Just went in for the first time today around lunch and it was a great experience…read more I walked in and was immediately greeted by one of the barbers speaking Cantonese "zin tao faat?" (which means "haircut?"). I replied yes, put my jacket on the clothing rack, and was seated by another barber (Kelly) right away. I showed Kelly a picture of the way I wanted my cut, and she put in a lot of great effort to make sure it was cut meticulously. I enjoyed the process and mostly just sat back and relaxed while she worked on my hair. At the end of the session, she made sure to ask if I would like the cut styled more (without any extra charge) using some gel or wax (I chose the gel). She also showed me the back of my head to see the new fade using a hand mirror, and it came out looking proper. The haircut was $20 (plus tips) and took around 30 mins. When I found Todd and Helen...I was in my twenties and my hair was breaking and crap...the staff there fixed it and made it healthy again. That's going back over 20 years ago! When's the owner sold the place and moved down south.... The staff migrated out to Oakwood and I followed. I have since moved out of state and have had alot of bad experiences. I was basically told it was my hair ...and my hair was breaking at an alarming rate. The color was terrible too...being so many places passed the blame on my "difficult" hair...I almost believed it lol I decided to try one more thing....I searched for the old staff at the second place and found the salon closed because the owner passed away and had to do some searching to find them again. Happily..I found out nece recently bought this place not too far away. She's a new salon owner! I have known her since she was practically a kid ;) No lie and Quite literally..I drove to nyc (five hours) and in a last ditch effort, got it done by my old hairdresser. Melissa...who I have known since she was a shampoo girl ;) it's like walking back in time as far as my hair. Literally. It will take time to restore the color... And what's broken must grow...but my hair feels soo much better and not even a little breakage...none. You can tell the root area is very very different as far as health and there is so much promise. I wish I could package these people up... Suzana strongly urged (almost forced) us each to leave $100 deposit so, fine, we did. Unfortunately, we had a death in the family two days prior to our appointment. When we called to cancel because we no longer were going to attend the wedding (as the funeral was now that Saturday), she accused us of being liars , was rude and disrespectful over the phone. She told us that we needed to come in person and to prove that we had a death because so many people are liars. We even offered to use that deposit for another appointment and she said no! We live in Brooklyn and it's an inconvenience to go to Staten Island just to show her "proof." My mother-in-law, who lives near the salon, went to speak to her on our behalf and please reconsider and Suzana was rude and brushed her off and said "I don't give back deposits" unless we came there ourselves and proved we haven't done our hair and makeup elsewhere. So of course we drove there and showed her the obituary and she simply said "I don't care, I don't care" and threw the money onto the counter and walked away . She is rude and disrespectful!!! For the last 20 years I have been a light blonde with a full head of highlights. I got sick for over a month and then had an accident and fractured 2 of my vertebrae so my gray hair was really horrible. I asked the owner if she could make my hair blonde all over but I wanted to not do highlights at that moment. She said sure see the blonde towards the middle to ends especially I can make you all blonde and get rid of all the grey. My husband was with me and asked for the price with a haircut. She quoted $50 fir for haircut and just roots was $50 and entire head of hair dyed would be $90 plus the haircut. I kind of felt that was a bit cheaper than I expected and reiterated that I would have all blonde hair as I had just get rid of the 3 inches of gray roots. She said absolutely. I made an appointment with her for a few days later. I went to the appointment and again made sure she understood that I wanted all blonde hair but no highlights this time. Highlights can be tricky and I needed to see her base work first. She put on the haircolor throughout my hair and I just waited to get washed out and have my hair cut. After she washed my hair and put a towel on my hair I sat in her chair and she removed the towel. I was Aghast! My hair looked brown o my god! She assured me that it was wet and when she blew it out it would be much lighter. She gave me a great haircut but as it was blown out dry I had light brown hair. She reassured me to give it time and my hair would lighten up a lot. My husband came back and liked the cut a lot but asked me why my hair was so dark and not blonde. He was also reassured that it was going to get lighter as I washed my hair. I was NOT HAPPY but I was pleased that the grey was gone. I must have been in shock because I didn't carry on about the color as I should have and let my husband pay her $155 cash plus I even paid her a 25.00 tip. I'm not one to start making a fuss and carry on in a place of business. Before I left I said It's not blonde and I received the same answer again. I should give it time to lighten up. It must have been the pain radiating from my fractured vertebrae I just wanted to go home and rest in my bed. Everyone that saw me after my botch hair appointment asked me why I made my hair dark. It never lightened up(how stupid was I)? I went back to talk to her a few weeks later because she said give it time. She blatantly lied to me about what she promised and had told me. She asked what I wanted her to do and I said give me some money back for color correction charges which I now have to have. She replied that I waited to long and she wasn't going to do anything. I was angry but she had another client in the store and it's not me to carry on in public. I cry every time I look in the mirror at my brown/reddish hair and just want to shave my head bald. STAY far away from this shop and young owner if you need your hair dyed. Don't be victimized by her lies. I'll never know why I went into that empty shop but I can prevent someone else.

My previous hairdresser always got the outside layer longer than the inside to cover my curl hairs. However, most ordinary hairdresser only know the opposite because it works better for soft and thin hairs. The owner belongs to the latter ones. He didn't know how to construct structures through layers, neither could he make what I want. All he could do is cutting. All three stars go to the lady who washed my hair. She gave me a very good massage.
