This shop is the best--I have been using them for many years (and travel more than 200 miles to do so). Not only do they do a terrific job with color and cuts, they are the nicest people. My gf and I decided to do a spa day together. She found Perez Day Spa for us. We rushed to get there on time for a 2 PM appointment but the receptionist acted nonchalantly telling us she didnt know when the masseuse would be ready for us. We sat down for 15-20 minutes past the appointment time wondering what absurdity this was going to be. We asked her again and she replied the same. Wow! That's great service for you! The masseuse finally showed up and she quickly whisked us into the spa area for the first appointment. I really liked that the masseuse specialized in deep tissue massage. She was strong and she made sure to focus on the areas I asked her to. She spent a good amount of time on my very tense neck I felt very relaxed afterwards. Decided to participate in the Spa Week promotion and get a massage since I haven't had one in some time. The only place available for 2 people was Perez since I invited Nicole L. to come with me. They were great on the phone and followed up with a reminder. However, as Nicole L. wrote on her review the front desk was a huge disappointment to say the least. The girl was not alert nor happy to help us. She seemed like she was in a daze or clueless when I asked her about my appointment. Then, she finally acknowledged me and my appointments. She didn't offer any drink or make us feel welcomed. Then we waited 15 minutes for the masseuse to come out from the back. I had asked how long the wait was going to be and the receptionist was literally like, "I don't know." Uh. Hello??? You are the receptionist, no? It was frustrating as hell. Claire, the masseuse was professional. She asked what I wanted to focus on and she got to work. She was great on the neck and shoulder areas which I needed. I would say that it was a good massage but I don't have a lot of experience with massages. I felt very relaxed and she did release my tension very well. I would go back to her but the atmosphere of the salon is a bit unfriendly and lacks some kind of energy that other top salons have. After years of searching, I have found my holy grail of highlighting at Perez Salon. After a particularly disastrous coloring experience at a Virginia salon, I sought out a friend whose hair I've always admired and she gave me the name of her "place out in Rockville" and told me to ask for Rick. My first visit was well worth the journey to the near-end of the Red Line: Rick was my kind of guy; I enjoyed his sense of humor and--most importantly--his blatant honesty. If you want a stylist who will coddle you and do exactly what you ask (for the 72nd time), I'm not sure that Rick's the one for you. If you want someone who will query you for several minutes to get an accurate picture of you and your lifestyle before even touching the shears or sending you to the shampoo bowl, Rick is a great fit. Rick goes well beyond the obligatory "How much time do you spend on your hair?" We're talking, what colors do you wear to work? How do you dress in your free time? Do you have any gray hair? If so, does that bother you? After a thorough dialogue, Rick gave me his 100% honest opinion (which I sincerely appreciated), followed by a fairly-drastic-but-necessary cut that I loved. Additionally, my highlights were beautiful and I received compliments for months. NOTE: I do not deliver these comments with the mindset of "I am the fairest in all the land," I'm just alluding to the times that friends, colleagues, and the occasional stranger make it a point to say nice things about the hair, brows, etc. For my return trip to Perez, I was paired up with Courtney who had assisted Rick with my last set of highlights. Courtney is a coloring genius. I have now seen her for about a year and every visit results in beautiful, vibrant highlights that not only last, but grow out nicely. I've gotten natural-looking blonde highlights and fall-appropriate low-lights with a gorgeous coppery shimmer. Courtney always has wonderful suggestions and I leave feeling satisfied and uplifted with my refreshed look. Now THAT is how a trip to the salon should make you feel! Granted, I'd like to be one of those responsible "every 8 weeks" clients, but my crazy schedule rarely allows. Still, Courtney works with me and always sends me on my way with a new lease on life. Glorious Colorist Courtney does not cut hair, so if I need time with the scissors, Rick is my guy. As a master stylist, Rick's cuts are on the pricier side, but he is a perfect example of "You get what you pay for." Additionally, I gave the Keratin treatment a whirl; while my naturally wavy hair didn't "take" the first time (there's always a head of hair that's the exception to the rule--lucky me!), I called Rick with my concerns and he was kind, understanding, and invited me back to the salon for a second round. This time, my hair turned out well and I enjoyed my sleek low-maintenance texture for several months. Ladies, if you're going to make the investment in your hair, Perez is the place to go for great color. For my fellow DC-dwellers, sure, it's a bit of a hike out there, but it's well worth your time to grab a newspaper, hit the Metro (let someone else drive versus battling the Rockville Pike traffic), and then walk the 2 blocks to the salon. I cannot say enough great things about Rick, Courtney, and the rest of the staff (I have shared many enjoyable conversations with Chris--who always has the latest, hippest look that I would totally steal if I was a dude). Way too expensive. I was spending $365.00 every 6 weeks on color--and felt like I was being bled dry. After a while I noticed everyone was saying the place was too expensive and over time there were fewer and fewer customers. Despite the high prices, the service also started to go down. In fact, one of the last straws for me was when I was told to blow dry my own hair! I thought THIS is what I'm paying for? I paid and walked out with wet hair... I finally stopped going and found a salon that cost less and did a better job. read more

I have been going to this hair salon for over three years now and had stayed through two of my hair dressers moving on but I have since decided to no longer go to this salon. The people at the front desk were the reason for why I decided to leave. They can not keep appointment schedules correct. There has been many a time that I leave the salon with a written appointment time and they call and confirm before your appointment but when you show up they have you scheduled for a different time. This happened to me today and just confirmed that I really do not want to go to this salon anymore. I had called and made an appointment for a specific time and person at the salon since my other hair dresser ended up leaving, which they would of never called to tell me because they didn't even have me down for the day I was to see the person that left because as the front desk person put it on the phone they blocked out her schedule. Anyway, they called on Monday and confirmed with me that I am going to be seen with the person that I made my appointmet with but when I get to the salon they had me scheduled with someone that for one thing they did not say I would be having my appointment with nor did they once call to say that their schedule had changed and I will be seen with another hair dresser. The front desk peoples excuse in the past for these mix ups is that they are a big salon and this stuff will happen. I understand it happening once and a while but honestly it happens a lot more than it should. So, I am off to try Kindle and Boom and hope that I like it. read more

i went to perez salon today for a facial, manicure and pedicure. the pedicure was so fast i dont think any of the cuticle was removed and as for the facial, the lady who did it compeletly lacked a personal touch and rushed through it, i did not feel refreshed or relaxed at all. can anyone out there recommend a better salon, i spent $170 for nothing! read more
