that it might "pull orange". Sure. I've been through this song & dance many a time over the last 15+ years I've been messing with my hair (I change hair color about once a year). I understand that it takes a major overhaul to turn dark-colored hair light. What I did not expect was that I would walk out with blotchy, patchy, bright orange hair with random chunks of yellow. The only bright side I can say is well, it's Halloween time and I can easily go dressed as a scarecrow? I was dismayed and trying to convince myself that my hair wasn't orange as I walked out. That was a losing battle - I quickly booked a "rescue" appointment with another salon that is further from my house but was able to do a MUCH better job and correct the orange tragedy (see my pics for before and after). Sorry but I gotta call it like I see it. I would not go here for color under any circumstances. read more

it's been years since I've been on this so called journey to find a permanent hairdresser/stylist. what better way for someone who's not a billionaire to try out new places than groupon? so that's how this place was discovered. the groupon had specified to called in for an appointment, so that's what I did. again, with the skepticism.. I wasn't too sure how the person on the other end was going to sound. turns out the receptionist was very nice in greeting and helping me find a time slot and stylist. that was all the good signals I needed to proceed. I was so glad that they weren't too overbooked, so I was able to fit myself in within 3 days away. my appointment was booked for 3pm. I didn't get into a chair 'til 30 mins. later. there were no magazines present on the waiting table, so there wasn't much to do besides play on my phone or scan the salon out. during the wait, the receptionist (not sure if it was the same one who booked my appt) was kind enough to offer me something to drink. how fancy! I've never been to an "upscale" sort of salon before. therefore, this was all so new to me. they have a cooler in the back that holds the drinks. choices vary from: coke, sprite, bottled water, hot tea, coffee, etc. if you're a first timer (like me), the receptionist will also lead you to the fitting room in the back (which is actually a closet with a wall mirror) for you to change into their smock. of course, I never knew what the heck a smock was due to my prior "salon" experiences, so I had no idea what they were trying to get me to wear until I unrolled the piece of clothing out. a smock is a coat-like outer garment, similar to a robe, that you wear to prevent hair and other things from touching your clothes. | HAIR EXPERIENCE | the hair stylist I was assigned to was christina. she was friendly & welcoming, but I don't believe she has experience with asian hair. she did fine with washing my hair. when it came to lathering and scrubbing my hair..it wasn't too rough nor was it too soft. I liked that she wasn't messy like other stylists I've been with. the water didn't splash all over my face, the shampoo didn't reach to my face, nor did any get into my ear. I asked for a layered haircut. specifically, 3 layers that ended in a rounded V shape. in simplest terms, she did what I asked, but she DIDN'T execute it. when she blow dried my hair and styled it with a round brush, she ended up styling my hair into light curls. therefore, I wasn't able to properly see how the haircut actually turned out. don't get me wrong, it looked good the way it was styled. but when the next day or 2 came, that was a different story. the hair had unsettled and was closer to straight hair. I was able to then see all the flaws and how too short of a haircut it turned out to be. in conclusion, I would only return to get treatments or probably color done here. I would not come back for the sake of haircuts though. as for now, I'd say 3 star for the overall experience. I had to take way 2 stars since the main reason I came was for the haircut; which sadly didn't meet my expectations. read more

I have to update my review because my extensions actually fell out. 2 of them did and it was pretty disappointing for only having them in my hair for 10 days. I ended up buying the tools myself and upon inspection of my old extensions the beads that were used did not have silicone which is what was needed to keep the feather's in place with my hair. I am not a hair stylist nor a professional who works with hair but this basic fact I knew so now I don't think I would recommend her salon at all. read more

