What a lively sparkling place full of wonderful employees. Lots of different colors to choose from for my manicure. The technician was very well versed and up-to-date with her nail polishes and did a great job. She used this product called buttercream for my nails and it looked like she was putting frosting on them. The color is a wonderful light purple. I absolutely loved this place right from the start! My mom and I went in for a wash and style. As we walked in we were greeted by the friendly receptionist who offered us something to drink. Kayla washed and blow dried my hair. She gives a great scalp massage and it was so relaxing being in her chair. There's not much more to say than that -- I know my hair is a challenge -- I'm allergic to just about every brand of "product" out there, so stylists are pretty limited when I walk in the door. And I inherited my Welsh ancestor's hair -- it was like a lion's mane when I was a girl -- then started getting thinner and finer at about 30 -- still got my silver temples, but the rest is getting progressively more gray and is approaching transparency. And having watched my mother try dying her same hair -- I know that's out. I'm just stuck with floss -- and a puzzle for even the best stylists. Ellen, at Salon Ethos, does an admirable job -- facing the challenge boldly and fearlessly.... So I basically end up with Bill Clinton's haircut -- which is acceptable. I think this salon is much more focused to hair not nails and feet. I think manicures and pedicures are a bit of an after thought. With that being said.....The girls who did our pedicures were very nice! The salon is clean and very open. And my pedi was nicely done. Why I gave them a "3" is really because they are really low tech. So no massage chairs for pedicures, no tools i.e. A buffer that can polish your nails that is powered... and if you wish to have your heel callus removed it is "extra" and no idea what they do.... but I am not so sure anyone else in town really does more... read more

I came in for a mani and pedi. The girl who did my nails was just fine. However, the pedicure room set up was terrible. The seats and the little tubs were not comfortable to sit and soak your feet. When the nail tech attempted to work on my feet the set up did not work for the service. It was so uncomfortable to hold my feet up, the cover on the tub moved constantly, the nail tech had to balance the light that cured the gel polish on her knee. It was so uncomfortable that I opted out of the massage and only got paint. Because of the not optimal set up, she accidentally cut my toe badly (still hurts 3 days later) I can't imagine anyone returning for a second pedicure. read more

Favorite hair cut ever! This review is long overdo. My husband and I were on an RV run from California to Oregon after my mom passed in 2014. We stopped near Newport so my husband could golf. I was in need of a lift and made an appointment with Liz. She consulted with me about my hair and life style. I realized right away that she knew what she was doing and put my trust in her. The cut reflected me as much as it did her precision, expertise and creativity! This was and still is the best cut I have ever had and I'm no spring chicken! If only I lived near by I would see her today!!! I know it's just hair but this cut, the staff and the heartfelt conversation was just the lift I needed. Who knew a haircut could do all that! I went into the salon today excited and ready to have a change for my hair . My stylist was rushed to finish her other client and didn't really talk to me for the first hour or so . I initially thought about doing an ombré from medium brown to blonde but my hair wouldn't lighten much . She did a large test strand which turned it red. ( yikes ) so I just settled on a root touch up. I also have a platinum blonde peek a boo on the underneath part of my hair. I've always struggled to get my hair from black to a medium- dark brown which I loved so much and which I had before my appointment . When we went to touch up my roots , the color I guess wouldn't take . It looked exactly the same and my roots were awful looking still. I said we could do semi chocolate brown color on the top to max the bottom better and said I didn't want my peek a boo to be touched at all other than for her to bleach the roots of the blonde part . The stylists put black dye in my hair . My stomach dropped . I really didn't want it to be dark at all. I worked so hard to lighten it while keeping it healthy . While rinsing the black dye out , it stained my peek a boo a purple / blonde color . I was devastated . Another client then came and again was kind of put off to do my own thing while she started her other client . I understand though that time management can be hard and clients can be picky so I'm not complaining too much about that . The manager came to help me , she was nice and started trying to strip my horrible stained blonde piece . At this point I've been there for over 5 hours and was late to pick up my baby. I'm a new mom and this was one of the first " me time " things I've been able to do since he was born. It was an awful experience and made me regret even taking time to myself in the first place . The manager is trying her best to strip my once perfect blonde piece and the end result is a dirty dish water blonde color slightly stained with strands of black and some purple / blue . I can't have colored hair like that at work . I'm so embarrassed to go to work tomorrow . I didn't have time to stay to have it blow dried , so I left with wet hair then realized my cardigan and shirt were covered in hair dye , including my bra as well. I was so upset I cried the entire way to pick up my baby. The manager was so sweet and helpful and didn't make me pay for the disaster that just happened to me . They asked me to come back and we scheduled an appointment but I'm so hesitant to let them come near my hair again. It completely ruined my day and I'm hoping my boss doesn't notice the blue in my hair tomorrow . At least I didn't have to pay for it . ): worst " me time " ever . read more

