Initially I went to the front door where the big sign is and it was locked so I called Marcela. The salon is in Suite #202 towards the left end of the building. There is a note to call or text your service provider upon arrival. When I entered, Marcela was waiting for me at the front desk. Marcela was so friendly and personable. We talked about just about everything and it made the time go by fast. She assessed my hair and suggested an Olaplex conditioning treatment for an additional $30. I always thought my hair was coarse, but she informed me that my hair is fine, but frizzy. I used to have thick hair, but it has thinned out dramatically over the years. She asked how many inches I wanted cut off and what style. Previously I had long layers and it was in a v shape. My hair is so fine that the ends looked stringy and sparse. I never look at the back of my head so didn't know how bad my hair looked until a photo was taken a few months ago. We decided that I should do only slight layers. I had about three inches cut off. After my cut, Marcela blow dried my hair and flat ironed it for an additional $10. She informed me that a regular haircut is $45. She also suggested a Keratin treatment for $240 as that would last for about 3-6 months and I wouldn't need to flat iron my hair everyday, which is damaging my hair from all the heat. I have heard mixed reviews about the Keratin treatment so decided to book an appt for next month and in the meantime research to see if there are any side effects from the formaldehyde, which is often in them. It will be worth every dollar to have straight and silky hair for a few months. Very happy to have a new dependable stylist. My hair was so silky and sleek. I was ready for date night.

I was desperate for a touch up and had a teeny tiny budget (if I had a bigger one, I would have gone to Grazia at The Shop). At any rate, my gamble paid off. Rick is another true artist with hair and I always come out looking amazing (well, to the best of his or any human's ability without actual plastic)! He is upfront about what he plans on doing, as well as the cost. He also tries to work with you if you are a good client who is "financially challenged." Granted, one should never take advantage of anyone's kindness, and I have a strict rule that my parents taught me when I was young which is: "If you can't afford to provide a decent tip (as in 18-20% or more), you can't afford to have the service!" I always try to tip on the "rack rate" if the rate seems less than usual. I appreciate the fact that he is honest and upfront about his services and cost as it helps me budget for something I may want later but can't afford now. Rick also seems to have his little client family, which I really appreciate. It shows how much he really cares about and respects his clients. Since, this salon was just renovated everything's brand new. I like the open air and modern concept. I am now familiar with the parking and directions to get to the building. It was a little tricky at first. But, my favorite part of the salon is my stylist, DK. He is an expert professional and does a precise job with cutting and styling my hair. I love the way my hair looks, feels, and it is really easy to take care of. So, beautiful new salon, my favorite stylist-DK, ... I will see you again in 4 weeks. She is an excellent professional, and I always get the results I want for both cut and color. Salon Plaza allows each professional to have their own, private space. There is covered parking across the street right in front or a big outdoor lot, clean restrooms, and vending machines.