Last June I had Zahra do a karatin treatment on my hair. During the procedure she realized she was short on product and proceeded to yell at the staff for not letting her know the product was low. I asked if she had enough to do my hair and she replied, "yes". I have heavy curly hair which is why I wanted the karatin treatment. One year later my hair is perfectly straight except for the new growth and it is apparent that Zahra used a PERMENANT straightner on my hair instead of the karatin. She did this because she was running out of product. This will take 3-4 years to grow out, will look awful in the process (because I went through this before) and charged me double the price for a permenant process, and lied right to me. I'm posting this so that everyone can be aware of her. I'm so upset that I'm not even sure what to do but I'm thinking of legal action. On top of this Zahra has been critical of me and how I prefer to handle my hair. She repeatedly talks to other salon employees while doing my hair and I have seen her yell at staff on every occasion, which is why I didn't return. read more

I had been going to the same stylist since I was 13. I was 21 and had strong and thick hair and wanted to give the bleaching trend a try. I LOVED my new look. Keep in mind, this was the girl that had done my hair since I was 13. I was enjoying my white blonde hair for about 6 1/2 months, it did come at a price though. Of course after 6 months, your roots start to grow back and my roots were DARK. My friends told me that I could go to Sally's beauty supply and get stuff to do my roots myself. I called my girl and I asked how much it would cost to get my roots done and she said $230. I was kind of annoyed since I had been such a loyal customer for so long that she wasn't going to cut me a little slack. So then, I decided to give Sallys a try. The store associate directed me to exactly what I needed. I went home, went through the instructions and BAM! I had bright orange roots, I was horrified. They looked even worse than before. After complaining to my friends about my roots and the pricing, Salon Zahra was recommended to me. I was told that Zahra herself was the queen of blondes, as she had bleached blonde hair herself. I met Zahra and she explained to me that we would get my roots looking good as new. We started the bleaching process on just the roots and everything went smoothly. As she was drying my hair, I noticed that my roots came out looking the exact same color orange. I had sat in the chair for 2 hours for NOTHING. I was already frustrated and I absolutely did not want to pay for it. Zahra, realizing that I was arguing not to pay for this, franticly called me over and told me she would do the bleaching all over again with no charge so I agreed. Biggest mistake of my life was getting back in that chair. Little did I know that all of my hair was about to fall out. She then did another round of bleach on my roots after just 30 minutes of washing out the first one. After the second round sat on my scalp for about 5 minutes, I got up without even consulting Zahra and ran over to the shampoo station and asked someone to wash it out. I had never endured such a burning sensation in my life. It felt like my skin was going to fall off of my head. My roots were even more blonde than the rest of my head, it was then that I knew it was something powerful. Zahra suggested no treatment care after that. I paid and left, while scratching my scalp the entire way home. I am not a hair stylist. I had NO idea what was good or bad for my hair at the time. I couldn't believe that I let this stranger do two rounds of bleach on my hair. All Zahra cared about was the money. Even with doing Olaplex treatments every other day (not by Zahra's suggestion) after 2 1/2 weeks, chunks of my hair were falling out from the top. I had washed my hair a total of 3 times since seeing Zara because combing it out when it was wet was just a nightmare. I had a mullet. Wet or dry, hair was just falling out all throughout the day. After months of styling my hair, trying to hid the breakage, I decided that I had to swallow my pride and cut all of my hair off to even it out. I would not recommend Zahra to ANYONE. This women should have told me that bleaching twice in one session was the worst decision for my hair. She had completely ruined it. I am writing this review two years later because my hair has finally grown back, I know I would have been too angry to write this while my hair was still damaged. Clearly has no idea what she is doing with bleach, all she cared about was the money. DO NOT go to her. read more

Beware of the reviews here!!! They bad ones are being removed. Yelp does that for the businesses that pays them so you cannot trust the star ratings anymore. Several years ago my cousin and I both went to this salon with a Groupon and we were ignored and barely talked to. I came back home and read reviews; there were other reviews by women who didn't feel welcomed here, all of us were non-Caucasian, and our reviews detailing that experience have been removed. Please do not go here if you're a person of color because they don't want your business and you'll get the cold shoulder. Let's see if they delete this review too. read more
