Haircut is uneven and not at all what I wanted. The stylist kept stopping to talk to her colleague about a cruise and my hair looks nothing like the picture O showed her. It is also WAY shorter than I asked for and the layers are way more prominent on the right side than the left. She didn't style it after she blew it try and I was charged $65. I found my new salon! Yesterday was my first time here. I was greeted by a very pleasant staff. The owner even took the time to sit with me. She had recommended a stylist that she thought would be s good fit and she was spot on. Tricsh was amazing. She was friendly quick and efficient. She did exactly what I asked and it came out perfect! Needed a new salon in the area and gave this place a try. They said the guy they put me with was very experienced and had been in the business for years. He was the only one working that day and I had stood there waiting while he kept engaging in another conversation, there was no "I'll be right with you" or "one moment". I was just ignored. Didn't really matter to me as I'm not much for engaging into conversations. What I should have done and what I want to say is, I should have drove that hour to my old salon. As soon as I stepped in this salon, 4 hours of a nightmare had begun. I needed my hair TRIMMED with bangs and I wanted to go to a purple based color. When we started the bleaching process, he kept dropping bleach on my face and then just wouldn't acknowledge it until I had to raise my hand and say "um, I think there is bleach all over my face", and in return he grabbed a dry towel and rubbed it off. Ouch. When he rinsed and went through my hair, I swear that man hated me as he kept pulling on my hair, not even trying to be gentle. The second bleaching that had gone wrong he claimed it must be because I had red undertones in my hair. No. I came in with my natural ashy brown hair with a grown out blonde balayage. Eventually he got fed up and just threw some purple in... obviously the purple didn't take to the botched bleaching job...so he went darker without my permission but then mentioned it later...the funny part about this was...my hair wasn't even purple, it was a dark pink. I asked for purple. Saying "f" it, I have had pink before it will be fine. Onward to the cutting. I wanted a long bob, one length, with dreamy Zooey Dechanel bangs. I showed pictures. I showed a good 10 of them. When he started to cut he didn't asked and show me a piece of my hair and say "is this how short you want?" Because I could have said "heck no!". He just grabbed and started snipping. While he was cutting I might add, his hands shook REALLY bad, to the point where I was frightened he would get my ear or my neck or my jaw. I didn't care about the hair at that point, just my jugular. My end result? Thin bangs. I'm sorry wait, no...thing HALF bangs. "What do you mean by half bangs" you might ask? I mean that my bangs start slightly away from my middle part, and my bangs look like an older man's thinning head. Which were super short btw, we are talking middle of my huge for head short. As for the rest of my hair...LAYERS UPON LAYERS as if I were a wedding cake. My hair was also up to my chin, MY CHIN! I wanted my shoulders. It looked like I had put some bubblegum in a blender and then just stuck my head in. Feeling as if I wanted to cry because there was no fixing this mess and I would have to wait this out, I thanked him (was trying to be polite) and went to use the ATM to tip him. The ATM in the salon was broke, all I had was a $13 on me. As I said "f" it again, and rummaged through my bag for more bills, the hairdresser says "you know you can go next door, BUY something, and get cash back. I chuckled and handed over the $13. The cons? Everything. The pros? There's an Applebee's across the street, and they won't cut you off after 5 shots, especially with your hair done by Salon Deja Vu. read more

Got my hair cut here today by Tatiana. This was my second cut with her and I am very happy with it. I have hair that is very curly and have often been disappointed with my cuts. Tatiana took the time to listen to what I wanted, my concerns about the previous cut and offered suggestions bit didn't push. My curls now look healthy and bouncy. The salon itself is very nice, clean and the music is not too loud. All the staff I have encountered have been very pleasant. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I need to see how the cut is after a few days of my doing it myself. I want to see how it settles in. read more

I went here about a year and a half ago. Absolutely love this place and the people who work here. They were friendly and really listen to your needs. I came here because of a Groupon I found which included a wash, deep conditioning, cut and blow dry for $29. I asked the lady for layers that will give my hair volume and oomph, a face frame and soft cut with no blunt ends. She delivered and much more!! The hairdresser measured with her fingers if that's the length I want before actually cutting! I honestly forgot her name but she was great. I would recommend this place. Without a Groupon, wash cut and blow dry would cost $45 which is pretty affordable. I walked out super happy and IN LOVE with my hair! The only reason I have not returned is because this place is closed Sunday and Monday (the only two days I'm available). *** I decided to review this salon now bc I went to Cuts For You in Rockaway recently and was so unhappy and unsatisfied with my cut that I regretted not going to Salon Deja Vu! read more

This place is a nice relaxing and friendly place for your hair needs. The owners are always pleasant and are always there working. Brittany is super good and so is Jackie. My hair always comes our great and it's from there long experience of cutting and coloring hair. On another note.. they have a couple of people there who do great eye brow waxing! I've not had my nails done there , so I'm not sure about that part of the salon. They have cookies and a nice coffee machine to patrons. The parking lot is small but I'm willing to deal,with that for a nice haircut from friendly people. read more

