After living in the area for over 15 years, I finally found a stylist and salon that is excellent in every way. Stacie cuts and highlights my hair. I'm going gray and trying to stay natural (light brown) at the same time. She is patient and listens carefully and the end result always exceeds my expectations. She is simply a lovely person and professional. The salon itself is bright, fresh, attractive and during COVID has maintained the highest standards. I was on the hunt for a stylist & decided on Salon Pure. walking in the vibe was great, the salon is modern, clean & well organized. each stylist has their own area that allows for plenty of room to work. booking was a bit difficult as I didn't really know what needed to be done to achieve the look I was going for but my stylist Carly helped me out once I arrived. I did a full foil, color, blow dry & cut. Although she wasn't able to do exactly what I wanted in the first session due to my hair being so dark, I was very happy with the outcome. My haircut on the other hand was done by her assistant & idk what she saw in the photo I showed her but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a picture from a 1980s magazine featuring Bonjovi or the hair do Miley Cyrus wore when accepting her Grammy for flowers. idk I'm still trying to figure it out!! I rebooked with Carly for 6 weeks out. I left without saying a word as I would never hurt someone's feelings. I was scheduled for today @11. I recieved a message 2 days ago asking if I could come in for 10. I responded yesterday with I would Try. At 10:17 the salon reached out. I responded at 10:43 saying I was running behind. I was then told she couldn't take me as my appointment was @10 & she had another client. I informed the person my app was @11 & I stated I would TRY for 10. They then went on to say they wanted to charge $390 for a missed app & none of that money goes toward my next service. Here's the lowdown!! Carly double booked & tried to get me in earlier due to timing Or she had another engagement. When I booked my service right after I got my hair done, she knew what I needed, so the excuse of me needing a bigger service therefore requiring more time is bull****. They then try to make me feel like it was my fault & try to get money out of me for a service they clearly couldnt provide because they said if I got there at 11 they can do a partial service. They wouldn't allow me to rebook unless I paid there "no show" fee. even though they were in contact with me before my appointment time which was 11. Also get your haircut at your own risk!!! I made my first appointment with Amber (based on her great reviews) to fix an uneven, layered haircut; I have thick hair and it really requires sectioning my hair before layering, which my previous stylist did not do. My consult went great with Amber and it was obvious she knew from training and experience exactly what it needed to be fixed. I have been growing my hair out for at least 2 years after years of bad layers and having it look unhealthy. I went in for a trim to clean up the ends and paid to see a 'Master Stylist' because of bad experiences with haircuts in the past. I have blonde straight hair- all I wanted was a trim. I ended up with LAYERS again - with easily 6 inches between the shortest and longest layer. That is exactly what I have spent years trying to undo! It also feels like she thinned out my hair. It doesn't feel thick and strong anymore. The ends are all different lengths- I am so disappointed and this will take years to get back to where I was. I assumed a 'Master Stylist' would be able to handle a trim. I emailed the salon about this and they didn't respond at all. The only reason I would give them 2 stars still is because I did get highlights there a couple weeks ago and that was a great experience. Which is why I went back. The atmosphere was nice and they are all friendly...but get your hair cut at your own risk... read more

I bought a dermaplane and LED light therapy treatment on Groupon. The staff was fine, neither friendly nor unfriendly. Christina was my esthetician. She spent a lot of time trying to sell me products and convince me to rebook before she was even done with the dermaplane. I felt her cut me at one point but didn't think much of it, assuming it was a small cut as she made no mention of it. Then she stuck me under the LED light for 20 minutes or so. When leaving she mentioned my forehead was a bit red due to my "sensitive skin". I got in the car and looked in the mirror to see my head sliced open (as pictured) and large spots on my face which were completely missed. I'm disappointed to say the least. I'm not one to write bad reviews but I genuinely feel like this place is dangerous and should be avoided. read more

I'm so glad I found Jenn here when I finally got annoyed at my grown out, crappy home dyed hair and made myself find a new hair stylist since I had just recently moved. She did a great job listening to what I wanted and now we have an easy maintenance color that I love. She also is very careful not to overcut my hair or give me something I can't work with. I also love the way they do keratin here. Doesn't bother my eyes and my hair is so happy. The only drawback really is the building location and parking can be a bit tight. And during the summer it can get quite warm in the salon even with the AC blasting but there are some things beyond their control. read more

