I went for the first time and they set me up with Amanda. She was very attentive and friendly and gave me a consultation before proceeding to cut. Front desk receptionist is very friendly and efficient. The person who washed my hair took her time massaging my scalp and the massage chair felt wonderful as she was doing it. Salon East is a gem nestled in the town of Hampton Bays. I stumbled on it a couple of years ago because I broke my elbow and was unable to wash and blow dry my hair. Salon east embraced me and made me feel as if I were a life long customer!! Bonnie who I initially started with cut my hair with precision. After a couple of times I entrusted her to color my hair every month. SHE DID AN AMAZING JOB. My color never looked better. 2 years later I wanted to change my boring bob hair cut. Joanne the owner gently encouraged me to go for a new much shorter look. Her eye was amazing and I would never consider going to my old bob again. Now Beth cuts my hair- she is edgy without being over the top!! Love her creativity. Whether it's Bonnie, Beth or Joanne- the team there is creative and on top of their art. Val did my color high lights and low lights for the first time and JoAnn the owner consulted with her on what colors would work best for me and I absolutely love the end result! Val was friendly and accommodating as well as the entire staff in the salon! I felt very comfortable there and I'm very pick about my hair! I will never go back here again. They've never got my color just right, even though I gave them the formula. I get my color done every four weeks and they want to cut it every time, even though I tell them I'm trying to grow it out. I have to be firm. But yesterday was the final straw. I was scheduled for a color and style. That's what I asked for. I get to my appointment. I tell Rosa again that I don't want a cut, that I just had a cut 3 1/2 weeks ago but that I still want her to blow it out. She must have been in a hurry cuz she put me under a dryer in a really uncomfortable position. You don't heat with my color. Then she takes me to another girl to have my color washed out. The girl, I think her name is Nia, is talking on her cell phone more than half the time while she's rinsing me. She asks me what else I'm having done. I said I was having it blown out. I think I hear Rosa tell her that I'm a color only. This girl takes me to a chair with soaking wet hair, sits me down, hands me a blow dryer, and opens a drawer that's full of brushes and tells me to pick one and dry my hair. I was stunned. Another woman sitting in a nearby chair can't believe this either. Her jaw drops. Top it all off... The color was wrong. WAY wrong. It might be because she heated it, I don't know but it was terrible. I had to used harsh shampoo to strip a lot of it off. Then I get to check out and they tried to charge me for a color, cut, and style. I question this. No one told her. So they had obviously still booked the time for me. I still don't even know what to say. This was a horrible way to be treated in a salon. Never again. I'll be going to the Wella website to find a new salon. read more

I've driven by this salon hundreds of times but I was reluctant to try it because I rely on reviews and social media when choosing salons and other services. I wasn't able to find a website or a single yelp review of this salon. When calling Salon East for the first time to inquire about their services, they were friendly and offered great advice. I immediately booked a highlight and haircut. The person who answered was able to suggest stylists and colorists that she thought would be best for my hair and needs. When walking in for the first time I have to admit I was a little scared. The space is dated and there is nothing glamorous about it. However, the staff was so friendly I wanted to give them a shot. Joanne (I believe she is the owner) gave me a quick consultation and instructed my colorist on what formulation to use. My colorist was so fast!!! I have a TON of hair and it has taken colorists hours to do a full head of highlights. However, Kelly (I believe that was her name) was fast and efficient. Their hair washing stations are comfortable and I love the Loreal hair products they use. When it came time for the hair cut, Rosa (I believe that was her name), was awesome!! She gave me the BEST cut I've had in such a long time. My hair came out so smooth, precise, and looking fabulous. I can't wait to go back! The atmosphere in this salon reminds me of an old fashioned beauty parlor. Not just because the space needs a little face lift but because all the stylists and customers chat with each other through their services. It's like a girls day out with your best friends. Even if you don't contribute to the conversation, you can sit there and listen to the conversations around you. I had many laughs while sitting there for a few hours. Their prices are very reasonable and you won't regret your look when you leave! The only downside was the cost of the products. I purchased a Loreal shampoo and conditioner, which I love. When I went to look up the prices on Amazon or other on-line retailers, the prices at Salon East were almost double. So go there for the best hair cut and color and purchase your products elsewhere. I started coming here when I couldn't get an appointment with my regular stylist at another local salon. My mom has been going here for years so I decided to give it a try. Although I could get an appointment with Beth that week, (she's the best!) you should always book in advance because she is usually booked up! I always leave extremely happy. All the girls there take the time to answer your questions about products and don't push you to buy anything that doesn't work for your hair. The girls at the salon are also really nice and get along so well, unlike most salons where you can feel tension and cattiness. It makes going there so much more comfortable. I was referred to Rosa at Salon East, and had my first appointment yesterday. I can't say enough about Rosa!! She is absolutely phenomenal!! Rosa knew exactly what to do to correct my color; it took a lot of time and several steps but Rosa was patient and wanted to make sure it came out perfect... This past June my family escaped the Pandemic by temporarily leaving our home in NYC to stay at our house in Hampton Bays. My son is immunocompromised so we are limited on the places we can go and unfortunately my family lives a very isolated life. I called Salon East, explained my situation and asked if I could have stylist come to my home to highlight and cut. It had been four months since I had seen a stylist. Paul and JoAnn could not have been more accommodating and thoughtful. They made arrangements for me to come to the salon during off hours to limit my interaction with others. Val did an amazing job highlighting and cutting my hair. JoAnn weighed in throughout the process. I have not had an experience like this in years. Everyone at Salon East is thoughtful, kind and beyond professional. They all care about making the customer happy and satisfied with their work. I have been to Salon East twice since we temporarily located to the Hamptons and I expect to continue visiting the salon moving forward. WORST hair experience of my life. Went in for balayage and came out with yellow tacky highlights. I couldn't tell at first cause of the lighting in there but when I went into the sun I realized 200$ later that they completed botched my hair. Went back and asked to get it covered up very politely they gave me an attitude and said nothing was wrong with it. (Even though eventually people that worked there even admitted it looked horrendous). The owner which is the only person there who can actually color eventually covered it up after I had to start crying hysterically because the other employees were so rude and said nothing was wrong. I looked like a yellow skunk, they gave 0 refund, discounts or anything and we're flat out rude. read more

I decided to try Salon East for hair coloring after doing my own touch-ups for so long and never quite getting it right. I met with Kelly for a consult, she is one of the colorist who formulates. I think she did a great job. She took about 20 minutes to talk with me about my concerns and what I was looking for and what she thought we should do. For some reason I totally trusted her and took her advice on everything. Eileen applied the color. It wasn't perfect at first (still a little brassy from my DIY touchups) so she then applied a rinse and I was very pleased with the results. Probably the best hair color I've had in years. The salon offers different levels of touch-ups, they have a station for client's to self blow dry if they choose, the staff was professional and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. For me it's a win, win. I usually touch up may color every 3 weeks so I'm so happy I found a place convenient to my home (Hampton Bays) that does a great job for a reasonable price. P.S. oh, yeah, did I mention they use organic products and steam so the application only takes 10 minutes? read more