I went in today for a corrective color to my bleach blonde hair. After almost FOUR HOURS in the chair, my hair was damaged from root to tip, polka-dotted brown roots, orange tinges and color all over my face. After seeing this, I said no thanks to a blow out or any additional services. I get up to the counter to an almost $200 bill, including a blow out and conditioning treatment I told the stylist I didn't want. No way. After speaking to the manager, and her speaking to the owner, I was told if I didn't pay the full amount and rearrange my day tomorrow for another "free" appointment, they would call the cops. Haha! I told them I would pay $100 for bleach, and that was all. I hand her my card, and I get told they don't accept my card type, even though that is posted NO WHERE in the salon. End result: I was told to leave free of charge, and walked out with blisters on my burning scalp. When I posted a review of what had happened to me on their Facebook, they got nasty with me telling me my hair was damaged, broken and green (?) before I walked in and refused to apologize, telling me they should have made me pay anyway. Terrible customer service. ***update: the salon took down my Facebook review, probably after seeing how nasty they were to me. And currently, layers of my scalp are coming off from chemical burns. About 8 months later I needed another touch up cut, so I went with Tatiana after reading the reviews. She was absolutely incredible!!! She was far better than the first woman I went to, and she did an amazing job! She gave me a precision cut, great layers, and styled beautifully :) I just went back to her yesterday, and I decided I had to write a review for her because she continues to please. Worst haircut of my life! No style, no shape and no length. I went for a trim and got butchered. He just hacked away and frizzed my hair like an 80s groupie. This is a pretty unfriendly place which might not have bothered me as much had my hair turned out amazing, well or at least acceptable. One of the salon employees was combing out her wet hair in the next chair, complaining loudly about the mess while dropping globs of hair on the floor (pretty gross). Another ate from a takeout box of chicken in the next chair while her hair was being worked on (isn't this unsanitary and against code?). I came in with a beautiful cut, which the hairdresser (Michelle) merely had to trim. I emphasized the need to pay careful attention to my bangs but winded up with bangs that were too short and looking like an amateur chopped it up with a knife. And to top it off, I found many stray longer pieces that had not been cut with the bangs. Other than offering magazines (she presented two outdated gossip magazines, couldn't even ask what I wanted to read), there was so much disinterest that the whole interaction bordered on rude. She did not show me the back of my hair when done; my hair did NOT have a finished salon look when I walked out. I came in with a Groupon - felt I overpaid based on the service and quality received. Helen has been doing my hair for about 8 years now and I am always 100% satisfied. She always listens to me and gives me exactly what I want. I get my hair colored and she gets it the perfect shade of red-violet every time. When I get it cut she takes off exactly what I want, never too much. This salon is a joke. I wasn't happy with the inadequacy of the haircut I received and contacted the owner of the salon via Facebook. At first Katee was very nice and offered to rectify the cut but wouldn't give a refund. I did not fight her on it i stated I understood and declined her offer as I now had no faith is this business or their stylists. I went on their Facebook page and left a fair and non derogatory review about my experience even giving 3 stars because my coloring was great. I then started to get attacked by one of their patrons who also just so happens to be a Facebook friend of my stylist. Professional much? Then the owner of the salon posted a photo of my hair without my permission and thanked my attacker for her opinion. This place is the most unprofessional salon I've been too. Please steer clear and save yourself from a non haircut you have to pay for and completely inadequate ownership. read more

I purchased a Groupon for this salon after I had read several positive reviews online. But unfortunately, I had a very negative experience here. I had the same boring, long hair that I never did anything with for about a decade. I was ready for, and excited about, making a change. I looked online and found pics of hairstyles I liked and thought I could easily maintain. I brought my pictures of choppy/shaggy lobs in to show the stylist. She quickly said "I don't think you should do that" and advised that I would need to blow it out and style it every day. I was pretty crushed. I didn't see how that could be... I thought a large part of the appeal was that it had a textured messy look about it, that my very thick hair with mild waves would readily recreate on its own. How difficult could it be? She suggested shoulder length long layers, which I felt was too close to my standard. So I asked about shortening more. Her surprised expression filled me with even more doubts. I had been hoping for someone that would be encouraging about trying a new look and helping me cross into this realm of trendy short hair and I was really discouraged by her dismissiveness. I quickly lost trust in her and caught myself thinking "if I have to get it fixed, too short or too many layers might make it difficult" and "what if she does a poor job, out of spite." I know that's unrealistic when dealing with professionals, but I couldn't help it and it wasn't a good mental starting point for a new styling experience. If it hadn't been for the Groupon that I couldn't get my money back from, I would have walked out. To make the best of it I just asked for the deep conditioning and my old standby - a trim and a long face frame - which came out fine. But in my head, I resolved to get a second opinion elsewhere. If a 2nd stylist also said "no can do," then no harm done. However, a friend recommended and I went to Michael's Salon in Hackettstown and saw stylist Erika, the next day. She took one look at the pics and said "Oh YES!! That's going to look amazing on you! AND you have perfect hair for it!" I'm 3 days post-Erika's cut and I love my choppy lob and all I have to do if put a little mouse in - wet or dry - in the morning. I've noted that none of the other reviews here have mentioned the stylist I had. Perhaps she was new and not comfortable with the style or my hair type? Or maybe she misread me as someone that wasn't really ready for it, but unfortunately, due to this sub-par experience, I won't be going back to this salon or recommending it to friends in the future. read more

I've never dealt with such a horrible salon. I was recommended to a stylist to get color done. I showed pictures exactly what i wanted. In the end it was not remotely close to what i wanted and even when I said that i wanted it brighter and the color she said its because its next to hers it doesn't look right. Throughout my time there...I was taken over 30 minutes late for my appointment, not to mention told 2 different times, and had to sit around waiting so much once I got back there. Several different people worked on me throughout each process. Nobody up there was friendly except one of the assistants. Everyone else from the minute I walked in to when i left to pay never said a word or acknowledged me as a customer there in their salon. It was the worst salon experience and job, very disrespectful, overcrowded, and uncomfortable time of over 3 hours. Still calling to get money back for my overpriced, uneven and unprofessional hair job and I get nowhere. The people not to mention that answer the phone are very rude. I could've bought an $8 box at the store and done a more professional quality job to my own hair. read more
