I was seeking a new hair stylist since I'd just let my hair grow out for ages. I was accommodated very quickly. My stylist Stacey spent time listening to what I wanted and made suggestions as to the best way to achieve my desires (shorter, easier to wash, able to be styled if I want but not fussy, ) She cut carefully, and styled with very light gel but also showed me a wash and drip dry version. It was quite becoming and she was a pleasant conversationalist throughout the process. Prices seem to me to be perfectly in line with the level of training everyone seems to have. The atmosphere was not overly loud (as can be too often the case) and all the workers and clientele were friendly. I also like that they are an AVEDA salon with quality product. Salon Utopia is a lovely relaxing salon. It is an Aveda salon, carrying & using their products almost exclusively. The stylists are all very professional. The restroom has cloth hand towels. Nice touch. It may be an Aveda thing, & it may be nitpicking but when you arrive you're offered something to drink. You can have coffee, tea , hot chocolate or sometimes wine. Tea would be my go to drink. However, they only have one choice. It's something with licorice. I'm sorry, but licorice does not belong in tea! Sam is a magician. My hair was a giant ball of humid frizzy mess. No matter what I did it was just always matted together. It being the fact that it's summer in Florida, and also because I was just desperately in need of a serious professional cut. For the last year I had been going the cheap route and just getting trims at hair cuttery. Definitely nothing wrong with that, but they definitely never get as extensive as I need them to. It was time to spend some money. I can't really even explain what Sam does. She just takes her time and gives attention to literally every strand of your hair. And I'm not kidding, the shine that came off my hair after she blow dried it, was blinding. I also felt like I lost 10lbs. My hair no longer snaps when I brush it. Okay, I'll start by saying the staff in incredible as far as personalities go. I recently got my nails done by the nail tech (can't remember her name) but I was very disappointed. Lack of colors, knowledge, and choices you can do. My nails kept breaking while getting them done and one broke the day after getting them done. Went back in the next day and felt rushed with. Few days later another nail broke. She also used gorilla glue which isn't necessary if you're doing it correctly. Although she was the sweetest woman. I really am upset about my nails. Just spent $70 to redo my nails and get exactly what I wanted with sooooo many options and they turned out fabulous. Fast forward to my hair. Miah is great, don't get me wrong, but my hair is uneven and she was shaking the entire time she was doing my hair. I don't know if nerves are getting to her. But I already don't trust people with my hair and this is exactly why. I didn't realize it was uneven until I showered and did my hair the next day. One side is clearly shorter than the other. So with that being said I had a pretty good experience as far as customer service but the actual service is not worth it. However. If you do decide to get your hair done here please ask for samantha who is the one who did my fair the first time and the reason I came back. Now I won't be returning at all. I'm sorry read more

I had such a horrible experience here. The first time I went it was great and I thought this was my new salon forever. The second time, my hair was absolutely ruined. I left crying. They made an appointment the next day to fix it, but after thinking about it all night, I couldn't go back. I just couldn't trust that my hair would turn out ok. I saw a lot of people come in and leave with beautiful hair. I have a pixie cut - the color turned out horribly and the cut looked like a bowl cut. There were little bald spots all around the back of my head where she got the scissors too close. I had patches of gray everywhere. It looked like someone had drawn perfect circles and colored them in with a silver marker. The only reason I color my hair is to cover the gray. That's why I left my last person. I told them that a million times, but they still failed to cover the gray. After this debacle, the girl actually said to me, "so you don't want any gray hair?" I could NOT believe it. Luckily I found someone to repair it the next day, because I couldn't go out anywhere like that. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially for pixie cuts. read more

I recently stopped by this salon to get my hair cut. I hadn't gotten it cut in at least 8 months or so so it was pretty long when I came in. I knew I wanted to choose an Aveda concepts salon because their products are AMAZING (and they smell good too) and their staff is always friendly and welcoming so I figured this would be the case for this salon. They definitely didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was very ZEN and welcoming... (not so much with the chairs, they seemed to have had no cushion but that's ok because my hair stylist and hostess made up for that). As usual they offered tea or water upon arrival which I politely declined, not because I wasn't thirsty but more so because I was chewing gum, I eventually did try their Aveda tea which was pretty good, could've used a touch of honey but that's just me. In no time at all I met my hair stylist who I can't remember the name of for the life of me but was very friendly and welcoming. I told her exactly what I was looking for in a cut as well as stated that I was open for suggestions. Needless to say I was very happy with my haircut and the loss of all my split ends! Despite me being the last client of the day she was still very enthusiastic about her work and very talkative, which was fine with me. The only thing missing was their hand massages! All of the other Aveda salons I've ever been too offered complimentary hand massages at some point during the appointment, usually when the hair washing is being done. That probably didn't happen because again it was the end of the day and she was probably exhausted but that would've been nice. All in all my experience here was great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the area :) read more

Trish does an amazing job with my hair every time. Her haircuts take a little more time than the previous stylists I've had but it's worth the wait because she is a perfectionist. I trust her enough to let her cut my hair however she decides to because I know that no matter what she does it will look great. I have not tried any other stylist in the salon but I've never seen a client walk out with a bad cut or color. The salon is a tad bit pricey but to me it's worth paying a little more for the guarantee that you'll walk out feeling great. So unhappy with a cut and color I received a few days ago. I asked for brownish highlights with NO golden tones and received something completely different. I feel like I have four separate haircuts- the layers are extremely choppy and not blended at all. I called the day after to schedule an appointment to correct the color and cut and I still feel extremely uncomfortable wearing my hair down- it honestly looks like a mess. The stylist used some sort of wizardry when styling my hair because when I left the salon the first time I was not entirely satisfied but thought I could work with it. After styling it myself I realized the front layers are uneven and there are very short blonde layers throughout my hair that look very awkward and so out of place. I know "it's just hair" but this cut and color is affecting how I feel about myself. To not have the option of wearing your hair down after a fresh cut is disheartening. I have been going to this salon for a few years and have always been extremely satisfied with my results- not too sure what happened this time. I called the owner a few times and we have still yet to speak. Saving up money and then spending about $200 on something you are not satisfied with is quite irritating. read more

When it comes to me needing a haircut im terrified, i cant tell you how many bad haircuts ive gotten. Its amazing how many bad hair stylist are out there. THANK GOD i finally found someone that knows what they are doing. I got my hair cut by Sam. She did an amazing job. She really took the time to listen to my concerns and what i wanted. I always pay attention to the way a hair stylist cuts my hair because sometimes they grab your hair loosely and start chopping at the end or it feels like they are cutting with no direction. I felt confident with Sam cutting my hair because she sectioned off my hair evenly, she was constanly cross checking her work to make sure everything was even, you could feel she was a very experienced stylist in her hands, she grabbed my hair with expertise. Skeptical at first as it's tucked away in a soso strip center, but wow....immediately upon walking in, it had that familiar Aveda aroma (fantastic). It was small and very clean. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the very warm and friendly receptionist and a minute later introduced to my stylist Tracie who I immediately felt comfortable with. She explained everything she was doing and asked a lot of questions to make sure what I wanted would be accomplished. She had suggestions but was not pushy. She was funny and easy to talk to. My color and cut / style was beyond my expectations. I got so many compliments that day (even from other stylists working at the salon as I was leaving which was nice)!! I lucked out and ended up with an amazing and awesome hair stylist, Kelly. She does such a great job and is very helpful when you feel like mixing it but are unsure exactly what you want to do.