When businesses were allowed to re-open I gladly took myself and my "COVID-styled" hair in. The salon has restructured its procedures to suit the needs of the pandemic. Noel was super accommodating with my schedule as a busy mom of 4 and made it work. She put me on the cancellation list and called me right away when one came up. I received a cut and color and got 20% off my product purchase for being a first time customer. Also, their prices are reasonable. I have a super tight budget and I did not break the bank at my appt. My stylist, Justine, is AMAZING! she worked tirelessly to make sure I was thrilled and my hair came out Exactly the way I wanted it. she even took a little extra time to re style when I wasn't happy with the blow out. This salon is more than gracious with lateness. I was running 7 minutes behind for my initial consult and I called ahead and told Noel about it and she said not to worry I'd be taken care of! I had a balayage from Salon Ethos that was great for what it was but just not what I wanted, due to lack of communication with myself and the hairdresser. I reached out to the owner and expressed my concerns and she had me in and fixed my hair to EXACTLY what I wanted at no charge the very next day. They did a great job and were very personable. Where do I start? I went to Salon Ethos thinking at a higher end salon my fragile, fine, thin hair would be safe. My appointment was with Nikki. I explained what I wanted done with my hair-or so I thought. I explained some areas of my hair were still damaged from another salon. She used a conditioning bleach. When she was done my hair really looked no different except lighter on the ends. She then cut my hair. We scheduled a time for me to return to fix the color-she was blocking out the afternoon to fix my hair! With tip I paid $175. I cried on the way home. The next morning I do my hair-or try to. As I am drying and then curling my hair I found huge chunks of missing hair-not sure what she did. There was a circle of color in the side of my head. The sides hung sadly on the sides of my head-no layers to lighten the load. I cried more. Two days later I return to Salon Ethos so Nikki could correct the color. Nikki asked how my cut was-where would I begin? Anyway, I'm seated in her chair and two other stylists gather round to recommend how she fix the color and advise how to cut it. I truly felt like I was getting my hair done at a beauty college rather than a higher end salon. Nikki hurriedly splashed color in my head, sweater, and phone case. After the color was rinsed out my hair was deep conditioned and heat conditioned by another stylist while Nikki worked on other customers. I guess lucky for me she came back to cut my hair. All I can do now is wait for it to grow out. So I am out $175 and my hair looks every bit as crappy as it did when I first went in. It's just shorter and the color is a bit darker. The bottom two inches are fried and frizzy from the bleaching. I appreciate the effort to fix this but I really did expect more from this salon. read more

She's a redhead and has been sad to see her hair fading over the years, but when she came home from her haircut a few weeks ago saying she had made an appointment for coloring, I was shocked. My mom does NOT make quick decisions; I had figured she'd think it over for a month and then put it off indefinitely. When I saw her newly colored hair, I was so impressed. It's a beautiful, natural shade of red with so much life to it. It's the shade of red she's had most of her life, before it began to fade. I knew she'd look great after Liz colored her hair, but I just didn't expect the color to be so perfect. I've been going to Liz for at least 12 years to get my hair done. I continue to go to Liz because I absolutely love what she does with my hair. When she opened Salon Ethos, it got even better because Liz was able to see her vision come to life - the customer service, the products she can carry, the atmosphere she wanted her clients to experience, and the training she could offer her stylists. Many times I've gone to the Salon with laptop in tow, so I could work while my highlights processed. They make that possible by providing a table and WiFi for customers as well as bottomless coffee. Very cool. I'm picky about my blonde highlights (I mean, who isn't?), and she makes them look so natural and full of depth. I know that Liz makes it a priority for her and her staff to be trained on the latest trends and techniques because she frequently talks animatedly about it while she does my hair. She's always trying to be a better stylist and it makes me feel like I'm in good hands. Her and I have tried different trends/techniques over the years, but Liz has to come to know what is in my realm, so I never get anything too crazy - just beautiful and timeless. There have also been times when I needed a last minute appointment and I've gone to other stylists in the Salon and have been very pleased.
