Cuts: Although my hair is not overly complicated to cut - it can be a little feisty, naturally curly, not necessarily thick but I have a lot of it. I like to keep my hair short and stylist. She has never let me down, she listens to what I want and has performed miracles with her scissors. She offers suggestions on how to better care for my locks without trying to push products. She never judges (or at least not out loud) and I always feel comfortable asking her questions. Color: She is an absolutely INCREDIBLE colorist. She listens, takes the time to understand what you want, and makes it happen. I have aging hair - it's graying in all the wrong places - and she has a special flair for making it look healthy and vibrant. She never does more then I can maintain and manage and will actually color it for longevity rather than trying to get me to come back every couple of weeks. I have two teenage girls that love to "self color" - the horror! - and she has fixed it more than once. No judgment, just professionalism and gets them right back on track. I really can't say enough good things about Megan - if you want crazy complicated color that looks stunning -she's your girl. If you want an easy to maintain cut - she's your girl. If you want anything in between - she's your girl. Thanks Megan!

The only downside was we were each incredibly clear that our party was later that afternoon and we needed our hair (curls) to hold. Each of us had multiple reference pictures for how we wanted our hair to look. We joked add as much hairspray as you need, it just needs to hold. My hair is semi curly on its own, and at first it looked great, but my curls felt flat within an hour (I didn't touch them or do anything to mess them up). I think they may just not be as experienced in event hair styling but it was a bit disappointing to have to recurl each of our hairs at home, which all held perfectly fine when we did it.

I love the healthy long layers on my very thick hair, and appreciate that she didn't overly thin and texture it into oblivion like most places do. On the big day, Nina used airbrush foundation on me. It was my first time using that and my makeup stayed fresh day and night! Amazeballs I say. Even despite the tears and sweat I endured! Even my lashes...which are notorious for having a mind of their own...were super comfortable and on point all night. I felt like a suuupahhh mah-do! They also curled my hair and braided it in such a way to integrate the handmade bead tiara and veil. It stayed in place all day...one less thing that a bride has to worry about, right?? These gals are the best to work with. So sweet, very accommodating and knowledgeable. They're pros at what they do!!

My hair needs are relatively simple; I get a cut to shape my hair every few months, it grows out, I get another cut and reshape. I lost a lot of my hair due to trauma from spine surgery in January 2020. I also didn't know that the my head had been shaved in the back "just in case" they needed to perform surgery higher up my spine, so I was looking like the Crypt Keeper. It took 2 years for me to regrow most of my hair back, or at least make a decent ponytail to hide my hair loss. I was quite self-conscious about my hair loss, especially with my workplace reopening, people who had only seen the front of my hair on Zoom would finally see the back. I asked Sophie to help me. Sophie is a safe space. I felt comfortable enough to show her what meds and trauma had done. She asked me lots of questions. She explained what she saw, made sure we were both clear on my expectations. I also explained my daily styling and maintenance routine. I love the way my hair came out, especially with the blow out. It was like one of the few times during the pandemic and my recovery that I felt like my old self. I also brought my daughter for a trim. I noticed that her kitchen haircut from my mom was a bit crooked in the back, and mini-me had cut her own bangs on 2 different occasions. Sophie gave her a nice trim to even things out and blend the regrowth, and she braided her hair afterwards. i really admire Sophie's patience with mini-me, taking time to explain how she does her job. It's been a few months since our haircuts, and although they grew out a little, they still look great. Looking forward to our next appointment with Sophie!
