I go here to get my nails done by AJ. She is phenomenal at nail art and always has cute charms and very open to new and unique ideas. She is also a great person to talk to and very pleasant. Her nails are worth every penny! I unfortunately would not recommend getting your hair done here though. They are not familiar with bleaching + dying Asian hair. My hair did not lift properly and was very brassy. I had to get it fixed when I went to Japan months later and had everything redone for less than half the price as well. read more

I have been in 3 times now and would highly recommend certain stylists. I got highlights and hair cut from Sarah M and love her! I have also gotten a trim and blowout from Jay and love her too! I'd definitely highly recommend them both!!! I took one star off bc every time I've been in there have been other stylists (not Sarah or Jay) talking loudly to other stylists and clients about their love for trump showing dumb fake things on twitter to clients. This is not a comfortable relaxing environment for me at all. I'm a new mom with precious free time for any kind of self care and don't want to spend my limited free time trapped in a chair listening to this garbage. It would be one thing if it's clients but have heard it from 2 different stylists. I hope the owners think about how to keep this a comfortable and relaxing space for ALL clients. read more

I do not like leaving negative comments. I called not knowing any of the stylists and told them I have short hair and I need an experienced person that knew razor cuts. I went into this salon and was impressed by the looks. It was up-to-date and it makes you feel like you want to feel when you walk into a salon. The person they gave me not look like they fit into the salon but I had an open mind and sat down in the chair. She told me she was very familiar with Pixie cuts and I trusted this. I understand razor cuts are not even... I have had these cuts for years...But my hair was chopped in certain spots; not others and I left feeling pretty down. I did not say anything right then and there because she was very happy with the work she did and it's just hair and it grows but... This situation coupled with listening to her problems, I don't think I will go back to this place. I'm sure the other stylist there are fabulous, but if you call a salon not knowing any of the stylist and you ask for something specific, I really wish they would've given me the correct person that could take care of me and if there was no one there that knew how to do the service I was asking they should have been honest and told me they didn't have anybody. The likelihood of me coming back is not very good. read more

Update: It's now been a month since i've gotten my hair done and i've noticed how damaged my hair has been feeling. I've dyed my hair A LOT and my hairs never felt this frizzy or dry after getting it colored. It makes me so upset especially for the price I paid. I also straightened my hair after a while and noticed how uneven and awful my haircut looks. :( I miss my hair!! At this point I regret even giving this place a chance. Always do your research before just booking anywhere. I had to learn the hard way. read more

I do not recommend this salon. I was the customer with the same appointment as Ryanne C. and I wish it had been my appointment that didn't exist. Sorry for the long review but I wish I had been more careful reading reviews before I chose this salon. That said...I will note that the Rachel L. review here on Yelp was written by my "stylist", an employee of the salon. I met with Rachel a week earlier for a consultation. I explained that I wanted to lighten my hair so the grey that was starting to come in would blend better. I also showed her a photo of the haircut I wanted. The day of the appointment Rachel seemed distracted and confused. She was already running behind but decided to cut some of my long hair off in order to use less dye. The problem was that she took a long time doing that and then coloring and finishing the cut became a rush later on. I'm not really sure what she put on my hair but after 40 minutes she was rinsing it and said it didn't work and put more chemical on my hair and left my head hanging in the sink bowl for 10 more minutes. When we returned to the chair she made a quiet comment that it was darker than I wanted but "don't hate her". She then rushed through a hair cut that looked nothing like the photo. I left with what looked like a dirty greyish-purple straw nest on my head. She had already moved on to her next client and I was embarrassed and not sure what to do. ( I am an introvert and I normally avoid confrontations) I got home and washed my hair several times and found a 6" piece of hair hanging below the cut. I went back at 9AM the next day (advertised as opening time). The salon did not actually unlock the doors until 9:40am. I went in and asked for Rachel and was told by the receptionist that she was not there. I asked for a Manager and was told the same. I asked for a return call to discuss what had happened and how it could be fixed. 3 hours later...no call. I called and the receptionist told me she had not had time to tell Rachel or the Manager that I needed to speak with them. I asked when she would have time and she said she would try. About an hour later the receptionist called back and said Rachel told her to tell me "I got what I wanted and there are no refunds". Again, I asked for a Manager and was told she was not available. At this point I understandably lost my sh** and threatened a bad online review and a report to the BBB. I got a call back...again from the receptionist about 15 minutes later...who told me she could put me on the schedule in 2 weeks to see Rachel to fix it at no charge. The next day, an owner called me. He immediately bullied me and said it was all my fault because I didn't want to bleach my hair. He also said it was my fault for not saying something before I left. He was mad that I was rude to the receptionist and I pointed out that if Rachel or the Manager had called me to discuss then there would have been no reason to get rude. (I did apologize to the receptionist the last time I spoke to her). I told him it was bad form to let the receptionist deal with this. He told me that it was her job. The discussion continued via text message because he insisted he had photos of me after the color and cut. I also texted him the selfie I took in the car when I left. He refused to even acknowledge my disappointment or the bad haircut and insisted that I got what I wanted and that he would always stand by his stylists. That says it all right there. You are nothing but a wallet to this business. It is only about money and how many people they can schedule in a day. A simple solution would have been to call me back the first time and talk through it. We might have been able to figure it out without all the drama. This was an expensive lesson for me and I can only hope that this review will save others from making the same mistake I did. (Btw...I did not go back to get the color fixed and I cut the 6" piece of hair off myself.) read more

