I had the Scalp Treatment on Friday. I had heard about it from a friend who showed me the photos of her before/after scalp. From the moment you walk into The Studios, you sense the calm, peace and friendliness. It is a cool space and a stylist who was waiting for a client made sure I was attended to (the receptionist was not on duty at the time). Chris greeted me on time. He was friendly, professional and had wonderful hands on and communication skills. I plan on getting this treatment/follow-up care a couple times a year. And, if I were looking for a new stylist, I would consider Chris or one of his collegues. read more

I'm really sad to be posting this review. I was a frequent flyer at blank canvas. When I had long hair there I had my services done there time and time again and it was lovely! I sometimes didn't achieve exactly the look I was going for but it was always beautiful regardless. Not to to long ago I shaved my head after allowing it to grow out a bit I decided some shaping and texture was definitely needed as well as my blonde color. I made an appointment for the salon and realize that my sitter had canceled and I would have to bring along two children with me. I texted the salon and let them know that both of my children would have to come and then I completely understand and would love if we could reschedule they told me it wouldn't be an issue and they will be somewhere for them to sit clients did it all the time. So reluctantly I brought the kids in and they were complete angels from the moment I walked in one of the hairdressers had said it was strange and she had never seen kids come along before. woman cutting my hair aggravated i asked her to help me style it because she "had another client to get to" What am I chop liver? I received several dirty looks and eye rolls from numerous employees. My children sat silently for two hours after two hours they got up and giggled for all of 2 minutes one of the hair dressers suggested they sit in the processing room because no one was in there so they did and you could hear them giggling but literally nothing major within seconds the shop owner came over and said "can you have your kids sit down with you they can't be jumping around this is a place of calm and quiet. She walked away before I could explain that her employee had suggested they go in there. It was so uncomfortable, loud and mom shaming. On top of all of this I asked for a champagne gold hair color and showed a photo of the color I wanted. (I've attached a before, after and expected photo of the color. The woman who did my hair was a complete doll and very very sweet I didn't want to upset her but just said that I felt my hair looked yellow. The shop owner said "your hair is gold there is no yellow in it" so I just said "ok" I had already been ridiculed and made to feel uncomfortable....it was just really awkward and I didn't advocate how I felt as much as I should have. Fast forward to the checkout and I was charged 300$. 300$ for my very short less than two inches hair to be shaped, bleached and toned. I paid less here for my long hair and it was obvious I was being upcharged for my "obnoxious behavior". I reluctantly paid because I didn't want to be further accused of causing a scene. I called the owner after explained to her how I felt and that I thought I paid way to much for my short of hair especially for it to not come out at all how I anticipated. She said she "didn't know what I wanted out of this" I explained I didn't think I should be charged so much "I'm not an owner who's going to give you what you want just because" like what?! I've never complained ever yikes! She said we agreed to disagree and offered to refund me 30$ for the toner. Yikes. We will see if that happens. Anyway, I told her I wanted to call her about it first and have a understanding convo and try to resolve it between us because things had always been lovely in the past. She wasn't willing to at all. Despite the thousands I had spent in there on my hair previously. Really felt lousy to have someone be so greedy they can't let go of a few hundred dollars for the integrity and decency of my experience.. oh oh AND she ended the phone call by saying "you're not a good fit for the salon going forward" OUCH. I never once raised my voice or cussed at this woman. I did act petty and refer to her as a "mean lady" when I explained to my son that we had to leave. I am so thrilled with the experience I had today at Blank Canvas. I was a client of another big salon in town, but open to trying something new, hence the call to Blank Canvas. I arrived to find a clean, beautiful, modern atmosphere. All of the staff were kind and friendly. I was looking to go from a light faded blonde balayage to a darker color. Maddie was my stylist. I made an appointment here by the request of a friend. The appointment was booked out a week as they were busy, no problem. I was called back several hours later as they wanted my credit card to keep on file.. Mind you I don't even know who these people are and they wanted my credit credit card. I went on the website as they stated it was a policy and nowhere on the website is it stated . I have no problem giving my information if I'm renting a beach house or a car but a $40 haircut? When I asked where the policy was posted, they said it was a new policy. Shady stuff here for sure. read more