Jen has been doing my hair for about 12 years. I used to live in Lowell and so it made sense, but now I still drive from Dedham (at least 45 minutes) to go see her. She has the best color and cutting skills and has done my hair from neon red streaks to my now all over dark brown to cover my grays. She's done my edgy angled bob to my now long wavy hair. She can interpret my unclear requests (she speaks my language). She never try to "upsell" me and will only do a new look after we talk about it thoroughly and she tells me what to expect for upkeep. Not only that, but she is sweet and funny and we always can find something to talk about. I will literally drive anywhere (to the ends of the Earth) to see Jen. She is literally the best! read more

I've been going to Salon Pure since March and really had high hopes both due to location and the fact I was referred by several friends. I value small local businesses to larger chains as I feel it's a more personal experience. Tonight, however, was my last visit as I don't think I've ever left a salon feeling so ripped off in my 21 years of getting a weekly blowout. I saw a senior stylist/owner in March to establish a relationship being new to the area. At that time, discussed needing a color and a haircut and what I would be looking for. At no time was I told a haircut is "free" with a color, just a simple answer to my question on how much a root touch up would be for my hair. I then returned a few weeks later for the haircut prior to a holiday weekend out of town. Again never told about the "free cut with coloring" making my appointment at the end of my first visit. Took off much more than discussed and my hair was clearly uneven in the back. My daughter is a hair dresser and pointed it out over the holiday weekend. Went back a few weeks later to get a blow out and requested when setting up the appointment a cleanup of the cut. I couldn't go back right away as I traveled out of town for Easter. Was charged for the blowout and at that time learned the cut would have been free if I had done the color while checking out and when I mentioned it, she just smiled. She did a decent job with the cleanup so I continued to go back for my blowouts as I felt the price was fair for an owner to do your blowout, she does a good job, I love the products and she does a fabulous shampoo with light head massage! I normally am charged $44 and I thought this was for the owner and never questioned it, though it does not match the price online when you book. Now, hears the kicker... Saw another "senior" stylist last month and paid $34 and she was able to blow out in 30 minutes. Did a good job and I walked out satisfied. Thought to myself, she is a great blow dry back up. Tonight saw the "junior stylist". She was pleasant enough but I was SHOCKED when I was charged $42 at the end of the visit. To the point where I did ask about pricing with this stylist I normally see. It did not look nearly as polished and professional as when I saw the two stylists and I had to ask her to use a difference brush half way as she kept getting it caught in my hair. Well, it seems the "extra" $10 I have paid this entire time is due to blow dries being only 30 min and anything over, an extra $10. Surprised! But doesn't reflect their prices online when you book. And to be honest, I have had highly skilled stylists blow out my hair in 30-35 min with no problems. But the pricing bait and switch has done it for me and so I don't be back. read more

