*this review is not about Jodie*…read more While I am always beyond happy with my hair extension service, by Sarah Ridling, I had an awful experience with the salon front desk associate Melissa yesterday. I come at least every 6 weeks for extension maintenance, and am always accompanied by my son who is 3. Yesterday I had my 11 and 3 year old. Apparently my 3 year old was disturbing other clients, my back was to the door and I was not aware this situation was happening. Children will be children, I most definitely do not want mine disrupting anyone, and am always happy to rectify that situation. An hour into my appointment my husband arrived to pick up the kiddos and take them to Petco while my appointment was completed. Melissa first reprimanded my child by telling him to "sit down in the chair" and then turned to my husband and informed him that there had been "multiple complaints about your child" he responded that he just arrived, and he left within 2 min, taking the children with him. Out of respect for my stylist I did not plan to confront her, but as I was walking out the front door, she turned to another female sitting on a barstool, and said "that's her that's the mom". I came back inside and confronted her by saying "I do not appreciate the way you handled this situation, I believe it could have been handled a lot more appropriately" every time I tried to explain how I felt or what felt wrong about the situation she cut me off and interrupted me saying several phrases from "I did nothing wrong" to "I wasn't mean". Finally I said, "I am the client and you aren't even listening to me, how you approached this offended me, my back was to the door and instead of coming to me you addressed my child which wasn't your place and my husband who just arrived, to take the kids". She proceeded to tell me that her children and grandchild would never act that way, I said "well we aren't discussing a situation with your children or grandchild, but since you have a grandchild why didn't you come to me as his parent or offer him some paper and crayons and a solution to the issue?" Our conversation, if you can call it that, proceeded for several minutes, until finally it became apparent she was not going to listen or offer an apology for the disrespectful way she handled the situation and talked to me when I confronted her, she said "you can leave", I asked for her bosses phone number. She gave me Austin's cell with a snarky "go ahead and call him". When I called Austin it went straight to voicemail. My stylist being a caring person, called and said she believed it was more of an issue than we believed. She also didn't realize that he was disturbing anyone. To be honest I completely understand not wanting a child to be disorderly, sometimes he behaves perfectly and sometimes he's a little monkey. He is 3 years old, still learning what is right and wrong, and it's my job to teach him. I take full responsibility for that. My issue comes from how the situation was handled, she reacted very unprofessionally and inappropriately by addressing my child without me present, and then confronting my husband who was not a client and also had no idea what had happened. When I chose to leave peacefully, her unprofessionalism continued by talking about me before the front door even closed. When I returned to discuss the issue I felt very disrespected and as if it didn't matter at all that I was displeased with anything regarding my visit. Sarah's solution was that maybe I should just not bring my child on my next visit. I have always brought books or toys or Netflix to occupy him and he has never been a problem before. I informed her that I will find a different salon and stylist based purely upon the fact that the person who is the "face of the business" was so rude and disrespectful to me as a person and faithful client, I drove over an hour to see Sarah every 6-8 weeks and have also used lash services etc from other stylists.
