I scheduled an appointment super last minute but they were able to accommodate me without any hesitation. First time coming here and didn't know what to expect, but it was a lovely salon and everyone was kind. To be honest I was a little nervous since I was cutting my hair more than I wanted to but needed to, the stylist-Dede was very easy to talk to, quickly understood what I wanted and it was so quick and perfect. I've been going to Cassie for several years now. All the stylists keep up on color and cut techniques by attending Paul Mitchell seminars regularly. This is a warm and inviting salon. I would use any of the stylists at Salon Salon. They are welcoming and I never feel rushed. Sometimes we have unrealistic expectations on how our hair will behave. In order to be seen at this Salon you must complete a entire survey and take pictures of yourself and submit them. On top of that you must pay a deposit before you even see a person. This place is wack and based on the pictures they have uploaded the before and after shots not much of a difference. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting professional job as well as service. read more

Now they're liars. Never did they once bring out color swatches for ANY of my visits. Which they should have done. Just goes to show how unprofessional they are and that they know what they should be doing but are too lazy to actually do it. Cindy did not offer to even fix my hair, she told me she thinks it would be a good idea to go to Cassie. Cassie never tried to make an appointment even a month or three months out. Nor did she suggest another hairstylist. They did not want to fix the problem they caused, but to be fair they lack the skills to fix it. I asked to go back to my red hair because Cindy had butchered my dark hair. Cindy did not do any form of "consultation" with me. All we did was I showed her a picture on my phone, she said she could do it, and then got to work. No suggestive pricing or color swatches. They completely gave me the wrong color and then had the other hairstylists gather around me trying to convince me with "oh this is your color" and forcing their unwanted opinions on me because of how obvious the color difference was. This wasn't what I wanted. I told them I didn't want it. I'm saying it now. And here they go trying to make up lies about their work procedures and ethics. Hope this is more proof of how they will gaslight you when you are unhappy with their work because they're cheap. read more

I gave her a 2nd chance to fix her mistake but she only giggled and proceeded to butcher my hair repeating the error. I went in today to get my hair dyed and cut. My hair was originally a medium brown and I got high lights of a lighter brown. Erika did an amazing job dying my hair and for a great price. I have never dyed my hair before and she was very informative and gave great suggestions on what to do with my hair. My hair looks great and feels great. Very friendly staff, I would highly recommend this salon. I didn't take any clear pictures of my hair before so sorry for the low quality pic and I have a picture of the end result. read more

Chose to go to Salon, Salon solely based on Yelp reviews and appreciated the owner's professional responses to the few lower reviews on here (Great reviews are awesome but for me it really says something about the character of the owner and the staff when they respond professionally and tactfully to less than stellar reviews. A common theme I saw in many other salon reviews around Bakersfield were catty and unprofessional responses to low reviews that made me not want to frequent those businesses). Anyway, off of my high horse and back to Salon Salon. I did have two mishaps where my appointments got lost in the system but both times the staff was apologetic and professional. I ended up getting Sabrina as my awesome stylist and she cut my hair at my first appointment keeping in mind what I wanted. I went in again a few weeks later to get my hair colored looking for a very natural highlighted look and she gave me exactly what I wanted! I would definitely recommend Sabrina and Salon Salon! I had traumatic experience way back when I was younger and never stepped in a salon for many many years. Lori made my visit a pleasant one. She was funny and always asked me what I wanted -which I find very sacred and important to me and I trusted her. The chemistry with the coworkers were positive with each other and they are educated with what they do. One stylist should be a psychiatrist because of her client telling her problems -they should charge extra for that emotional comfort. Lol They are good with kids and they prefer calling in for appointments and I believe they do a keratin treatment for 30 mins for $30. I will be back again! read more

I've been coming to see Alex for years, and am always so happy with the results!! She always manages to take my broad, sometimes confusing suggestions on what color I want my hair, and turns it into what I want (even better than what I could have imagined myself). I decided to try Salon Salon just based on the photographs on their Yelp page, and I'm absolutely ecstatic that I did. Erika dedicated a total of three hours to my cut and color, and the effects were gorgeous. I wanted what I would describe as ombre highlights and I had a picture of the effect I desired. Erika suggested an appropriate color and applied it in such a natural way, that the ombre effect is gradual. So, you do NOT get a chunk of lighter color at the tips that does not blend in at all with the color up top. She said quite aptly: "I want to make your hair look sun-kissed, and not just apply a chunk of color." With that much care and thought put into my hair, I was very happy with the results. Erika even saved my "formula," so she knows who to alter my color on my next visit. She also added lovely layers to lighten up the weight of my hair, and then gave me some styling tips at the end. Despite not having as many reviews as other salons, Salon Salon delivers impeccable service and certainly deserves more accolades than other salons that I have frequented. I strongly recommend Salon Salon for anyone looking for excellence hair service. read more

I went in for balayage by Alex. I was recommended to salon salon by a friend who had previously gone in for the same thing. However I assumed that I was booking with the same colorist but I was mistaken. Alex was pleasant attentive and made me feel like she was listening to me however her skills were lacking in the balayage department. Instead of painting on highlights she literally slapped the bleach on to thick strands of hair. Making me look like I got highlights that were poorly placed; they did not complement my face and most importantly the color was brassy. I understand that I have very dark hair and it would've taken several treatments to turn it to a beige -- however I know that now. I was never informed at the time that it would not have been attainable without several attempts. Instead she understood what I wanted and made me feel like I could attain that result with in one sitting. I don't dye my hair often and am often very impressionable and not to mention vulnerable. I take responsibility on not having done my research on the coloring process, but I thought I was going to a professional. I had trusted Alex's abilities to do this Balayage and unfortunately I was let down. However the salon is clean and the staff is friendly, prices are beyond reasonable. For that botched job I walked out the door paying 80 bucks however I would've rather spent the 300 I ended up paying and had it done right the first time. read more

I've never been asked to come in and have a consult about my hair color but it makes so much sense, because I didn't really know what I wanted. I was given a appt with Lori, who was awesome! She gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten. I showed her a picture and that's exactly how she cut it. We talked about what I want when it comes to color and going back in next week to have it done. She explained every product she used on my hair and why she used it. I asked if the products were available to purchase and was able to buy all of them so I can try and get same great results at home. We will see tomorrow when I try on my own:) read more