I had been here a few times before and was very happy with the outcome, but I quickly came to realize that it was because the styles I was asking for were 'simple' compared to the amount of experience this salon has. The only reason I am saying this is because when I visited a different salon this past weekend, they told me I was given a horribly BOTCHED style. I went in for a hair cut at Salon Pure back in January and told the stylist that I was interested in getting an ombre or balayage a few weeks later. I asked her if she could do that and she told me to gather a few pictures on Pintrest and she would happily accommodate. She also acted very confident that she would be able to create the style so I trusted her. The hair cut that day came out fine, a little short and i was definitely upset about the fact that she cut my neck hair so short it wont go up in my pony tail, i figured it would grow in, but I still have those short hairs four months later. So the day came and I arrived with my Ipad to show her the pictures of the style I wanted. When she looked at them, she more or less told me that she couldn't do any of the things I was asking for. She then proceeded to grab her own phone and show me a picture she was thinking. Something way less lighter than I was asking for, but I did like the style so I told her if she could recreate that exact balayage look I would be happy. Then she did something I was very confused by, she washed my hair and dyed it wet. Now I am NO expert when it comes to coloring hair, but I was told by the hair dresser from a different salon that i visited this past weekend that is a first hand NO in the hair dressing world. The color does not absorb at all and believe me, shes not lying. After processing, she rinsed and shampooed my hair almost 5 times. (she actually took at least 30 minuets re rinsing my hair to the point where it hurt, did not really understand this process, the whole thing was honestly confusing ). When it was FINALLY dried and styled not only did the ends look NO DIFFERENT, there were terrible thick streaks going up the front and middle of my head, not only was this NOTHING like the picture of the style SHE recommended , it was by no means anything close to a ombre. Also at the end of the appointment she tried curling my hair to hide the horrible streaks. When i was brought to the counter, I ended up being charged WAY too much for a very confusing encounter. You also have to worry about this salon because they have no problems ripping you off with the services they offer. They include the haircut in the color service which I discovered AFTER the color appointment. I basically paid double the amount with no mention (once for my hair cut three weeks earlier and full for the color service that includes a free cut). She at least could have offered me a few free samples or a discount. Between the cut appointment and the color appointment with tip BOTH TIMES she probably got over $350 out of me. Not worth it for the service. This past weekend (3 months later) when I finally went in for a proper balyagae by a more experienced salon, the hair dresser looked at my hair and told me how chunky the die job was and that my whole hair cut was completely uneven.I thought I could let this go but I am beyond DISAPPOINTED with the service that I received at Salon Pure especially for the amount of money I have shelled over I can't help but feel ripped off. It was even worse when I had another stylist tell me how half-assed the work was. As a hair stylist do not act confident in your work if you are charging this much for a rushed appointment that you do not have the proper experience for, a real ombre/balayage takes paitence and almost 4 hours in a chair. If you are looking for a haircut or something simple, this may be an okay salon, I will give them the benefit of the doubt by saying this is my only bad experience thus far. But if you want something more chic and up to date do no rely on them for an ombre or professional hair cut, they will screw it up and overcharge you. read more

