I had my hair cut by this place today along with my mom. We both came out looking fantastic and we will continue to go here from now on.

Abby just massacred my eyebrows. I'm really embarrassed! After she got wax in my bangs, she got a clip to keep the bangs out of her way. I did not enjoy the reactionary approach I've gotten two haircuts by two different stylists they both screwed my bangs up. One of the haircuts was before a job interview. That was a confidence booster. The lack of basic skills at this salon makes me really suspect. Avoid! read more

New in town, I was looking for a stylist who could help me work out how to color my hair (I'm getting grays, so I've gotta do something, but what??), and a salon where I would feel comfortable -- I hate those snooty, "You're not cool enough to be here" attitudes that I've run into at some Aveda establishments. I'm happy to report that that is definitely not the case at Salon Mode! They are quick to answer the phone and booking an appointment is not an exercise in feeling inferior. I've seen Courtney for a cut and color twice, and I've been welcomed by the reception desk and offered a drink, and she seems to run on time -- no sitting up front for 20 minutes with a magazine, wondering if my stylist has somehow gotten lost. For both cut and color, Courtney has been great. I've brought her some pictures, but she has really helped me understand what can and can't be done color-wise, and has also helped me embrace my curly hair, making it lower maintenance! While it's a little tedious to spend so much time waiting for color to set, Courtney always makes sure I've got a couple of magazines. And the scalp and hand massage during the shampoo is divine! Product-wise, she asks me what I've been using and suggests a few things that she uses on my hair, but there's no hardcore sales pitch. The boyfriend has started seeing her as well, and I've just referred a friend to Courtney too. Sooo, do I get a free haircut or something? In short, I don't know about other services here (nails in particular seem pretty pricey), but I'll definitely keep coming to Salon Mode for my hair. I have been getting my haircut here since 2004 and it has always been nothing shy of great. With the new ownership coming in, there is no communication of price increase, no greetings anymore when you come in, and just a coldness that shouldn't be in a salon like this. Especially for a kids cut, a 6 year old at that, who had his first haircut at Salon Mode, would increase to $25 lol. This is the Fox Valley, who are you trying to fool? read more

My 15 and 9 yr old daughters needed a special day for themselves. I took them to Salon Mode and boy did they get the princess treatment. My 15 yr old got her first perm ever from stylist Erika. My 9 yr old received her first hair coloring ever from stylist Ms.Pakou. When they were done I got a smile from both of my girls that melted this fathers heart. The ladies there were very professional and more importantly so friendly to my girls. They perhaps had the best day of their lives. It was simply awesome fun. The ladies made it a special day for my girls and for me. I definitely will take them back there time and time again! read more

The received a hair cut by one of the master stylist. She was super friendly however did a terrible job on my hair. She promised a long inverted bob. My hair was neither. A month later I went to a different salon and the lady asked who cut my hair and then showed me that my hair was uneven across the back and that it was an inch longer on one side than the other. I e-mailed salon mode about my visit. They did no respond back. I am very upset with the lack of compassion for their customers. read more

I came off the street without an appointment and they squeezed me in for a 2 hour manicure and pedicure. Worth the time and money for a very pleasurable experience. Hailey my manicurist and host was extremely pleasant and was always checking with me if I was satisfied with the service throughout. I will make Salon Mode my place to be on a monthly basis. Have already made my appointment for June. It's the best salon I have been to yet. A+ in my book. A man that is hard to please! This is No 5 star salon..wouldn't give it one.. Attempted to have color, hair extensions and cut...$250 for the service.. was charged full price for a rushed cut that wasn't done right so I went back and asked another stylist to fix it... What a joke..the way I was treated for coming back was ridiculous!!! I'm going to have to have my hair completely done over.. after already losing 3 inches of my long hair that only needed minor trimming.. They completely ruined it... They should find a lower rent building and concentrate on properly training their "stylists".... read more

I just had an Aveda stylist at Salon Mode tell me my hair cut was "awful" - she gave me the hair cut by the way. She objected to the way I styled my hair. The insults were so numerous I cannot keep them sorted out right now but basically, I am unable to style my own hair, I cannot have longer hair (I mess that up too, I guess). The real kicker was when she told me she wanted to give me what was basically a man's hair cut, very short back and sides and a little bit of hair left on top which she planned to thin. I was somehow supposed to create "tousled curls" on the top of my hair with the little bit of hair I would be allowed to keep and yes, that does sound disgusting. I said I could not wear my hair that way and she told me I was "resistant to change" and "not ready for her help". I gather I was supposed to get a ghastly hair cut just because it made a hair stylist happy. I skipped the nasty hair cut and am looking for another salon. I used Salon Mode's email address to cancel my next appointment (ever get so mad it's difficult to speak??). I included my own email address, have not heard anything back so evidently customer service/customer satisfaction is not much of a priority. read more

I had a very good experience at Salon Mode. My stylist listened to what I wanted; even though I changed my mind a few times, she worked with me and I came out with a great hair cut! And I was given a head and hand massage while my hair was being washed. A definite plus! read more

My husband and I had couple's massages here recently and we were very impressed. Both of our massages were incredibly relaxing (definitely the best massage I've ever had). The only downfall was that they were late with starting our appointment and the massage time seemed to be cut a bit short as well; we had booked for hour long massages and were done after about 50 minutes. At my Aug appointment I bought several products and was charged twice for a $40 shampoo. I contacted the salon the next day to report the over-charge and left my address for the check to be mailed promptly. After many days and no check I called again; someone finally returned my call and told me the owner had to wait until my check cleared to issue my money. I checked with my bank immediately and found that my check had cleared within a week. I waited another 10 days-no check-and contacted the salon again. The person that spoke with me called the owner and got back to me with yet another "story"; that she had sent a check and would stop payment and send another one". I had an appointment last week, Sept 18th, 5 weeks later, which I did not keep under the circumstances. When the salon called to remind me of my appointment I could not believe it and said " Are you kidding me"! The owner is so callous and unprofessional! She more than likely planned to give a credit in lieu of promptly sending back my overpayment! If she was a reputable business owner she would have immediately apologized and mailed the overpayment promptly along with a gift certificate of equal amount for the inconvenience. After much patience, it has been 7 WEEKS now. I will be taking further action but wanted everyone to know THIS SALON IS NOT A REPUTABLE, CREDIBLE BUSINESS. PAYING BACK $40 OWED TO A CLIENT SHOULD NOT HAVE TURNED INTO WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT OUTCOME. THE CHOICE TO NOT HANDLE THIS ISSUE ADVENTAGEOUSLY SHOWS WHAT ONE IS DEALING WITH!! read more