I've been going to Sam for at least the past year now. I moved with her from the previous salon she was at because I just love when she colors my hair. I never leave disappointed. Prior to Sam coloring my hair I used box dye for a WHILE, it took a couple visits but Sam was able to get my hair right to where I want it to be. You can't expect to leave after one visit with your color where you want if you're going from a boxed dark violet to a beautiful balayage. I came into blank canvas today for a facial with sammie. This was my first ever facial and being a man I was very hesitant to ever get one, even though this is something I've been longing to do for years. Luckily sammies beauty room immediately put me at such ease that all the stresses of judgment and life instantly vanished. I could feel my problems slipping away with every gentle stroke of her hands massaging My face. Walking through the doors of Blank Canvas brought esthetic to a whole different level that I haven't seen before in New Hampshire. As the athomsphere and the looks of the salon may swing you into a realm of comfortabloty, being present with artists/ stylists who are youthful, vibrant, colorful, and creative. I am 21 years young and have been to several salons throughout the years and have always been drawn to places that stand out above the rest-- like this salon. Being a new client and going to Brady multiple times at the barbershop I have experienced encounters of unprofessionalism, judgment, and blame for canceling a appointment with a colorist when there was a urgent & alarming situation that I had to cancel my appotment with Danica. As Brady and I share the same age it is important to know that his ego is big and bright. Now... his craft and ability to structure/ style hair is insane and detailed he lacks professionalism and got caught up in the senerio of the cancellation that was taken place with colorist Danica and declining my business. As I now seek a new Barber I want it to be clearly stated that Brady needs to ease down and recognized he had no place to cancel our appointment in response to a previous cancelation with another stylist. When I brought this senerio to the attention of the owners they spoke with Brady and told me I could come back. When I saw that Brady had avalibility today- I was ready to get my monthly dose of a fresh start. After I was confirmed for 1pm for a full service haircut with a hot towel shave I instantatly got a message that Brady has no interest cutting my hair and stating that I need to find a new match. Brady showcases qualities that are very artistic and fun, but his ego gets in his head and dwells on situations that have nothing to do with him. Another observation I made was the atmosphere of these artists at this salon that talk negative about clients informt of customers like me. Sorry but If you are in the field of service it is disrespectful to talk about someone/ something else by interrupting a haircut sesssion to complain or talk about another client? That's Hippa being broken. Not only is that frowned upon you shouldn't be in the industry if you complain about a encounter, speech, or event regarding another client that paid for your service as the client is being worked on. This salon may or may not be for you-- as for me this salon brought negative energy and inhumane judgments from multiple workers and I will not be returning. The owners are aware of this situation and they could have done more and I hope these issues get addressed so another client doesn't have to go through this. I get told that i would be welcomed back and then when I booked a appointment it later canceled with a notification to find someone else- Is that customer service? Is this how you want your culture of your salon to have? I wish for the future of this salon to take control of who they hire, eliminate chit chat, filter out stylists who bring negativity to the salon. As for Brady, I hope you reflect and process your words and communication before sending a message after canceling a appointment that should have been worked out. I have always appreciated your work and admired it because you have talent but you still have so much to learn and need to know the practice of customer service. Learn to filter out personal opinions or beliefs and leave baggege at the door so you can continue your services without judgment because if you partake in chit chat it will hurt your brand name and business. If you are in the service industry you know that customer service is key-- you should know without clientele means less earnings for yourself and loosing any client has a impact on your wallet. Brady failed because he got involved in a situation that had nothing to do with him. As for the owners, one who reached out a couple of times has suggested barbers to seek-- you failed your own business and culture to allow these artists to have the space to behave unprofessional and talk about clients behind their back. Even if you rent spaces to artists it still impacts your business and brand name if you allow these mannerisms to continue. I preach so other customers don't have to deal with these situations and i would say to seek elsewhere and continue the search because most lack respect for clients paying for their business their shouldn't be bullying and judgement by any artist from all walks of life. So please respect all clients and keep chit chat distant and focus on your clients. If canceling an appointment due to death/ tragedy and not feeling safe to drive 45 minutes during a blizzard is breaking policies... then saying everyone's works their own booth makes no sense! read more

She did hair and makeup for my mom, my matron of honor and me (and did a few touches for my Jr. Bridesmaids, who were so excited!). Beautiful salon!! loved the vibes everyone seemed like they loved their job! BUT, I Got my hair done by *Lindsey* I was extremely disappointed on how it came out. Wanted a light ombré but she suggested a balayage even though my hair is super dark.. it completely ruined my hair. Completely dried out and frizzed my hair worse than I've ever expected. I've had highlights and ombré before but it never ruined my hair like this. I texted her the next day and asked if she could just throw a dark color over it again because I was not happy with the way it turned out.. She told me she had nothing available for at least a month to "fix" it. She did not make me feel re assured. I was at home crying and I'm tears because I was not happy with the way my hair came out.. I called the salon and THANKFULLY Kelly had a random opening due to a cancellation. THANK GOD she was available and I made an appointment with her a few hours later. She put a gorgeous dark color over he horrific balayage that didn't come out right. (mind you I spend 250$ on this hair color/cut that came out as the color of a copper) Kelly was amazing!!! she made me feel super comfortable and made my hair feel better & beautiful again. Although it's still dry from the processing From the "balayage" I can't be more thankful and appreciative for Kelly's immediate response to fix it!! I was so much happier when I left the salon. I could not believe the other hairdresser told me she couldn't fix it for weeks on end. I've never had a negative experience like that in any salon ever. I highly recommend Kelly, or one of the other girls for sure!! read more