I LOVE this salon! I'm going to get my hair cut and straightened here at the end of the month but even when I called and went in for a consultation everyone there was beyond nice! I met with Tracy for my consultation and she explained the differences for the hair straightening to me and was 100% straight forward about it and her experiences herself with it as well as other clients. New clients even get 30% off any appointment (their first one). She not only worked with my schedule but also worked with me for my own hair type. The salon itself is as clean as it gets and bright and sunny. Prices are a lot cheaper than what I've seen in surrounding towns and salons. The prices for their products are lower as well. They have treats and coffee to drink while you're waiting. I'll update this when I get my hair cut and straightened. UPDATE: I got my hair straightened (the chemical straightening) here friday and i love it!!! it didn't take as long as I thought it might and now, i can get out of a shower and my hair is straight even without having to blow dry it! Jillian is the only hair dresser I have EVER had that I have seen more than twice. I'm very picky and Jill always walks me through what she is going to do and I have never been upset. I went in yesterday for a color and a cut and my hair is really difficult to color since it soaks up so quickly, but she picked an awesome color and it came out perfect. This cozy upstairs place has a nice, warm vibe that makes you feel at home. Free access to a remote, coffee, some munchies, comfy couches, and wifi will almost make you want to spend time waiting for your appointment. My salon experience was with Sandra (one of the owners). She did not fret when I pulled out a picture of a specific style I was going for. The haircut I received was a pleasant experience and in the end I was happy with how it turned out. It took me 3 years after moving to Chelmsford to finally leave my old stylist near Cape Cod and try someone new. I was very nervous to trust someone new with my hair especially for highlights because my hair is so fine. I went to Kim and it was one of the best choices I've made. She is phenomenal. She showed me how she would be using a different technique than my previous stylist and why this new technique allowed for the most natural looking highlights. I absolutely love my hair every time I see Kim and I honestly wish I had switched 3 years ago. The highlights have grown out more naturally and they don't look "over done" or like "streaks." For the past few years I have been seeing Kim at Salon Pure and she is fantastic! She always makes time for me, listens to exactly what I want and gives me helpful advice for caring for my thin hair at home. I was telling her that my twin 2 year old girls needed their first hair cuts and I was nervous about how they would tolerate it. She booked their appointments during a quiet time of the day so they would not be overwhelmed and was so gentle and kind to them and beyond patient! Carolyn transformed my hair! I had been growing out henna for two years using temporary color, which darkened my hair too much and turned permanent (did you know that could happen? I didn't). My mom gave me a groupon for an express keratin treatment here. My stylist was great and my keratin treatment was fantastic. They last about a month and that was the best hair month of my life. I also got an eyebrow wax which my stylist did perfectly. I like them very thin and a lot of stylists won't do them how I like for some reason. They also give you a discount on your first visit and give you a little welcome box which I thought was a great touch. I plan on saving up to get another keratin treatment here. The atmosphere of the salon was great too with an exposed brick wall and a smaller size, it was very cozy. The only problem for me is the price of their services which is a little up there. i wanted a curly perm showed pictures thought she knew exactly what i was imagining as i was very extremely specific almost every detail she assured me that it would come out curly from root to ends, as the perm dried it completely flopped it looked like someone crimped and half curled it. I don't think she left the solution on long enough only like 15 20 minutes and she combed the curls out right after which i just don't think you should do if your customer wants really tight curls that seems counterproductive? she said it could be my hair type or this or that, when my friend got her perm done by another hair salon she has the exact same hair type as me and hers came out perfect. very very disappointed with the service and lack of understanding i received after expressing my concern, offering no other options except for a leave in curl enhancing product??? the whole reason i wanted a perm is so i won't have to use products or diffusers or anymore tools just have it curly with no more hassle.I went to another salon and he told me she didn't let it saturate enough so it didn't take will be getting it fixed elsewhere. now I'm out $120 didn't even offer a refund or discount or anything after i returned for help, do not go here for professional service. UPDATE: then they called me and tryed to get me to take my honest review down after I asked for a full refund and they said there policy doesn't allow them too?!!! They have gave me a half assed apology over the phone it seems just to try and get me to take my review down. They only care about money not the customers it seems. read more

went to salon pure 4 the first time yest, since it was my first time I was a lil unsure of what 2 exspect, when I walked in the door my breath was taken away at the stunning atmosphere & comfort, while u relax in the comfortable leather seats u r offered coffee, soda, water & snacks : ) the hairdressers take such great care of you & they take such pride in making sure ur happy w ur haircut.....I am more than impressed w the way my hair came out.....I highly recommend SALON PURE......it's my new fav salon... read more

I called them telling them how i just wanted a simple hair cut and she asked if i was african american and instantly refereed me to another salon. she said "we cant help you." Very rudely, its incredible how in 2015 segregation still exists. read more

I went to Salon Pure in hopes that someone could "fix" an awful color stripping and re-color from another salon. I was delighted to have met Carolyn and I walked out of Salon Pure feeling like a new person! Carolyn explained what she could do, and I trusted her to do it. I was more than happy with the color correction and the cut that she did on my hair. She even said that I should wait for a more expensive treatment as it would not have worked out as well with the color correction. This is a salon that puts the customer's needs first and not their pocketbook! I could not be more happy with services received and the professional -Carolyn turned out to be. As someone whom has really lousy hair, she turned it around and made my hair look better than it has in years. I had the great pleasure of meeting Carolyn S., on my first visit to Salon Pure, very recently. She is Marvelous! I have thick, wavy hair, with monster cowlicks and a very low hairline. Challenging? You bet! I still have mental scars, from years of nightmarish overcuts, that took months to grow out. I am very timid, whenever I try a new stylist, but I must say that Carolyn heard my cautions and went to work on my locks, Pronto! For the first cut, we agreed she would mainly put some shape into my existing shag style. I loved it, when she took the razor to my hair. So gutsy for a first approach! Probably because of the welcoming and warm first impression she gave me, I felt I could trust her not to 'Scalp' me, yet again. Well folks, I am happy to report that I made a good decision, when I took that chance on trying something new. I was in good hands, with Carolyn.