I have waited a few days before writing this review...I didn't want my anger to influence my comments. Normally, it can take 2-3 hours for highlights/lowlights and trim, this time it was 6.5 hours. I want to state this is not a blanket review of the overall Salon On Point staff. I chose Lacey at Salon On Point, because I read a few good reviews. She told me she was slow, but I had no idea she worked at a snails pace. I arrived at 2:00 and left the salon at 8:15. Here's why... I have very blonde hair (well I did before this Appt) and really only needed lowlights, but a few highlights around the face was discussed. She started foiling at the back of my neck. It took her over an hour to get to the crown...where she needed to mix more product. I asked her if the top would be as blonde as the back/lower section. Oh yes, she added a high percentage of developer. Now almost two hours later she takes me to the shampoo station...then tells me she's going to use a Gloss for extra shine. Ok, but my hair was very healthy and I'd never gotten a gloss before. She puts it on, then tells me she has a male hair cut and will be back. One hour later she comes back...after washing, my hair had turn Violet. She had added not only violet, but ash to the gloss. ??? She said, no worries I can do it again...which she did and left it on for 15 minutes. After this shampoo she said she wanted to give my hair a protein treatment. ?? Why? She said for overall hair health and to cut down on frizz. I don't have frizzy hair! I sat under the dryer for about 25 minutes. By the time I got back in her chair it was 7:30. My hair was dark brown, grey AND violet. She said oh, it will lighten up after I dry it...not happening...oh, it will look better in the daylight! She still had not given a trim, but after getting a crappy color job, there was no way I was letting her give me a crappy cut. She had the nerve to suggest there was no charge!! Hahaha as if! It was 8:15 when I left. Thank God for Celine Arnold at Heather's Salon in VA Beach! She did a phenomenal job!! She was able to wash with clarifying shampoo, treat my severely damage hair and use another treatment to blend my color to where it's presentable. Since there was highlights under the violet/grey/dark brown, they were starting to shine through. The cut is great too! My hair will continue to get brighter, however, it will be months before I will be my normal blonde again. Lacey at Salon On Point is horrible and I would never recommend her! read more

I have been to this salon twice already and they do a decent job. This time I scheduled for a hair cut and blow out at 12:45. I walk in and they say that there isn't an appointment for me. I explain who I am scheduled with and the voicemail I received confirming that I could have a 12:45 appointment. They never wrote down my appointment and I have senior portraits in an hour. If u are coming to this salon make sure u confirm 2-3 times that they have your appointment. read more

I have mixed reviews because I've seen two people. I HATE to give a negative review. I have though for a while before leaving this comment. Over a yet ago I saw Lauren H. She was finally my hair person in Virginia! It was my perfect cut. I have long dark brown fine thick hair. She trimmed any dead ends, shaped my face, cut beautiful layers that lifted weight out of my hair. Five stars. Amazing!!! Next about two weeks ago I saw Jamie M because Lauren was on leave. I was Leary but I had gained trust in the salon via Lauren. She was incredibly sweet but didn't talk as much as the usual stylists. She needed me to stand to handle the first cut of my long (shoulder length) hair. Ok no biggie but should have considered this a lesser experienced request. She gave me fantastic side bangs but it all went downhill from here. My layers are epically horrible. My hair poofs like a big triangle. I have no blending to the layers. I did ask her to add some more in once she was initially done but that was to blend the three lines of layers in my hair she added. I wanted my hair to grow a few inches till spring and then donate, now I need to cut as soon as Lauren returns to solve it. Ugh I fight with it daily. It even looks odd in s ponytail there are a few sprigs that stick below the rest. I'm so disappointed I will be sticking with Lauren or find a way to ask for someone she trusts. I am so disappointed and nearly cry when trying to style through the chopped unblemished poofy layers. read more

One of the worst haircuts I have ever received. My hair was uneven, not layered properly and not at all the haircut I asked for. I'm hoping she was just having a rough week. In her defense I did not call to voice my disappointment. I DID NOT want her going near my hair again and I know the "solution" was going to be her trying to fix it and in turn chopping even more hair off. She was also 15 minutes late. Ive been to two different people there and will not be going there to try a third. The Solon looks very upscale, so my expectations were that I was going to receive and upscale experience. The only thing I got was an awful haircut. I wish I could upload pictures. read more
